Sept-Dec Room Discounts ~ Information Here

We have a split stat but only 2 days will qualify for RO but its GF royal palm club so even if there is only a 5% discount its better then nothing!! Only more magical if it ended up being 30%. Monday hurry up!

No this is not from historical info.

I understand about higher discounts for less desirable views. I didn't see specifics for CR though in either your previous post or on the website you gave a link to. So I just didn't understand how some people were saying specific discount amounts for certain rooms. I figured I must have missed the info somewhere.

Thanks so much for all of your helpful info so far. I have passed it on to so many friends who were equally thankful.:goodvibes

Ok guys, here's some info.

The Room Only Discounts will run from September 29th until December 23rd, with blackouts during Thanksgiving week (Nov 23-29).

This could be available for booking August 1, with Visa holders getting in on July 29.

The Discounts vary depending on resort, and should be along the lines of the following (note: these are fluid and can fluctuate slightly after release):

Value Resorts = up to 25%
Moderate Resorts = up to 30%
Deluxe Resorts and Deluxe Villa Resorts = up to 35%

These percentages can vary by room type and availability. For example, Resorts such as French Quarter and Art of Animation are likely be less. It's just too detailed to list each specific at this time, as even rooms in the same resort can have different discounts. So the percentages above should be read as a maximum percentage off, since some room types are lower.

As usual, some rooms, such as Little Mermaid rooms and Campsites, are excluded.

A word of thanks as well to Dave at **************. He and I have had continued discussions on this topic for some time and shared much insight on the Free Dining and Room Discount promotions both in September and beyond.

Thanks for this info. IMHO RO discounts for the Deluxe Resorts are allways a better deal than Free Dining. But I am curious, why do these dates appear to be different than some of the dates on the FD PIN Codes that have been floating around?

FD dates and room discount dates rarely follow the same pattern. Room codes always cover more dates. :goodvibes

The room discounts cover a wider range of dates than free dining, which is a more targeted discount.

This is exciting! We have been away for a little road trip vacation and I also happy to see this! Thanks Joe!:)

Thank you all of the education on the difference between coverage dates for FD and RO discounts. However, I am curious. Disney, especially the Parks division (which I think includes Cruise Line) reported record profits again last quarter and the CEO swore off future discounts in an analyst call not too long ago. Granted, I am not going to look a gift horse in the mouth but why are they still offering such great discounts this year?

So we're booked with a package since Feb. If we have to switch to a RO discount and add on tix & dining, it would be at the higher prices, right? Gotta run the #'s when I get home to see if a RO would even save us anything.

I am booked CBR Nov 29th-Dec 6th and have Disney Visa, booked pre-ticket increase

Just so I'm on board with the current information- IF room only discount opens up Monday, I will need to rebook at higher ticket price and only get the discount for Nov 30th- Dec 6th and no need to check out/in like with FD

Sorry if this is a no brainer but I have learned
so much here- what a great group I feel so prepared for our trip!

Grace

:)

I have this same question. Well...almost the same. We are currently booked room only BC garden view from November 27-29. Then, we have a package booked for November 29-December 6 (BC garden view also). Will I need to add the November 29th date (that is blacked out) onto our room only reservation and not have the dining plan and park tickets that date, or will they be able to keep the package from the 29th-6th and just apply the discount to the dates the room only discount applies? Hope this question makes sense! Thanks for all the info!

How does it work if I already have a room and tickets booked? Would I be able to get a RO discount? :confused3

Hey! We have never stayed at BC before. Actually this is our first time on property and only our 2nd WDW trip ever!:scared1: My DH travels soooo much for work that we always stay on points whenever we travel. But this time I convinced him to use the points for DSs LAX and soccer tournaments. I am so excited!

CR looks fabulous to me:cool1: and I hope to stay there one day too! Hopefully they will have a good enough discount to offer. What about WL if CR isn't available? I know people over on the CL thread rave about their CL.:cool1: Where are you guys cruising? I am trying to talk DH into that next Dec but he has never cruised and says he never wants to....

The BC is an amazing resort.....you're going to love it :goodvibes. We've had two stays at the WL (with one of those stays being CL) and while it's a fabulous resort and we love it, we wanted to try something new. We've stayed at the Poly before so that resort isn't new, but we've never stayed CL at the Poly, so that's will be different :). With that said, I do have WL CL in the back of my mind should CR not be a high % off. If I could talk my boys into staying on the Epcot side again, YC or BWI would be nice to try, but I haven't had any luck with that so far :rolleyes1.

We are only taking a 3 night cruise as our boys have never cruised before so I wanted them to get a taste of it to see if they like it. So, we are only stop at Nassau and Castaway Cay. I have heard nothing but amazing things about CC, so I'm really excited to spend some time there :cloud9:. The great thing about taking a cruise is everything is included and you really don't have to spend any extra money if you don't want to ;). I hope you can get your DH to agree on a cruise because they really are amazing :boat:.

I am such a newbie and I feel like I have been asking so many questions about all these offers.

We have our reservation made and paid for (October, POR-RGR, park passes, DDP etc). We may pass up the FD if the RGR at POR is not available because we really want our daughters to stay in the RGR. In this case, can we apply the Room Discount instead or are there only a set number of these available as well?

Basically, we don't want to give up the RGR. Seeing as we have already paid for everything, DH said that if we lose the RGR just to get the FD then forget about the FD. If we can get a room discount and not lose the RGR, that would be sweet!

Sorry for the questions (for those that have seen me post different questions in numerous threads)! I am new to all of this. ;)

When discounts are released, there are only so many rooms available with that discount. With that said, if a RGR is available under the RO discount, you can definitely have that applied to your existing reservation. If FD is available and is the better deal for you, that can be applied as well. Either discount can be applied pending availability :).

This just brought back some hope into my life :lmao: I'm in the "first week of December" group that's not getting Free Dining but a RO discount would be awesome :yay:

Any idea of Wilderness Lodge Club Level is included at the 35% off discount? If no, no biggie, I will go to a Woods or Courtyard View or move resorts if necessary.

Thanks for the info and making my Thursday a happy one :yay:

I obviously can't speak for the upcoming promo, but WL CL has been offered in past promos ;).

First time poster.

My wife booked the Poly for our trip Nov 15-20 Garden View. She put me on the reservation. We currently have the AAA discount 10% those days. Obviously we want to take advantage of the increased discount. Already bought our park tix discounted through a broker when the price changed. So, free dining is out- we also have our daughters a 5yo who doesn't eat much and a 2yo in our party, so even 20% off room is probably a better deal for us than free dining regardless.

I have some mechanical questions about getting the discount.

Can I call or does my wife have to as the original person who booked the res?

Do they apply it to our current res or do they cancel our original res and book again?

Are the discounts available until all of the rooms are booked or are there limits to how many people can get discounts in a particular resort and class of rooms?

More specifically, can this be an issue if all of the Garden Rooms are already booked and force us into the higher priced Lagoon View, essentially nullifying discount?

Everyone is saying start calling at 7am next Thursday. Can we call later in the day or will we be out of luck? My wife hates when I put her on a clock.

Thanks for all of your help. I'm new to WDW. I was there 32 years ago, so it's basically my first trip, along with my daughters' first too. My wife has been there a few times, but it's her first at the Poly.

Welcome to the Dis :goodvibes. If you are on the reservation, you will be able to call and make changes/have a discount applied.

As with all discounts, there are only so many rooms available at a discount. If the resort/room type you currently have booked is available with the discount, your existing reservation can easily be modified without cancelling/rebooking. Cancelling and rebooking is only needed when you go from one reservation type to the other (RO to package, and vice versa). Room only and packages are different reservation systems, so money paid toward one cannot be applied to the other. If you can book first thing in the morning, sometimes that's the best as far as having a better chance of getting exactly what you want. But with that said, I have called/checked online to book a trip under a promo days after it had been released and have gotten what I wanted :).

I would book the discount you can get first and then switch if something better comes along.

I agree :thumbsup2.

The original post showed which resorts/room types were under which percentage, but has since been modified.

If you currently have a package and the resort/room type you have booked is available under the RO discount, you can have that applied to your package. This would be instead of FD and would apply to the room portion only.

Your check in needs to fall on a day the offer is for. If the offer starts 11/30 you'd need to move your second check in to 11/30 and toss the 29th onto your first set of dates.

We're currently booked in a package with a standard room at POFQ with 7-day hoppers & the regular dining plan.

If we call to get the RO discount, and they can apply it to our existing prices, here's what I figured:
POFQ @ 5% = $75 savings
POR-preferred @ 25% = $223 savings
POR-royal @ 25% = $193 savings
POR-royal/pool @ 25% = $18 savings
CSR-preferred @ 25% = $167 savings

HOWEVER...since RO's and packages are different systems, I'm thinking they'll cancel our package & rebook in the RO system, and then they'd charge me at the current/higher rates for dining & tickets. I also think they'll refund our $200 for the package & re-charge it in the RO system. Here's what I came up with:
POFQ @ 5% = costs $50 more
POR-preferred @ 25% = $148 savings
POR-royal @ 25% = costs $30 more
POR-royal/pool @ 25% = costs $175 more
CSR-preferred @ 25% = $149 savings
(if this is true, then we wouldn't switch to any that costs more)

If I'm right, then DH & I need to decide what's more important: a smaller resort with one bus stop or saving $150. I'm sure the savings works out better for a deluxe, but it doesn't seem that great for a moderate when you factor in the dining & ticket increases. And if I'm right, I hope everyone else does this kind of comparison before calling so they don't get sticker shock. If I'm wrong, then I'm sorry for taking your time! :confused3

They don't need to cancel and rebook you unless you want a Room Only reservation with no tickets/dining. If you're wanting to keep your package they can apply the discount to your current reservation.

A room only discount, albeit a little confusing, simply means it only discounts the room. You can still use it with a package. The room only booking system is for strictly room bookings - no packages.

So, in my case, am I going to have to rebook the entire vacation, thus resorting to the higher prices on tickets, etc? Or, can I keep the current package reservation (Nov. 29-Dec. 6) and just knock off a day? I'm assuming the room only portion (Nov. 27-29) is going to have to be rebooked since I'll have to add the night of the 29th onto the reservation. And, should I keep my 8 day park hopper and try to pick up the tickets a day early so that we can use them on the 29th still (then we'd just be missing out on our dining plan for that first night of the package). Just trying to figure out how to price all this out. This is getting super confusing!! :confused3
