Sept 8, 2011 Dream - FE final list complete

Late in joining this thread, but we are doing 9/4 and 9/8 b2b also. Well, let me say we have it booked and are definitely doing the 9/4 and probably the 9/8. This will be the first b2b for us. We have had the 9/4 booked for a while, and just recently booked the 9/8 as we were able to keep the same cabin.

Talk about a good deal, my good friend is sailing in the same cabin during spring break and paying $600 more than we are for the 9/4.

Welcome RweTHEREyet! Glad to have you cruising with us.

I am looking forward to the fact that it is new, a different cabin interior, some new dining options, The Aquaduck, a refrigerator in the cabin, and I guess I could go on and on. The more I read about the Dream, the more stuff I find out that I didn't expect, like not having to put your card in the door to open it, and having to leave a key in the slot to have your lights, etc. stay on. (we experienced this in China, and it is a great idea).

This ought to be interesting. I think it's a great idea to save on power...and very well might be a good reminder to not leave the room without a key card. DH and I did this once on our last cruise. The girl at the service desk got quite a chuckle when we sheepishly explained that we had locked ourselves out of our room.

Hi everyone! Other family reporting in!! Me, DW and DD who will be 9 (she would say 9 1/2) :lmao: when we sail. We are doing B2B (9/8-9/11):woohoo: and this one will be our first leg. These will make our 3rd & 4th Disney cruises so far and, of course, our first one on the Dream.

Will be staying at Disney's Port Orleans Riverside for 10 days after our cruise, we stayed at POR for the first time in August/Sept 2010 and loved it, Actually, It's become our new favorite!! Although we are US citizens we will be traveling from Madrid, Spain (been living here for many years)

Please count on us if you guys decide to do a Fish Extender Exchange, we have always done it on our previous cruises and it is always one of the highlights of our trip.

My family and I are all very excited and we look forward to getting to know you all!!!

Is it September yet? :)

Welcome! Glad you are joining us. Our favorite WDW resort is Port Orleans, too. September can't come soon enough!

Thank you guys for the warm welcome, we re going to have a BLAST!! Mickeymedic, one of the things I love the most about the POR is to walk by the river from POR to POFQ, I usually go running on that same sidewalk early in the morning, this year actually we have booked a river view room :woohoo:

Dennis

I love walking the paths throughout POR. The landscaping is gorgeous. And, even when the resort is full it never feels crowded. The path between POR and FQ is nice - but I've only walked it a few times. DH and I love the boat ride to DTD.

OH! I LOVE the boat ride to Downtown Disney as well!! It always makes me want to stay at the Tree House Villas :)

Yes! The Treehouse Villas. I was soooo sad when the treehouses were sitting there empty. Then they converted them to CM housing and I thought - for sure - we'd never ever get to stay in one. So I was incredibly excited when I found out they were converting them to DVC. Unfortunately they are soooo expensive to rent per night that it is still unlikely I will ever get to stay in one. But, at least now it is possible.

We are doing B2B, with the first leg of the cruise starting 9/4 and the second is the 9/8 sailing. I think I mentioned that before.

Should I tell you that we are spending the two nights prior to the 9/4 cruise at the Treehouse Villas? We have not stayed there before, but we wanted to check them out and this was a good chance for us to do so.

So, this will be a trip of several firsts for us:

First time at the TreeHouse Villas
First time on the Dream
First time to do B2B cruises

I will be glad to. My DH is an avid photographer, so I am sure we will have lots of them.

Hope everyone enjoys their Super Bowl Sunday. Not a big football fan myself, but I love the commercials. :)

Hello everyone,
I just got off the Dream with my DD celebrating my birthday. We booked the Fantasy for her birthday 4/14/12 Western Caribbean and for December 1 this year for her and her DH to take his parents. We did this without telling him before we left. We had not planned to but the deals were too good to turn down. We were afraid that he would get upset since the cruise we took 5 years ago, we came back DVC members. I told her that he will never let us go on vacation without him again. It turned out he thought the trips were a great idea.

On the way home, I realized that my daughter will make gold before me because she has one trip more. They honeymooned on the Magic. I booked the 9/8 trip, called my best friend and told her that we were taking a short cruise. She has never cruised. I also told her that we would spend a day or two at Epcot before coming home. She has never been to WDW. I am hoping that I can convert her so that I can get a travel partner. It has been costing me a fortune to cruise by myself.

Looking forward to meeting and getting to know all of you.
:yay:

Roadweaver, tell us about the Dream! I'm sure we are all are dying to hear the details. What did you think of the Quiet Cove pool? The Aquaduck? The restaurants?

Wow, your friends' first time to WDW and first time to cruise. She is going to be on :cloud9: And how exciting for you to see both of these events thru her eyes.

And yes, we would love to hear anything you have to share about the Dream, good or bad. There has been a lot negative said and then some Dream cruisers who thought everything was just perfect. :confused3

What cabin category did you have? For you to book more sailings on the Dream, you must have found things to your liking.

I do not know where to start. My daughter and I must have said WOW so much you would think that we did not know anything else. The atrium is so elegant and large.

The Quiet Cove pool is small. It is more a place to wade up to the bar or hang your feet in the water and meet people. You can not swim. There was a band playing there a few times we stopped by. We did not find the Quiet Cove very quiet so we did not hang around when there was a lot of people and the band. It was a very pretty area with lots of comfortable sitting. Quiet Cove pool is next to the Quiet Cove cafe. What we liked was deck 12 which is just above the Quiet Cove area. It was quiet and was a perfect place to lounge and sun bath if you liked.

The Quiet Cove cafe is not really smaller as I have been reading, what has happened is that they took out the computers and so that area is not there. Still cozy.

I did not get on the Aquaduck. Mainly, because everyone that got off said that it was cold. It takes very little to make me sick so I did not want to ruin my trip. I heard that everyone loved it that got on.

Restaurants-oh my.....Royal Palace, do you want to be a princess or prince, then this is the place for you. Princesses walk through, it is so beautiful, the waiters dressed like royal attendants. It is so pretty.

Enchanted Garden---it felt like we were in a conservatory with the petal lights and the ceiling. The only thing I wish is that the lights that were on the side were dimmed. They were so bright that I could not tell that the time of day had changed. Hope that they fix that. Otherwise just amazing.

We had Animated Palatte twice, the first time was on Pirate Night so we did not get the show. The second night was so much fun, it feels like you or in the animators studio. The lights dim so that it makes you feel that you are underwater and everything turned bluer. The interaction with the characters on the screen was hilarious. This was the best food.

Palos was fantastic as ever. We went to brunch. What I liked is that now the buffet is in the back out of the way in its own little room. More of the sitting is facing the water. I think it was more elegant looking. I will try to post a few pictures so you can see

I have been referring everyone to this thread because his report is right on the money.

Thanks so much for all the info! I can't wait until I get to explore the Dream for myself in September.

Looks like our verandah room is on deck 6 by the elevator to Cabana's.
We had no noise at all on deck 8 by the elevator so this should be the same.
Booked the other cruises we plan while on board but this one I booked when we got home thru Dreams Unlimited. Did not get the 10% room discount but did get the $100 obc.

Looking forward to this break.

Just booked today! It will just be DW and myself for our 22nd anniversary (on the 9th)! Our 1st DCL cruise was for our 10th anniversary on the inagural season of the Wonder. Leaving the kids home for this one and it will be our 8th DCL cruise :thumbsup2.
Driving up from SW Florida the day before but haven't decided where we're staying yet. The Raddison is soooo convenient and close but we're also thinking of the Hard Rock in Tampa or on property (Poly would be a nice start to the trip!)
