Sept 5 2010 "Labor Day Getaway"

Feigel037 - I just noticed that you and your family are from Buffalo. Where abouts? My wife Mary and I grew up there. Amherst & Town of Tonawanda.

Any chance you can smuggle a couple of Beef on Wecks onboard for us?

Lancaster, actually. I am originally from the Old First Ward, though.

If I could I'd bring the BoW's plus a few buckets of Duff's for everybody.:thumbsup2

Hey guys!! Sorry I've been away for so long...Been adjusting to a new job and stuff. So excited about the cruise coming up! Miss the Wonder so much...been almost a year since we've been on it! We are in cabin 2601. Hope everyone is doing well! I am going through the thread trying to get caught up on everyone and everything. I'll post more once I get through it all. Can't wait till September!! Right now we are planning on hitting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter when we get off the boat on Thursday, and at the moment that's the only plans we have after the cruise. Have a great day...off tomorrow, so hopefully I can catch up on the thread and post more!

Hello! I can't believe it's almost here and we are under the 60 day mark! :cheer2:

My husband really wanted to go to Palo this time, but it was already full when I got the cruise paid off and started booking stuff. Does any of the frequent cruisers know if they have additional reservations once you board? I have been checking twice a day to see if something opens up. Any other suggestions?

Ellie

Yes, there should be plenty of availability once you board. To ensure you get the day and time you want, board the ship early. Palo reservations start at 1:00 pm at Wavebands. I'd suggest getting there about 15 minutes early. I got there right at one last time and there was quite a line already, but we still got the exact Palo reservation we wanted for our party of seven.

If you're wanting Palo for dinner, there are spots available on Nassau night, but you're right about it being already full for brunch when our booking time started. I check back often so if I see a brunch ressie open I'll let you know, otherwise I'll be at Wavebands waiting in line at 1p to give it a shot. :)

:welcome: to the cruise and to the Disboards!

We too are doing this cruise sans kids. Our trip is celebrate our 20th Anniversary.

What would you like to know about the cruise? The Adults-only areas, food, entertainment, Castaway Cay, etc., etc.

Disney has so much to offer. Here is a link to a thread with answers to most of Disney cruise questions.

If you have more questions, please let us know.

Also, many on this thread are participating in the Fish Extender gift exchange. We've decided not to participate, but will most likely join in on the Meet on embarkation day to say Hi to others on this thread.

Enjoy planning for your cruise!

It's Post 140 on page 10. Here's a link:

can I ask what is Fish Extender and what do you have too do

In short, every room has a pewter fish outside of it with your room number on it that sticks out slightly from the wall. DISers hang an item with pockets in it (see links with pictures below) from their fish extender. The pockets are used to collect gifts from others participating in the gift exchange.

Dodle is maintaining a list of names and stateroom numbers of those participating on our cruise.

Here's a link to a post with pictures:

and even a whole thread:

Not everyone does it, but there are a lot of people who do decorate their doors. We've done it on each of cruises. You have to use magnets (no tape). There are whole threads with designs to customize. You can buy magnetic paper to print on or just add magnets to something else. If you're a DVC member, Disney adds a magnet to your door welcoming you. I think you also get magnet if you buy a stateroom celebration package. I'd say that 10% to 25% or so of the stateroom doors are decorated, depending on the cruise.

mickeysgirl05 - if I can get you names and kids ages and cabin numbers I can add you to the list. The updated list is on page 10.
esorddor2004 - if you'll post your DH name and cabin number I'll add that, too.
A fish extender exchange is where everyone makes, or buys, everyone else little gifts. It started as a way to give people little things from your home state. For example, one of the people in my group is from Louisiana so one of the things we are giving everyone is Mardi Gras beads. We are also having a wedding while on board so we have little things of bubbles for everyone. Just little things that say hello. Maybe some little toys for the kids. You should make, buy, or whatever a thing to have outside your door to receive all you goodies.
just this month and next left!!:dance3:

Rose, I see your DH name now, I'll get it added right away.
Still need a few cabin numbers: Tina and Patrick, rlbren, Annmarie and family, MinnieMom, mickeysgirl05, and Rose and Todd. Need kids ages from Tina and Patrick, and names from MinnieMom, rlbren, tmorena and mickeysgirl05. As soon as I get them I'll get the list updated.
The meet is set for 1:30 in Studio Sea. At least one from my party will be there for an hour or so, and I'll print out the list for everyone.
Not long now!!
