Mary - I know that feeling! Snow - yuck! Sand - nice!

Of course when we were last at CC they were making snow! :D

Making snow? It wasn't that cold down there too was it??? I hope it was Disney snow which I don't mind at all!

Yeah, it was DEFINITELY the kind you don't want to catch on your tongue!

At least with Disney snow you don't have to shovel it and look at it for the next few months as it turns an ugly dingy gray!

We do have a cruise planned with 27 extended family members - and we leave in 51 more days. :sunny: It's not a Disney cruise - but it is time away from this icky cold snowy weather we have here. Can you tell I really don't like the winters here!!!!!

Gail

very true Gail! We went to MGM and saw the Disney snow last month.

Someone recommended we go see the Ice exhibit in Orlando. I told em no thanks!!

Cheryl

Cheryl - how are you enjoying your nice mild winter? Isn't this your first winter living in Florida? Lucky you!!!!!!!

Gail

Can't wait for the cruise! At this point, I'd settle for spring! We received a really bad ice storm. Governor declared much of the state a disaster area. Expecting Pres Bush to do so as well. Tree limbs down everywhere. Lots of people without power. Ours went out for about 6 hours. First time in 18 years that my boss didn't open the office, so I enjoyed the morning off. Then DH comes home after lunch, gets out the chainsaw to start cutting on the limbs that fell. So I had to help gather limbs and put out by the curb. We have part of the neighbor's tree resting on our roof, just waiting to see how much damage it may do when it falls the rest of the way.

DH is ready to move to Florida. I told him that hurricanes do much more damage than an ice storm, but he said that at least you're warm when you're cleaning up. He hates being cold.

Sorry to hear about your ice storms, goofyfordvc. We had the bad snow just before Christmas and I was worried that my ponds de-icer couldn't keep up with the 0 and below temps. Well, now we have no snow, just lots of rain and floods for some poor people. I'm happy to say my fish are swimming around not floating.

We now have our CC#. Do you think I have to pass it along to MS or will DCL automatically do that?

ohiominnie, was the snow gone by the time you came back to Ohio? We came back from WDW on the 23rd to find our car was very much plowed in at the airport. Some true Ohio angels came around to help us out. What a mess that was. My Buster sort of stays and lets me wipe his paws, but yes, we have lots of mud right now.

We got off the cruise 12/28. Went to Mike's mom's house. Got a call there from the ppl watching the cat and house. They wanted permission to have our drive plowed b/c the snow and ice was so packed.

By the time we got home on 12/31 everything was pretty much melted and all that was left was the big piles in parking lots where snow had been plowed.

Mud mud mud. It's better than it was....she used to drag it all the way through the sunroom and into the kitchen, but now I can at least stop her and semi-wipe her paws. The sun room is still muddy right around the door, but it's much better. Of course, there are mud splatters all over from where she's shook off.

I am loving my new winters. Yes this is our first "winter" in Orlando.

Todd has already acclimated to the weather. He wears his sweater when its not really that cold. We also already have a rule that no going to new england in the winter months.

Yep I am very lucky.

Cheryl

I know what you mean Cheryl. I'm in St. Pete and I don't miss those Chicago winters at all. I've been here for 8 years now and my DH always says, we're not flying up north from November through May. We have done it a couple times, and he makes it known that he hates it.

So do you think we will have a pirate night???

Are you going to dress up if they do?

Oh, I hope they have a pirate night. I'll probably dress up if they do. I thought they only had these special nights on 7-day cruises. Of course, this is a DVC only cruise, so they can spice it up anyway they want. I'm hoping for something very magical!!

So who wants to talk about Key West?

Have you been there before?

If so what did you do?

Mark and I have been twice now so we have some ideas but would love to hear from others.

We will be going to the Margaritaville Store while we are there. Other than that maybe just absorb some local fun. I seem to remember something about an old train tour or??? anyone know what I am talking about? Anyway once we get home from WDW we will be planning this trip even more.

Steve

Steve. I think you are talking about the Conch Train Tour. You can do it on your own or book it through Disney. It gives a great overview of the island and is easy to get to (a short walk from the ship).

You can also take the Trolley Tour. That's what we did. The nice thing about the Trolley Tour is that you can get on and off at different stops. Warning - if you book the Trolley Tour through Disney they don't let you get off. The most cost efficient way is to book your tickets online before you leave. Great way to see the island.

We went to Key West in October 2003 with the Cruisetoberfest II crew and several of us did a scavenger hunt put on by someone on Key West. Most of us rented the little cars and had a blast looking for all the clues. This time, because we have 2 little ones now, we are probably going to do the Trolley tour (booked on our own) and DH wants to make sure that he goes to the top of the lighthouse after seeing your pictures. He wants to see the view. He also mention a couple of other things that he wanted to do, but I don't remember and he's working today.

Mary
When we went on the western cruise in March, I was kind of bored with Key West. We took the trolley and saw everything, but I'm sure there is more to actually do. I need you to advise me so that I can tell the newbies with me things to MUST do. I may actually even consider it if you think it is that good.
What about any beaches there? One teenage girl who will be with me is beach crazy.
Bill

We will most likely walk down to the Southern most marker can, visit Divers Outlet, have some conch fritters, go down to Captain Tony's just to get out of the heat.
