Personalized gift. Can you imagine all that work..... :cool1:

what in the world could it be?? Any guesses??

It says personalized items so it may not be a gift as you normally think of gifts.

On the last Member Cruise our lanyards had inserts in them that had our names and home towns on them. I'm thinking it is something along those lines again.

Got ours too! Why didn't they put anything in about pirate night? They could have at least mentioned it so those who want to dress up can.........

Interesting about the "pin release". Must have your card. That oughta be interesting. Hope they aren't setting themselves up for another sleep out like on the Panama Canal Cruise. Although, we could say it would be the first slumber party on the Wonder since ours happened on the Magic!

I'm getting more and more excited as it gets closer!

Good to know. Well then I guess if anyone wants to take on the assignment of working with Shutters we could get a group photo.

I can handle working with Shutters. Do we want to do a group picture on pirate night when alot of us are dressed up in pirate costume? Give me some ideas. On the PC cruise we did it at 8 p.m. sharp so the main seating was done and the late seating had gotten out of the Walt Disney Theater and were waiting for their dinner.

Give me feedback and I'll take care of the details.

Also, for the Member Homecoming when we reserved our spot they asked for exact spelling of names - but I don't remember getting anything with our name on it.

The lanyards on the 1st Member Cruise were cool. We still use ours.

I hope the pin thing doesn't turn into a fiasco like on the May repo cruise. I also hope that all the DVC Members who want a pin for themselves (for a memory of their cruise) get them before other cruisers start selling them on e-bay.

I'm with Cheryl regarding the picture being done on a different night than pirate: night. I think the 8:00 PM sounds like a good idea. If it worked out good for the May cruise it should be perfect for this cruise.

I totally agree about the ebay thing. I'm all for pin collectors and traders as we collect them. We had a real bad experience out in DCA for their first anniversary and standing in line behind pin buyers who were all planning on how much they were going to sell them on ebay for.

I also feel so sorry for those people on ebay who get dupped into buying "exclusiive" merchandise like luggage tags and menus that people get on the ship for free.

As for the group picture. I too would like to have it not be on Pirate night. I almost wish it could be a time when we could all be in our matching shirts. That worked out so cool on the 10 day cruise (even though Mark and I were in formalware).

I just got an "updated" newsletter email, but I can't tell what's different about it. Anybody know?

Good question. i don't have them side by side, but reading the new one I didn't see anything that stood out as being different.

Woo Hoo - 2 hours 39 minutes to go and I get to tell them where they can stick this job.

I start my new job tommorrow morning as an EDP Auditor. I am going to get paid to play with computers.

:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

The stress from this job was resulting in physical problems, thus time to leave. Hopefully I will be back to my cheerfully, evil self soon. (Is that an oxymoron or what)

MaryJ: I just got it also. Will read it over and see

It doesn't matter to us when the group photo is taken. It worked out well on Pirates Night at 8 p.m. on the May cruise. It was a very large group also and we all seemed to make it on time and gather in an orderly manner.

As far as the pin(s) are/is concerned, that is great that they will have one representing our cruise. If someone wants to sell them on E-bay, then it is their problem or concern. If they put them up (without getting the merchandise first) and then they don't get the merchandise, it is their problem to explain to their buyer and they are subject to sanctions or whatever course is taken by the buyer or E-bay.

It doesn't make any difference if they are pre-sold or not. It is definitely allowed by the rules of E-bay. People sell their merchandise to those who can't afford to go on a cruise but will pay the e-bay prices.

If Disney had a problem with their menus being sold, they they shouldn't give them out. They know what is going on. People do not get taken in, they know what they are buying and they look for those items after special cruises. They can afford $25. for an item, but not $2,500 for the cruise.

I was on the May cruise and I bought some of the Repo pins on E-bay and I was there to even get them.

After last year's Member Cruise, E-bay was "flooded" with sellers and the Member merchandise. Those prices were outrageous, as I remember.

There are pros and cons on both sides and everyone has their own individual opinion. I don't judge people by whether they sell their items or not or what they do in their lives.

Just my 2 cents about the merchandise.

THIS IS GOING TO BE AN AWESOME CRUISE AND WE ARE A GREAT GROUP AND I SURE HOPE WE GET THE SCRAPBOOKING CLASS IN AT A TIME CONVENIENT FOR EVERYONE, as most everyone wants to be part of it.

I know that it is being worked on from a personal standpoint and I hope it gets accomplished.

The email to submit Mr. Lewis a question changed.

Good job Cheryl! I knew someone would figure it out! You get top marks for proofing!

Just as another note on the E-bay subject. There was another thread that was shut down in May because of discussing an E-bayer selling and I do not want it to happen to this thread. If anyone has a problem with any of that, a PM should be sent to that person and not on the thread.

Kay i think there is a big difference between that thread - which pointedly named names on a particular ebayer and a discussion on what people do or don't like about ebay.

I've bought things off ebay - pins and Mark's two member event Polo's. I just don't care for those who buy the max of everything with the sole intent of selling it on ebay and others are left out in the cold.

I actually preferred getting the pins the way we did last time which was as a gift in the room when you first came in. Sure there are some people who aren't pin collectors and they sold them. We actually did a very nice trade with one of ours with a fellow DISer.

Yes, Mary. In the room is perfect. That's the best way. I surely wish they would have done that in May. We even suggested that it be done that way after the first two vouchers were given out, 'cause we saw it coming. But they didn't listen to us. And it resulted in the big "sleep over". Now looking back on it, it was sorta fun.

Speaking of submitting questions - anyone going to do this?

What are you going to ask?

I think Jim Lewis has been great for DVC and look forward to hearing him talk again. He did a great job at Member Homecoming.

I was thinking of asking if DVC will be upgrading all of the sofa beds to the new type.

Cheryl

We just received the Cruise News Update and from the regular mailman we got our Island Gram - it sure is a DVC day here today!
