WOW, it really has been quiet around here!!! It must be nice weather everywhere and people are out enjoying it.

Well, after our garage sale yesterday, we were on our way to a birthday party about 45 minutes away. We got on one of the bridges that takes us back over to Tampa and right away, the traffic stopped. Then, on the last entrance ramp to the highway, before the bridge, there was a police car and they were letting people turn around and go up the wrong way of the entrance ramp. It looked like the bridge might have been closed down. So, we turned around like so many others and made our way to one of the other bridges. We found out late last night that an SUV had a tire blowout and ended up going over the bridge into the water. There were 4 people in the car (mom/dad/2 sons). Mom, dad and one son got out ok, but one son was stuck in the car. Two good samaritans happened by (one was a nurse) and dove into the water. One guy got the boy out and the nurse gave him CPR. He's in critical condition, but is alive. No wonder the bridge was all backed up. I sure hope that little boy is ok.

I heard about this on CNN earlier this evening. Thoughts and prayers go out to the family. Annmarie

WOW, it made CNN?!?!?! I didn't realize that it was on the national news. It's just such a tragic story. They said in the paper that if it wasn't for those 2 good samaritans, the little boy would not have made it alive.

Congratulations Mark and Mary - Happy 15th Wedding Anniversary!!

Here's to the next 15 years of wedded bliss

We spent the afternoon yesterday at my DH's cousin's house. She lives in Newburgh and her home was hit by the tornado that came through yesterday. You just can't imagine the damage. It looks like a war zone. Thankfully, she and her husband were not hurt. I have lived in this tornado prone area all my life, but this is the first time I have ever seen the damage one can do. So sad.

Mary - so glad to hear that your sister and brother in law were not hurt. We were shocked when we heard the news of the tornado. Very sad.

I'm so happy to hear that your family is ok. The devastation from that tornado was incredible!! Just so sad. Too many natural disasters this year!!!

Mary, I'm so glad they are okay. Possessions can be replaced, people cannot.

When I was a child, the tip of a tornado knocked our chimney down and continued onward and downward to destroy a home being built across a field. I still remember that sight so many years later.

A couple years back, a home kiddy-corner behind us was hit by lightening. The home was severly damaged. Fortunately, the people got out and have just recently been able to move back in after all the damage was finally fixed.

These are two sights I will always remember. I'm sure you will carry the visions on with you forever also.

Yikes!
I'm glad to hear everyone is ok.
We had a tornado in NY about 6 or 7 years ago and it came within 5 miles of my place. That was close enough for me. I kept waiting for it to hit us since we live in a mobile home and you know they are tornado magnets! LOL!

Mobile homes are known as hurricane magnets here in Florida. I guess that they get a bad rap, weather-wise, anywhere you go. :rotfl2:

Did anyone watch "Category 7" on tv last night. they had tornado watchers and they were tracking one and saw a mobile home park and sure enough that's were it hit!
It was like a bad joke!

Oh that's scary Stacy! Matt's parents live in a mobile home and this is a worry I have for them - too many lovely trees on their land and no basement makes for a worried future DIL for sure!

Growing up in Iowa we had several tornadoes rip through my home town and I remember many nights in the basement with the flashlight or under the desk at school. Here in Texas I put the dog on a leash, hook it onto me and we get in the closet - now I miss the basement!

So is mine....must not be me either! :)

Here's an update....remember the cat that wandered into our yard?? (Amy, you remember, right? The Maine Coon?) Well, the shelter called yesterday and they had a spot for him....finally!! Since it's getting cold here and he was NOT liking staying outside, we decided we should take him and let the shelter find him a home. It is a No-kill shelter (hence the long waiting list to get him in) and they said they WOULD adopt him out on two conditions....he had to be adoptable---meaning he couldn't be vicious, and #2, he had to test negative for FIV (cat version of HIV)

Well, they called today to tell us he tested positive and they had no choice but to put him down. He wasn't MY cat...just a stray we took care of for awhile, but I do feel bad because yesterday he was here, out hunting and being pet by us when we went outside. Today, he's going to be put down. :(

I'm sorry to hear this about your friend. I know that even though he wasn't really a part of the family, it is still sad news. :grouphug:

I'm a huge pet person so I know how you feel.
We had to put my parents cat down a few years ago. Well I brought the cat to the vet to get the shot and stayed in the room when they did it.
Yes I know everyone is now thinking I'm nuts but to be honest I'm so glad I stayed. She had a familiar face with her as she drifted off, and I had a better sense of closier.
