We're finally starting to unpack.. and found something funny.

I have someone else's pen. It was handed to me when we were in line filling out the Member Challenge cards.

It's white and blue and says 'STAT Promo Solutions', does someone want it back? I have no idea who I got it from.

We are thinking of taking our print in to be framed and add another mat with all the pins into it. I think that would look really nice. I just don't know what color mat I want and what color frame. Any ideas?

I love that idea so much I'm going to steal it. Maybe do a double layer mat and have a box cutout in each corner in the top mat for the 4 pins?

Looking at the print and pins... I'm thinking mid to pale blue top mat, gold bottom mat for the border around the print and behind the pins.

Speaking of Stacy---yoo hoo :rolleyes1 We went to Fridays for dinner tonight and as I was pulling into the parking lot I said, we should have called Stacy!! But the kind young man quickly brought me one of those GIANT ultimate margaritas....and I forgot all about you! :rotfl2:

I'm feeling the Love Diana!...LOL!
 :rotfl:
We ate at Red Robin last night. Jeff had to go to Long Island for work and got back around 3pm so we went out to eat because he was really hungry and I was to tired to cook.
This week was a little nutso here.
Sunday - did some unpacking and I had a Cub scout Committe Mtg
Monday - Back to work (it's was very hard to get up that morning)
Tuesday - more unpacking and Jeff was packing to go out of town
Wednesday - Jeff left for Long Island, I went to work for a few hours then had to go to a funeral and after that I had to bring Nick to Albany Med to see a Ped. GI then home for dinner & homework
Thursday - Had dinner at Mom & Dad's and had Open house at school to go to.
Friday - crazy day at work and Jeff cam back from Long Island.
Today we are just trying to clean to house because it looks like a bomb exploded in here :crazy2:

And the TZ moments continue... now that I've finished posting trip reports on the live thread, we are about to do the same to our similar appearing dining room....

DH and I were thinking of doing the same thing. I think that would look really cool!

Cool.
Got to got check out your posts on the tread.

Oh and Mary, I love the picture you got of the group at Cape May.
I don't have many group pictures so I can't wait to get the completed cd from the CD share/swop.
I know someone will have a picture of something that I didn't get a picture of.
I can't wait to see the pictures other people took.

AAARRRGGGHHH!!!

I'm one of the ones who had to have my house completely clean before leaving. The kind of clean where you pull out all the furniture and sweep under and behind it, not just around it. It was sparkling and shining when I left

So, we get home late last night and find that while we were visiting Mickey and Minnie, some of their relatives were visiting us.....every room of our house has evidence of the party they had while we were gone!!! Poison is out. Traps will be set soon, but in the meantime I've been cleaning and cleaning.

And unpacking. We finally unpacked the last of the 8 suitcases we came home with and found new homes for nearly everything. Of course, this does NOT account for the TWO boxes of stuff we had to ship home from Wilderness Lodge (I did not trust those tins and clocks and such like to not be damaged in my suitcases)

AND....to top off my lovely day, I was getting something off the counter as I sent Mike and KT on their way to the OSU game....and happened to see....ACK!!!! Mike's sister's bridal shower is today. WAAAAA. I so don't want to go. Unfortunately, I'm not one to lie and say "Nick is ill" or some other such concocted story.... so I guess I'll be wearing my wrinkled dinner clothes from the cruise (the ones who have been locked in a garment bag since September 7th!!)

(sigh)

But the REALLY good news is....

For those of you who don't know....my son's security blanket ("cold blankie") turned up missing. We notified the room steward, checked with lost and found at Port Everglades, but nothing turned up. I talked to the lost and found lady later that day to see if it had made if off the ship and she said she hadn't seen it, and that once all of the passengers are off of the ship, they aren't allowed to bring anything else off the ship (U.S. Customs rule) so if they *did* find it, it would probably be taking another cruise before she knew about it.

Sure enough,...the Wonder came back into port on Sunday the 11th and Cold Blankie was on it!! They mailed it back and we got it today when I picked up the mail from the USPS. He smells good. He must have gotten caught up in the laundry! He WAS a white blanket with blue and pink bears on it. But now it is a white blanket with pale blue and white bears....apparently DCL uses a lot of bleach!!

That dog got a FREE 3 day cruise!!!!

WTG, DCL lost and found!

Hi all - I didn't get to go on the member cruise because my dad (84) had to have surgery on 9/1. He had an abdominal aneurism. The surgery was a snap, and he is already back to his daily mall trips (meets up with other walkers). Thanks for all of your good wishes.

It ended up being a very good thing that I was not on that cruise (much as I hated to cancel). As you all know Katrina happened just before the cruise.

I own a condo in New Orleans and have many, many friends there. I am so glad that I was in Arkansas to follow the news and to provide shelter. We have one evacuee staying with us.

I had an email list for my friends and was able to track down everyone and provide a central point for people to check in. It was such a relief for us to be able to get in touch with each other. I could not have done that from the cruise. I think I was meant to be at home.

A nice story - our evacuee got a job right after she arrived at a small store in an upscale neighborhood. A guy walked in one day handed her some money (that she tried to refuse until the owner told her to take it). The guy left and she looked down, and he had handed her 19 $100 bills. As she left town with $200 and a 14 year old car to her name it was very much appreciated.

I will be one of the first in line for next year though!

Karen - great news on finding the blankie!

Hey Gary - Cindy and I have just been pm'ing about this. :)

Just coming up for air here too. It is a great idea about matting the pic with the pins. Love that will tell DH and see what he thinks.

Have to go see what else is happening. Have not had any computer time so it will take a great deal to figure out what all is going on.

I must say that the cruise waws certainly quite enjoyable and sharing with DISers was the best!

Only problem was on the turnpike. First we got hit with a major storm, then an accident happened well in front of us and took well over an hour to clear. But we are here!

TZ moment. We landed DURING that storm and we got stuck in traffic on the turnpike too!! Trying to get to Mike's mom's house...finally we pulled off and had dinner at a rest stop and by the time we were done the traffic had cleared.

Btw, we left Ohio and it was sunny andd 85 degrees. Landed in FL and it was storming and 75!!!

Looking at Ophelia, she seems to be lingering and I am glad Capt. Henry made the decision he did.
(Note to those who name hurricanes--stay away from Shakespearean charachter names!)

I also thought our disembarkation was smooth and as best as could be expected since I had no idea what to expect!! It's easy getting off at Port Canaveral as I'd done it 5 prior times....getting off at Port Everglades was tricky b/c I didn't know where to go, what to do, etc...but DCL guided us through it seamlessly. The snacks for the bus ride back were a nice addition!!

The only thing I didn't like was being dropped off at PC and not being able to pull the car around for the luggage. And no porters to help. So we schleped 7 suitcases and all of our carry ons to the car in the wind and rain. Luckily we were parked in the close lot so we didn't have far to go. I do understand that us all pulling the cars up with all of the busses would have been dangerous and chaotic!

btw, can anyone confirm this? I heard that Port Canaveral was closed. So Capt. Henry didn't really have a choice but to dock somewhere else.

had anyone else heard that?

I meant to ask this right when we got home and totally forgot. Were Cindy and I the only people on the entire cruise who got on a bus that didn't have snacks?? :confused3 It's not like we were hungry (we'll my girls were!) but when we boarded the bus we were told there would be a snack waiting for us. We got on the bus....no snack. Then the very nice DCL lady got on the walkie talkie thingy and said something along the lines of "Dan likes a clean bus, so no snack for you". Now I haven't complained YET. Because really, I wasn't looking for a snack.....but am I the only person who thinks that maybe in the given circumstances Dan should have just sucked it up and allowed a snack on his bus?? He did stop for a half hour for a food/rest break, which I also didn't think was necessary (but that's the commando in me!) And Dan did make me a teenie bit nervous chatting on his cell phone a portion of the trip.....I thought that was pretty unsafe and unDisney. But I come from a state where it's illegal to talk on the phone and drive, so maybe that's just me. I was hoping the time passing would heal my "wound"....but apparently it hasn't! :rotfl2:

Hmmm....yeah, I agree that Dan should have sucked it up and allowed snacks. Was it a DCL bus? Our driver told us to enjoy our snacks, don't worry if there is a mess, that someone will clean the bus for him! (this was a DCL bus) My only problem with the trip back...ok, there were two....
One was that our driver mentioned that he was called at 2:00 am and asked to come in....but that's weird b/c WE knew by by dinner time the night before. So why didn't they call the driver at 6:00 pm so he could get some rest? Plus he said he just got back from helping evacuate NO...and he mentioned how little sleep he's gotten and how tired he was. So every time he even veered one way or the other I was SURE we were going to crash. I had to totally ignore the road and play Solitaire on my iPod until my eyes were burning so I wouldn't freak out.

The other problem with the bus was NOT DCL's fault. Just a rude persons. We were given a set amount of time for our rest stop....I can't remember, I *think* it was 30 minutes. I made sure EVERYONE in our party was back on that bus in about 22 minutes because I didn't want to hold everyone up. Almost everyone else was back by the 30 minute deadline. When the bus driver yelled back "is everyone back on the bus?" a guy yells from the very back "no, my wife isn't here yet." She was SEVENTEEN minutes late getting back on the bus. Now, I will cut her a bit of slack b/c she was carrying an infant, a couple of bags, and some food....but now I need to wonder about the husband who couldn't get off his butt and help her get down the aisle. Instead every passenger on the aisle got a kick in the head from the infant and a smack in the head with the diaper bag. Just thought that was a bit rude of the both of them (her for making us wait and him for not helping her) but it is no way DCL's fault.

btw, I wasn't that hungry either, but the fresh fruit sure tasted good. I hadn't had a banana all cruise long....why would I when I could eat all of the rich tasty stuff instead? But a banana was just pure snackin' simplicity! ;)
