What a bummer! We just received a call from MS telling us that our waitlist for the Members Cruise came through this afternoon. We just arrived home from WDW two days ago, so we weren't able to make a ressie for this cruise. If MS had only called a week earlier!

Have Fun all of you Fellow DVC Members!!!

Sorry you "missed the boat". Hopefully there will be a next time. :)

Alright guys!!

GOAL: 9,000 posts by Cruise Chat on Friday night!!! Come on lurkers, come on out. We know that you're out there, because Mark made TONS of pins. Come say HI, we want to get to know YOU too!!!

I took Madison to story time at the local library. My neighbor across the street takes her 2 young kids, so we joined her today. What a great time. It's more like songs & dancing, and then a story, but Maddie liked it.

Story time at the library is one of my daycare kids favorite outings. When we skip a week, I really think they feel cheated. I think they look forward to someone other than me reading them a story. Our library does a wonderful program for the kids and it seems to flow nicely together with whatever the theme of the week happens to be. A couple of the librarians have been doing it a long time so I think that helps.

Glad you and Madison had fun. It's nice you get to do something special with just Madison.

Yeah, it's nice to just play with Maddie. I got to with Emily, so when I was laid off last year, it wasn't that sad.

Good for you! This task is on my list of "things to do today".

We just started school yesterday and not only did Cameron come home from school with homework, but I had homework also. Good required reading for the parents -- 5th grade policies in writing. This is a first I've seen at this school. I had to sign that I was aware of where the teacher stood as well as what was expected of the kids. I'm not always a black/white issue type of person, but I think knowing the expectations ahead of time is a big plus.

Unfortunately, nothing in there about extended absences.

I'm just trying to decide whether an early morning phone call or an email is better? :worried: Any opinions? I'm kind of thinking the phone call is a bit more personal?

The 5th grade policies in writing must be a common thing. We had a paper like that last year when dd was going into 5th grade.

For vacation absences I used to always send in a letter a couple of weeks before. Last years teacher used her e-mail all the time, so I e-mailed her. She liked the e-mail because she could answer when she had time. I always told her that I would leave the option of getting the homework ahead of time or after we get back up to her - which ever was more convienient. I assured her that all homework would be turned in in a timely matter. DD's teacher last year had her do a journal of where we went and some facts & pictures about the countries we visited. She also had to show on a map of where she traveled too.

Better yet, could you imagine getting 11 days notice that you are going on the cruise? :faint:

I'd much rather be on this side of the coin.

What's going on with your sister? Sounds like you can't wait for the day your girls are 12 :scared:

I have never.....been to Key West, but that's going to change in 12 days!!!

My friends are joking with me that this is my summer of firsts. Before this summer I had never been camping and never been to a fair (like a county fair) either.

Never in the past have I felt hesitant. I guess I'm just having 5th grade jitters. :guilty:

Thanks for sharing your experience.

I know it's something that needs to be done. That's why I just emailed Gary to see if he wants to handle it. Yep, I'm a chicken! :earseek:

I'll add mine. I have never taken anything from a store when I knew it was stealing.

I did when I was 4 -- I took a balloon and my mom drilled into me that "they" knew in the store I took it. I never stepped back in the store again. :sad2: Quite an accomplishment for a 4 year old.

I definately learned my lesson. I bit too well --

When I was in 5th grade (same age as my son is now :( ) two of my girl friends went into Walgreens and proudly walked out with new pairs of earrings. I could not believe they did that and I insisted they go right back into the store and return them. They couldn't understand what my problem was and why I reacted the way I did but they must have known I would have "told" so they walked back in and returned them.

Better yet, we were still friends afterwards -- I just always reminded them to not take anything from the stores when we were together. ;)
