Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

Hi all! Just back from a wonderful weekend at Yosemite. I believe it was David who said it feels like fall in the east, but here in the west, we are still feeling like summer! It's 81 degrees outside and I live at 7500 feet! The weather made for a great Labor Day weekend of hiking and biking. Since we often have snow on the ground in to June, I appreciate every warm day we get.

Now that we are back though, the countdown to Magic really begins - I love looking at everyone's counters going down, down, down! We leave our house in 23 days! :yay:

Have a great day!
Kathie

Kim,
Did you check Taget for sunscreen? I think they carry it year round.

Anyone else get pre-vacation stress? I do, somewhat, just trying to make sure I have everything pulled together for me and my 3 girls. DH is on his own to get his things packed!

Cindy,
Thanks for the great idea of target. Hav enot been there in a while forget about it sometimes.

I always till DH he is on his own for packing and at the last minute, I hear could you just get me a few things and put them in the suitcase. So I guess I will just start off by packing him to.

Have to finish homework and then off to bed for the boys..

Kim

i usually wait till the last minute to pack...this backfired last year because I thought I had a week to pack...but Hurricane Wilma hit on Monday and I had no power till Tuesday night before I left town early to escape the crazy people!

Hi all!!! Or should I say goodnight to all? :faint:

Kathie, how awesome you went to Yosemite. :smooth: I went there back in the late 80's and it blew me away. Told the DH, we have to plan a trip there in the future!!! I have wonderful pictures, but they do not do justice to the real thing.

First day back at school for the DS and I'm tired. Cooking some sauce/gravy depends on were you come from for some pasta tomorrow.

Targei (Target), almost as good as Jacque Sei Pennei or (JC Penny). ;) ;) Still have to get the sun block with sea lice protection. DS aka Patrick came down with a nasty case of it the last day at Disney's Island. I don't want to go through that again.

Well wish all a wonderful night, may all your dreams be filled with Pixie Dust. pixiedust:

David: Some of the rooms at the Ron Jon have an awesome view of the channel, I watched the Magic come into port 2 years ago from our balcony...it was something I will never forget! ;)

:teeth: DD begins first day of preschool tomorrow :scared: , I think I'm more worried :worried: about it than she is but the good news is this was the hump in our countdown :hourglass to magic so its all down hill for here, better start organizing. :goofy: Lisa

Didi,
I have never heard of suncreen with sea lice protection. What brand has that?

Good Morning! :sunny:

Another day closer to the cruise. :woohoo: :woohoo:

Hope everyone has a great day. I'm sipping on my delightful cup of java juice this morning. :cloud9: I'm making mac and cheese for Patrick's lunch and then I'll get the menfolk up.

Yes, Cindy and Beachball, it's safe sea. :) I'm ordering at least two bottles. Already Patrick is talking about his experience and told me he doesn't want to go in the water. :sad2: I have to reassure him that there is special cream and he won't have those nasty sea lice attacking him again. :)

Well got to get going!

:) :) Good morning to everyone. :sunny:

I am up with 2 DS so far this morning. Have to get the last one up in a few minutes, then off to school and work. Michael started Pre-K yesterday and had a good first day.

We leave in 23 days!!! Ready to go. We are replacing hot water heater today. Woke up to no hot water yesterday :guilty: Thank goodness we have a great neighbor who does not mind sharing her shower with a family of 5. :)

Off to get boys ready
Kim

Ouch! Sea lice? Are they really a big problem? :confused3

I had a mushy Mom moment yesterday when I realized DS would be starting Kindergarten in exactly a year. I'm not ready for my baby to start school. :sad2:

On the brighter side...just 24 days until we set sail. DBF asked me to start looking at the online check-in. Eek! I can't believe it's at that point already.

Hi Mammaraven,

We went on the Eastern Carribean Cruise the same time last year. We also thought that the season was over for the sea lice. We soon found out when we brought a crying scratching 8yr to the First Aid station at Disney's Island and were told that they were indeed sea lice. They had an onslaught of others kids crying and coming in with the same thing. He had little red bumbs on certain areas of his body, The people at the First Aid station told us to keep washing him and tell him not to scratch, yah right!!! I do believe safe sea has two types one just for the sea lice and the other with sun screen number 30. I figure it will be killing two birds with one stone if I get the sun screen. After last years experience, on our last day, I'm going for the sea safe, at least two bottles.

Well back to work for me.

TTFN

UGH! DD is so susceptible (Sp?) to these sea creatures, too :confused3 . She always gets "chiggers" or those other little bites in the lakes here. Just one more thing I have to buy! Did you get this at Target or do you have to buy it online?

Hi All,

Check out this great thread: Everything you wanted to know...

I seem to remember that if you rinse off the ocean water after swimming you should be OK. It's when these little critters get stressed that they hurt you. Typically you usually get affected the most where these critters get trapped against your skin. AKA: Inside your swimsuit.

Need to find my packing list from last year. How come it seems like the vacation is coming faster all of a sudden?

Gotta run...

David

Well, I am doing my docs dance    'cause I got my papers this morning. I called Betsy and told her to hurry home after work to see if hers came too. I also went to AAA this morning to book a cruise on Thanksgiving week with a friend in my building. Betsy isn't too happy with me for selecting that date to go. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
Looking forward to meeting all of you in a few more days. Anne

WOO HOO!!!

I am doin the doc dance too!!!!

Let's go!!!!!

Work at the house is progressing slowly. The outside painters are going to try to finish up tomorrow, the rain has really held things up. The stove & microware are in place, the floor is set to be installed next Tuesday, honey oak prego floor. The counter top and sink will be ordered Saturaday if DW isn't sick, her first day of school and she lost her voice, even the dog won't pay attention to her squeeky voice. Hopefully they'll paint inside when were on our cruises. Very exciting to think "24" :cool1: :Pinkbounc
