Sept. 30, 2006 -- Eastern Magic

It looks like there is supposed to be a 60% chance of showers through the caribbean most of the week. Hope it clears up!

Three more days  :cheer2:

I don't know if it was excitement or what, but my 3-year old got us up four different times last night. I'm sitting here like this :surfweb: I work Wednesday and Friday, so today and Thursday are my big packing days. It's not good to feel like a zombie when you're trying to pack! I decided to just focus on laundry and packing everything for formal/semi-formal nights, pirate night and bathing suits/beach stuff.

I thought of another last-minute thing I need to take care of--a medicine refill (why do they always run out right before vacation?!?)

I can't wait to get on the ship and just heave a big sigh of relief that all this packing and stressing is over with! I could use some positive vibes for tomorrow...a couple weeks ago I had a routine mammogram and there was a couple of spots that need further investigation. I go tomorrow for an in-depth ultrasound follow-up. If that's inconclusive I'll need a needle biopsy. My dr. thinks it's going to turn out okay, but I can't help being scared to death. I hate having this appointment so close to our trip, but it was the soonest they could get me in. Luckily I will have the results before I leave tomorrow, so hopefully I'll get the all-clear.

I can't remember if they sell ponchos on board the ship or not...anyone? I just hate to lug ours and usually we go to Disney before we sail and get them there but not this time. 60% chance rain is too good of a chance and now I'm bummed!

Kim-I'm sorry you have to go through this right now, just before va-cay...just take solice in the fact that this is just a further test to make sure that you are ok. I know so many women that have had it and it turned out fine. At least it won't loom over your head while your away. Good luck to you!

There is always 60% chance of rain in the tropics...I wouldn't think you need ponchos unless you are going hiking. It could rain for an hour and it clear up...it didn't rain but the first day last year and that was because of Wilma's tailend.

Just ordered my basket from Shirley...I AM THE QUEEN OF PROCRASTINATION!! It is from my DH to DD..he told me last night she liked the one last year, so we better do it again...so maybe HE is the procrastinator!!

Folks,

Don't get all stessed out on the weather or packing. First, it is way to far in advance for an accurate prediction for the weather next Tuesday and Wednesday. Ever follow your local weather forecast's prediction for one week out? You'll find it rarely correct. Too much can happen between now and then. Besides, whatever happens, happens! You can't do anything about it!

Packing? Is it time to start? LOL

Our family finds we have the best vacations when we just let things happen as they come. For this cruise we have no planned activities or reservations. We plan to just wait and see what we feel like doing when we get to the islands. Probably will just rent a car and explore. And as part of our stress free vacation we decided to just skip the formal night and eat at Topsiders. So come Thursday night, we wil basically throw (okay well actually roll) ours and the kids clothes in the suitcases and fly out Friday. We'll have a relaxing time at the Residence Inn, board Sat morning and send the clothes out for ironing (worth every penny).

Hope everyone has a wonderful cruise! Just don't forgrt what vacations are for!

Kim, I'll keep you in my prayers. Don't stress over it. I've been down that path in my 20's (Now I'm 41). I lost 1/2 of my right breast (no, you can't tell so if you see me in a suit, you'll never know). Mine was mass not fluid. Very scary but it was alright! No matter what they find, stay positive. It does make a difference. Just keep thinking that you're having to pay somebody to play with your ****s. It puts a funny twist on the situation. God Bless! Tracey

Dear Kim,

Keep the faith. I am so sorry to hear about your dilemma. It is really scary, and I’ve been there a couple of times and have had the procedure done. I came back with good news and my prayers will that you will too.

Okay, today and then tomorrow for work and then I’m outta here. :moped:

Kim, pixie dust coming your way pixiedust: Good luck!

Whoever was asking - I bought 2 ponchos at Wal-Mart for 87 cents over the weekend in the sporting goods section.

How much is ironing to be sent out????

3 more days! :woohoo:

I think it is about a $1 an item unless it is a suit or dress...then it may be $4...only ask for ironing..not laundry

Cool, the price is not so bad for ironing. I still pack my travel iron, but it really does not work to good. I hate wrinkles.

Has anyone gotten their hair cut and colored while on a cruise? I was suppose to get my hair done today, but my hairdresser is out with pneumonia. Oh well, small pototoes in the scheme of things. :teeth:

1130 AM EDT TUE SEP 26 2006

FOR THE NORTH ATLANTIC...CARIBBEAN SEA AND THE GULF OF MEXICO...

CLOUDINESS AND SHOWERS ASSOCIATED WITH A BROAD AREA OF LOW PRESSURE
LOCATED ABOUT 900 MILES EAST-NORTHEAST OF THE NORTHERN LEEWARD
ISLANDS HAVE NOT BECOME ANY BETTER ORGANIZED THIS MORNING.
HOWEVER...THIS SYSTEM STILL HAS SOME POTENTIAL FOR TROPICAL CYCLONE
FORMATION DURING THE NEXT DAY OR TWO AS IT MOVES TO THE NORTHWEST
AROUND 10 MPH.

ELSEWHERE...TROPICAL STORM FORMATION IS NOT EXPECTED THROUGH
WEDNESDAY.

DCL does not want anyone using a iron in their cabins...due to someone possibly leaving it on and causing a fire!! Fire = VERY BAD CRUISE!! They have irons in the laundry rooms on each deck, but as I said..these rooms are hot and dusty for using...

DiDi - Happy Belated Birthday! I was going to wait until we got on the ship, but its just another added expense so I got my nephew's wife to do the L'Oreal Color and Highlight for me. $16 for the box. Got my hair cut FINALLY the way I love it at Fantastic Sam's for $9.99. Mom, you look a lot younger! Thanks (I think!) :lmao:

Do we need to fill out the cruise docs again if we have already filled it out on-line? Several of those documents appear to be duplicates to me.

Kim - will send good thoughts your way.

I have decided to violate a basic fashion rule! My DD's are going to be wearing white shoes after labor day. (GASP!!!) Does this rule apply to caribbean cruises? It just makes it so much easier to pack one pair of white sandals for them that they can wear during the day and for dinner. I, myself, might break this rule for the same reason. White sandals go with everything!!

Cindy,

I respect the no white after Labor Day rule. However, on a cruise I believe it is okay. Don't worry about it. We'll pretend Labor Day hasn't happened yet.

Tracey :ccat:

The white shoe rule does not apply south of the Florida border...
Floridians wear white shoes (GASP) right through christmas and new years!!

Cindy - way too funny! We are breaking that rule as well. My "slip on"s are white, as are my sandles. DD has white too. I don't think that rule applies to the Caribbean.

As far as jeans, I am definitely wearing them pirate night! pirate:

I am very happy to hear to hear that family will not be looked down upon for wearing white shoes after labor day!!

I got an email from Erin today, told me that the tee shirts were shipped yesterday and will arrive 2 to 3 days. I am hoping I get them by tomorrow, since we leave on Thursday.
