Sept. 26, 2009 Magic

Hey everyone! i am back from my Carnival cruise...we had a great time, but the ship was in serious need of repair, the shows were just awful (except one comedian), and the food was terrible. Luckily I was with friends who like to laugh and have a good time, so we made the best of the situation and had lots of fun!

Can't wait to get on the Magic and erase the Holiday out of my mind. There's a reason that the Holiday is being retired next month!

I'm flying to Orlando TWO WEEKS from today!!:cool1:

For the people that are flying in the night before the cruise & staying at a non-Disney hotel, is anyone using Disney transportation to get to the port? If so, how? Are you going back to the airport to catch the bus?

I'm having a very tough time - I booked a room at the All Star Sports only to find out that DCL doesn't pick up from there. We could take a shuttle to AKL then catch the bus there, but then we've got luggage to deal with too.

Invest a couple of dollars, get yourself a taxi and go to AKL (or whatever is the closest resort they pick up at; GF, Poly, AKL, Dolphin, CBR are resorts I know of). It's the easiest way if you want to do DCL transport.

Besides, you can't bring any luggage onto the resort and/or parkbusses.

I'm thinking that it was a mistake to transfer my cruise ressie to Costco Travel. I've spent all morning on the phone & am getting SOOOOOOO frustrated. Anyway, I would really like to know how everyone is getting to the port. I know I could rent a car.......

Thanks for any info!!!

How many people in your party?

DCL transfer is not cheap.
It may be cost effective to hire a limo of van from All Stars to the port.
And then do the round trip from port to Airport of other final destination.

You also can have a grocery stop included to by stuff

We are staying in the Hyatt that is inside the airport. We have done this before and it really simplifies things. We just had to call and arrange the Disney transportation. I saw some people got great rates on hotwire. If you don't want to change your reservation, I think maybe FATCAT is right. It may be cheaper to just get your own cab.

We had the same problem before our last cruise. I cancelled our reservation at the Pop Century and booked a hotel close to the airport. It was easy to take the hotel shuttle back to the airport in the morning and catch the bus.

We were going to stay at the same place this time until someone posted about getting a great deal at the Hyatt in the airport through Hotwire. I was able to get the same deal, so we will be right at the airport to catch the bus in the morning.:thumbsup2

All you Hyatt people goto the restaurant in the lobby and get the Crawfish BISQUE.

It is legendary

So no one is staying at the Country Inn and Suites in Port Canaveral pre - cruise?

I have two suites!!!

gonna Live La Viva Loca

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU! I was able to get in to the Hyatt at MCO through Hotwire for $66 + taxes. :worship:

What time is everyone catching the shuttle to the ship?

I can't thank you guys enough for the quick responses. It was a rough morning. After one phone call, I got off the phone & called someone stupid under my breath. My 4 yr old pipes up with, "we don't say stupid, mommy". I had to bite my tongue not to say, "but they are stupid!!!".

Damn kids. Why do they have to pay attention to us?! Glad you got everything worked out... maybe now you won't be crankypants to your favorite sister!!!

So glad you were able to get the great price! I hope to be on one of the first shuttles. I am so excited about going that I will probably be up and ready to go before the cruise gets into the port!!

All You Hyatt hotel people.

Just so you know the drill

Last time anyways. They may have changed it.

When you check into hotel state you are going on DCL.
They will ask you to put your bags outside your door that evening.

You will then goto buses seperate from everyone getting off the plane that day.

Disney in general when you book a air/hotel/cruise package that does not included WDW places you at the Hyatt.

So this was the routine in the past. Not sure if it has changed.
I seem to recall a schedule for the Hyatt bus to. Not sure if you have to sign up for a specific time slot or not.

Cruise documents just came.....I would have hugged the UPS guy had he not looked so serious!!!!!! :cool1:

Thanks for the info about the Hyatt FatCat. I don't know about a Hyatt specific shuttle, but was told that DCL buses run from MCO from 10am - 1:45pm. I will definitely let them know that we're going on DCL when we check in.

I'm getting so excited. Can you tell? I've posted more today than I have in the whole time I've been on the boards!

got ours today but none for Jodi hoping they show up at her house soon
