DH and I had to cancel our cruise on saturday.
We left it right up to the last possible moment, just in case anything came up but sadly it didnt.

WE GOT THE PJ BREAKFAST!!!!

They want us at Lumiere's as early as possible on Friday October 2 so I figured we will just be there when they open the doors. I dont remember if that is at 7 or 8 but as soon as I find out I will post it here and on our Facebook page.

FE -I was going to go with Gradysmommy to do ours, but I wanted to get it done sooner than later since I need to get planning DDs first birthday (two days before our cruise!), so I ended up making mine last night. It took about two hours, but I am happy with it. I just need to find minnie mouse for my pocket and we will be all done. Question for you all- did you personalize yours with your last name on the FE? I did and DH was not too thrilled with the idea of our last name on it. I did it so hopefully it will prevent it from "walking away".

Great, figures, lobster night. My favorite. It just seems like there is no good night on your first Disney cruise to do a Palo night. Would anyone recommend a certain night?

FEs: We are putting our last name on it. Guess I should reconsider? I haven't ordered it yet.

Hi everyone! I'm new to this thread, as we just booked this cruise on FRIDAY!

Glad you found us Julie. Welcome. And we had several cruisers drop off this past couple of weeks. I imagine someone was on the FE list, so we lost a few and gained a few. I'm sure it's a wash. I have at least 2 or 3 extra to share.

Is the FE list on page 9 of this thread the most updated one? I am getting ready to start looking at FE gifts, and even though I'll order a few extra (for late stragglers like myself) I'd like to have a fairly accurate count if possible.

Zip ties: I hate to give away one of my FEs, but I have a little baggie with 2 zip ties and another little something that I will be dropping off on sail away day to all FE participants. So no need to add zip tie to your pack list. I put two different sized ones in since I'm not exactly sure how long of one you would need. Pam...how long should the zip tie be, so I can modify my FE gift if needed.

For those with school agers: How many days of school are your kids missing? Because my son is starting kindergarten this year, I didn't give the extra days I'm leaving before the cruise a 2nd thought. Now I'm starting to panic that I'm going to get him on his teacher's bad side. Any advice? What do your kid's schools say about taking them out for vacation? Thoughts?

my kids will hopefully be missing only the 5 days 9/28 - 10/2- maybe 6 if they count friday the 25th. the deal with our district is if they are there 1/2 day it won't count as an absence. just have to figure out what time the cutoff is (think maybe 11am) and will pick them up at the school 1 minute later i

have purchased tix to MNSSHP for friday night the 25th so we want to get to WDW by 7 or 8pm (its about an 8hr drive depending on how many potty stops we need )

my DD5 will only be about 3 weeks into kindergarten so i'm not too worried about what she'll miss. DS8 will be in 3rd grade and will have to do school work during his absence but he has done that b4 no prob. he had 6 unexcused absences last year for our DCL. i got a "warning notice" for bad parents after that but his teacher was aware and unconcerned (he is doing great academically so they couldn't really threaten to hold him back a grade). after 10 unexcused absences they can send me to truency court - fortunately there are some friends on this thread that i can consult for legal advice

your school district should have a handbook that you can consult for absentee policy. check it out so you know what your facing. then talk to the teacher and/or principal to let them know your plans and reasons. there's probably not much work that needs to be "made up" for kindergarten but I offered to take the work and lesson plan info w/ me and help my DS with whatever he needed while we were gone. I intend to help kids keep a journal of our trip to document something new they learn each day for presentation to the teacher/class when they return. (ex. what she learned about dolphins on the dolphin swim excursion and she can show pix to class). if you let them know you are concerned about their education and willing to work with them and within the rules they will probably be ok w/ it. good luck

SSSOOOOOO excited that we got the PJ breakfast!!!! Will definitely be checking out the shopping scene for some cool disney themed PJs! now to see if I can get DH to wear something cute too - last year I roped him into wearing a disney tie for our Christmas pix. but don't think his christmas Mickey boxer shorts would be appropriate for lumiere's

No idea, yet! I'll need to get myself a proper PJ first of all. Probably not disney-themed though, we've got a lot less assortment of disney stuff for adults and don't want to spend my short week at WDW looking for PJ's. So surprise-PJ it is.

No, worry! You can still eat lobster in Palo or in both!!

Wow I must be the unlucky one I have been called for Jury duty 4 times...Once Every day I had to call in and on Friday it was the "thank you for your service" message. The second time I got all the way to the Judges Chambers and we were all dismissed...the "bad guy" plea bargined out once he saw all of us The thrid time I was selected to be on a civil trial...which lasted 13 days and the fourth one last year I was selected to be on a criminal trial which lasted 3 1/2 weeks...that one was tough emotionally. and physically and on my family..when your household is used to you always being home and then suddenly you are not the world just falls down Dh got called in Feburary for the 7th time..and as with ALL the others he only had to do the call every day thing.. GGGGGRRRRRRRRRRR Sometimes life is just not fair.

We always bring a few zip ties with us...so we just zip tie it to the fish..and cut it off on the last night. , it can't help your gifts from walking away, but at least your extender isn't going anywhere

Everyone should have their cabin and luggage by then and first dinner is over.

The zip ties only need to be a couple inches....just long enough to wrap around the ribbon/rope. Just make sure you can cut it off on the last night or your FE might be staying for the next person in the cabin!!

We do not want any "skimpy nighties".... Alot of people wear lounge pants/shorts and a Disney tshirt with flip flops, sandals or slippers. If you have Disney themed PJs then wear them....Just make sure you are comfy enough to wear them to the "public" breakfast because we will be getting stares!!

I just printed out Aristocats list and the one on page 9.....wanted to make sure I had page 9 the same as hers.....the only difference I see is that on hers, Bareacuda is still listed and kstategrad is not.....

I just updated page 9 for the cabin tours. We will meet on September 27 at 3pm at cabin 5509 and then work our way up to the Roy Suite. As of now we have 8 cabins on our list to tour. The length of time to tour each cabin will be determined by how many people are touring. Normally we are in each cabin no more than 5 minutes.....except the Roy Suite....that one will take a little longer!!

We do not have cabins in the following categories to tour if anyone wants to open up their cabin for a few minutes....just let me know and I will add you to the list....

I posted a picture of one of my FE a page or two back...I have someone make mine from ebay...but she is not making any right now because of her vacation...she will start back in August. I do not sew!!! The FE have pockets that you put your gifts in. Then each time you come back to your cabin you look to see what you got....just like Christmas every time you go in or out of your cabin!!!

Thanks to everyone for your kind words about us having to cancel our cruise / holiday. It will take quite a bit of getting used to, as we had a 3week trip planned.
Hopefully we will make our transatlantic cruise next year though and I think some of you might even be on that cruise too.
