Sept. 26, 2009 Magic

I had my first cruise nightmare last night! I don't remember it all, but I do know we missed one of the shows and dinner. It was so weird....

I just made our final payment!!!:yay::yay::yay:

Now just counting down the days until I can book Palo, spa, kids club! The cruise is getting so close! Eeeeeek! So much to do, so much to do...:scared1:

Woo-Hoo - - good for you!! :banana:

I'm still debating on whether or not to add trip insurance. I will make my final payment on June 15th (after my credit card has closed for the month :laughing:). Has everyone else added trip insurance? Anyone else on the fence??

Yes, definitely nightmare material...not so much missing the shows, but missing the dinners would be a sad state of affairs indeed!!

As an aside, I have to tell you guys that I am about to strangle our friends who are cruising with us. THEY STILL HAVEN'T GOTTEN THEIR PASSPORTS!!! :faint: They always do their best work at the last minute, so this is nothing new for them, but it's about to drive me crazy on their behalf! :scared: So, send me some hugs so I can hopefully not go out of my mind with worry that they are going to wait too long... I'm trying not to nag them but it's very difficult not to do so. :rolleyes:

Kpadalik; congrats on paying it off!! :)

Crystal; add it! Just think about it; we're right out at sea and TB (or you or DH) gets sick. Very sick. Sick enough that they decide she needs to be airlifted to the closest hospital. That is bad enough, no way you'ld want to have to face the bills afterwards.

I've always got travel insurance added when going abroad. Luggage that gets lost or damaged; oh well, too bad. But NO way I want to be underinsured for medical coverage. It's bad enough if you need medical help while abroad, I certainly don't want to worry about going bankrupt over it. That, getting my money back if something happens to my loved ones and I need to go back, and having all extra expensis covered if for instance the cruise would get diverted due to the weather are all major reasons for me to get the basic travelinsurance.

How long does it take anyway to get passports at your corner of the world? As I understand from seeing topics pop up about it now and again, it can take quite some time??? How annoying! I already find it long enough it takes us a week to get a new one. ;)

We just got back from TA. Purchased travel insurance and made the final payment. :cool1::banana::cool1::banana:

We are so looking forward to our second cruise. We will be spending nine days in Disney World, two in the port and then onto the cruise. We had so much fun on our first cruise last year, we had to try again. We did the double dip and just loved Castaway Cay. Look forward to doing FE again, it was so much fun. Hope to have that drink Fatcat. Now we can book at the 90 day window. Look forward to meeting everyone.

Crystal; add it!

Yep - - you are absolutely right...the peace of mind is worth it!! And, as to passports, I thought that they were taking about 6-8 weeks and, if that's the case, my friends need to get on it!!

OMGoodness, your loooonggg trip sounds heavenly!! :cloud9: Welcome to the party! :flower3:

Crystal27: I understand your pain with the friends and the passports. I'm sweating gettting my name changed on my passport in time for the cruise since we don't have a final court date until the 16th of this month. I know that all the legal documents may still take a while and I'll need that before I can change my name. The courts in Dekalb county are driving me crazy. :headache:
I guess I will just have to spend the extra money and expite the name change process.

Goofieslonglostsis: Congrats on the repo waitlist. I would love to do a panama canel trip. It seems really really cool.

As for the person I'm talking to, its all good and things are looking more and more like he will be joining us on the cruise.

That's a long time all of those weeks, Crystal!

Welcome, The Panman Man! :)

Disztagal; hopefully all the paperwork gets done a lot quicker than you are fearing. I can imagine that it would simply feel 'better' to do the cruise with your changed name, like a real fresh new start and the name that goes along with it. If you end up having to pay for it because you're too close to sailing date, wouldn't that be a shame of good money!

Great to read about the good stuff with male person. He must be a good person, if he's willing to come along on a Disney cruise! ;)

Well, domestic relations used to be my forte in my prior life (now, I'm stuck doing commerical litigation - LOL), and it should be as simple as making sure that your Final Judgment and Decree lists a sentence about what your legal name should changed to (little known fact: you can actually change your first name in that process too - LOL). If your hearing is on the 16th, the judge should sign the Decree then and there. Then, you can get a certified copy of the Decree from the clerk's office (costs $2.00 for first page, and $0.50 each additional page) which you can then take to the DMV, post office, etc. Good luck, Hon!! :hug:

Goofieslonglostsis, he is a good guy. He also has a number of friends that are big Disney fans so he's used to hearing about it. He still doesn't quite understand it all be he will soon be converted. I plan to have several suprises for him so that he gets the picture.

Crystal: Thanks for the info. My lawyer is good but he's still new at divorces and hasn't done one in Dekalb so he's a little behind the 8 ball. I'm just so ready for all of this to be done. The paperwork has been in since early April and nothing until Monday. So much fun.

I got home and decided I needed a dose of Disney magic so I watched the Wonder leave port. Now I can't wait for the cruise!!!!!

Jodi ( the other princess in our cabin) Had to do a renewal and hers took about 2 wks. so there is hope.

Should we have recieved something for DCL about our cruise by know? SHould I go ? the TA or wait? It has been paid for since Feb.
just getting concerned

I just did a :yay: myself! Recieved a postcard from DCL, thinking it would be for our upcoming cruise in September. But, nop! It was from inventory control.

:yay::yay:

Has everyone else added trip insurance? Anyone else on the fence?? We didn't get trip insurance. Hopefully none of us get :sick: before hand. We'll just load up on our vitamins and get plenty of rest!

We had planned on getting them because we thought it was necessary after June 1st. But, obviously, we were wrong. It's just such a HUGE expense. Anyone else not getting passports?:confused3

I think a lot (if not all) of us have received the "welcome" to DCL packet, with the ship info and the dates as to when we can start making Palo, etc ressies. We started getting them about a month or so ago (maybe?). But if you are talking about our cruise docs, I don't think we get those until only a couple weeks before our sail date. Is this what you meant? :)

The thing we got is a very general packet of information that came in a brown "suitcase" looking thing that explains the various excursions, and deadlines for payment, etc. Do you have the ability to look at your reservation on the Disney Cruise Line website? (If you booked through Dreams Unlimited, you should have a DCL confirmation number that will get you into the DCL website). If you can get access to DCL, it might be a good idea just to confirm that all is well.

:yay::yay:

Hmmmmm, I'm going to have my friends check into this. It is a huge expense and would certainly save them some money...that they can be putting into the cruise booze fund. :rotfl:

Hey!!

About the passport-thing and maybe not getting one;

what if for whatever reason you need to leave the ship and proceed home from there instead of on the ship? I know, I know, I'm good at coming up with bad scenarios. :rolleyes1:confused3 But again; what if? The chance isn't sky-high, but those are all situation in which I personally would not feel 'happy' to be in another country without any passport.

I'm by no means telling anybody what to do, but I do know these are scenarios not everybody thinks about when thinking about getting ID/and or bringing it along.

I agree with you, Hon. That's why we got ours for our December, 2007 cruise back before they were even required. I'm a big "worst case scenario" planner too. I always think: better safe than sorry (hence why we are adding trip insurance to our cruise at this late date - LOL).

Oh, I'm so there with you on that one! (what a surprise :lmao::rotfl2: ). I tend to always get myself in some kind of trouble, so it pays to be prepared. :idea::dance3:

And now; let the weekend begin! :dance3:

Well, great minds think alike!! :rotfl:

And, lucky you about doing your weekend dance. I still have 9 hours of work ahead of me before I can start doing the weekend dance. Hope it's a great one for you! :yay:

Oh, when Sunday comes around it'll be you doing the :dance3: . My monday comes around a lot sooner than yours. :guilty: But then again, it's Sept. 26th earlier here also! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Not too much planned for the weekend yet, but somehow I've got this idea it might just become a very nice weekend. :):upsidedow

I have yet to get our general cruise info packet too so there is at least some who don't have it yet. I booked thru a TA.
