Sept. 26, 2009 Magic

our sweet DD5 broke her wrist last night! she fell face first off her swingset and sustained a buckle fracture to the right wrist! she was in some pain and it is now wrapped and splinted and she's gotta wear a sling. we will see the orthopedist next week and find out if she needs a hard cast and for how long. in the meantime she can't do her tumbling class, can't do soccer, and can't get it wet. :sad1: i'll be praying real hard that its good enough by cruise time for her to enjoy the water stuff. she loves water so it would kill her to not be able to swim in the pools and on the beach :beach: and miss the stingray feeding.

we've had such a rough month or so here that I am more and more needing the peace and tranquility of this vacation. if i can't find it on the ship, maybe i will look for it in the bottom of a hurricane glass. :drinking1 if i could just forget it all for a day..... hope i don't sound disturbed - just stressed. :scared: really it wouldn't take more than 1 hurricane glass - i haven't had an alcoholic drink in months. cheap date. ;)

chin up....

pam: the wedding is so close! so glad you aren't having to worry about the FE anymore! check that off the stress list! :thumbsup2

fatcat: the egg

:scratchin i really have to make a list for cruise prep. there are costumes to buy, dresses to alter, fe's to complete and label, door decorations to print (but our printer just broke so....), and on and on. :hourglass its ok tho - something positive to focus on. wish me luck! pixiedust:

Boy thats to bad, but several years ago I had a buckle fracture on my right wrist also. Being the type of fracture it was (I hope for her too) I was only in a hards cast for about two weeks. Then I was in a removeable split and the doctor told me swimming was good for my wrist. I hope this is for you also.

Oh, your poor daughter! I agree that if she has to wear the cast to have Mickey and friends sign her cast to make it fun for her. Here is hoping she heals nicely and will be feeling better by the time the cruise is upon us. :grouphug:

Pam- Yay! Glad the FE lady came through. Good luck over the next two weeks wrapping up the wedding plans and such. I forgot to ask, is your DD and her new DH coming on the cruise with us?

FE Gifts- I am almost done with Zuperdaaves and my gift for each cabin. We are planning on delivering ours on Pirate Night. Are we going to assign a night so there are gifts every day or is that too complicated?

Parasailing- Anyone else on the 10:30 slot getting excited??? I hope we are able to stay with most of our group. I am going by myself and a lil' nervous/excited about doing it! I can't wait to cross it off of my bucket list.:cool1:

YAY :cool1: another thing to mark off my neverending list.....

WOO-HOO - that's great news (and such a relief, I'm sure). :thumbsup2

They did look a bit  Come bring me packages and I'm responding with a 'darn, yeah those are for me'. :confused3:lmao:

LOL - I can totally see that!! :rotfl2:

our sweet DD5 broke her wrist last night!

OH NO!!! I'm so sorry! Here's hoping for a speedy recovery for your DD. The good thing is that at least your DD will have a great story to entertain the kids on the cruise with. AND, I really like Jacqueline's idea of having the characters autograph her cast. :thumbsup2

I always travel with all kinds of stuff and tricks, including some stuff that can be used to cover up wounds and is waterproof so one can still go swimming, even with stuff like stitches etc.

LOL - you're like our resident Girl Scout - - always prepared for anything! :grouphug:

Very cool! I think that I am probably going to deliver mine the first morning. I tend to get up very early anyway, and, rather than mucking around the stateroom and waking up Randy and Ansley, I'll just slip out and make my special deliveries. That way, at least Randy and Ansley will have one morning of sleeping in. :rotfl:

Can I just tell you guys how very sick I am of driving in the rain. It's been raining like crazy this entire week, so it never fails that I'm driving home exactly when it starts pouring rain. AND, this morning, I got the pleasure of driving to work in the rain too. YAY, me, right?!? :sad2:

I am so sorry to hear about your DD's wrist. I will keep her in my prayers that all will be well for the cruise. Characters signing the cast does sound like a great souvenier tho!

As soon as the wedding is over I will be in full cruise prep mode. Gosh I hope I dont forget something. I am usually so organized and trying to get everything together weeks before the cruise.

The wedding is next Saturday September 5!! Leissa and Charlie will be on the cruise. I got them the Bride and Groom Mickey ears so they will not be hard to spot!! Leissa is on facebook and they are listed on page 9 right under my name. Tomorrow I have alot of last minute things to do and Leissa is in a 4H horse show....she runs barrels and poles. Charlie is a team roper and a true cowboy!! :) So between errands and horse show, it is going to be a busy Saturday. Sunday I think we are going to go look for Pirate outfits on the coast at the party store while the selection is good.

Tomorrow is also the 4th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina hitting our gulf coast. Alot of memorials going on. Seems like yesterday we were sitting in the house waiting for it to pass and then came the long weeks of no power or water......and was it HOT!!!!!!

Gotta get busy with my day....Have a great day and talk to you all soon!!!

Hal001, I am so sorry to hear that your DD suffered a wrist injury. How are you coping? If she is getting a cast she better get in pink, if they offer?
Nice suggestion from Jaqueline! :thumbsup2

Unfortunatelly, I have to work tomorrow! :confused3 12 hr shift at time and a 1/2. I was on call and the weekender called off. Not the way I was planning a weekend. At least this extra $$ will go toward spa treatments.:banana: Anyone planning to have spa treatments, excluding Rainforest passes?

Rebecca, did you decided on what to do in St Thomas. I have been reading reviews of the suggested tour guide and so far so good. Let me know. You can read the reviews on tripadvisor.com.

Pam, Love the Weddings! I should of been an Event Planner!

Busy day in ER for us! Dr. Spanner is here or as we call him Dr. Scanner :scared1:

DH and I are still debating on the rasual. We did it last cruise and it was fun, but I think that I would prefer passes to the Rainforest this time instead. Hmmmmm, maybe I can talk him into both. :rotfl:

Sounds like you are working up quite a nice budget to go to the Spa. :thumbsup2

Both Lieske and I will be having a massage. Besides that, we've got unlimited access to the Rainforest room as part of our package. Sounds like there will be quite a few of us in the RFR, yet another cruise-meet-thread-meet. :rotfl:

Crystal, I've heard that Rasul treatment "can" be a lot of fun. :lovestruc
So far I am booked for Elemis Ocean Wrap and an Elemis Facial, love those. I also had a Cabana Massage scheduled but cancelled it. I saw the pictures of cabana on webshots and I was turned off. Anyone else?

Also I am thinking of "smuggling" some margarita mix onboard and I found these unique things called rumrunnerflasks.com. FatCat, any comment/suggestions?

Jacqueline, what is an RFR and MSSHPS (can't even spell it)? :confused3 You're always full on acronym's.

That is why I am smuggling margarita mix to save for my spa bill. I already have a large amt put on onboard credit + OC from DU (Dreams Unlimited).

Boba, RFR is Rainforest Room and MNSSHP is Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party (held at Magic Kingdom).

You'll get the hang of it. :) When one spends too much time on the DIS, on gets this 'moutfull-of-weird-letters' alot.

Thanks Jacqueline for explanation. So when is this Not so Scarry happening? Do you have to pay extra at the park/ Need the scoop.

Well, my DD has been preparing for a topless beach, she has been walking around the house w/o shirt or taking it off. Very funny!

A good way to start with info; http://www.wdwinfo.com/holidays/halloween.htm

Want more? Go over to the 'theme parks attractions and strategies' board here on the DIS. There are multiple topics going on about MNSSHP. (all with those letters :rotfl2: ). There are some great topics with a lot of pics.

It does cost more, but apparently is very much worth it. Number of our fellow cruise mates are going on sept. 25th. Myself and Lieske decided to go on the 22nd. Worst case scenario, we'll go again on the 25th :lmao: but we picked the 22nd so we could sleep in the next morning instead of having to be up to catch a bus to the port.

Woo hoo! Starting to gather my list of items we need to purchase the weekend before the cruise.

Anyone else start their list yet?

Fatcat -Wow, what a Dad! I'm sure your kids will love you when they realize the sacrifices you made for them with your beer! LOL!

"items we need to purchase...BEFORE the cruise?" Oh man, I've got to spend MORE money before we leave???

we're signed up for the Massage for Couples and the Rasul:thumbsup2

So far we haven't planned any spa treatments, but I am going to look into the couples massage. On our last cruise we booked the couples getaway in the private villa. The pictures looked amazing and the description sounded great, but it was NOT private. The hot tub on the deck was in clear view from several areas above and to the side of us. We could hear the spa technicians laughing and talking the entire time. For just under $500 it was NOT worth it. On the other hand, the couples massage portion was the best!

Parasailing !!! DW wanted to do this so bad, then she got life insurance and in the fine print it said NO PARASAILING! She was bummin :sad1: Maybe she can do some horseback riding on the beach? Does anyone know of any? Getting very excited now.
