Anyone else suffering from pre-cruise anxiety?

I'm a first time cruiser sailing solo with my 4 year old boy! Am I crazy?! What was I thinking?!

When I first booked I imagined how relaxing and perfect the whole trip would be....and now reality has set in...8 hours on a flight with a 4 year old who doesn't sit still...Will I lose him on the ship...Will he have a "4 year old" moment and will I WANT to lose him on the ship...Will I forget to pack anything...Is everything that I'll need on my packing list...am I packing too much... I won't bore you with the list but the anxiety goes on and on and on!:confused3

Pleeeze tell me that once I get on the ship that somehow magically it will make all of my anxiety melt away and I'll be able to relax?!

I am packing a good amount because I am a very particular person (Taurus - we like our creature comforts :goodvibes) and I can not stand the idea of not having what I need! That whole "ship gift shop" thing just doesn't work for me because they won't have exactly what I want. And I do wear a lot of clothes...I don't like re-wearing stuff (and Dave wears his food so that's not an option for him either!) and I hate being locked into an outfit. What if I don't feel like wearing that on that day? I like to have options. And I am freaking out about luggage transfers and all sorts of other weird things. So yeah I totally get what you mean and we can attempt to relax together :thumbsup2

Just remember to breath and take it all in. You will not be able to do it all and don't try too. Pick a few things a day that are must dos then relax. This is what we always do. Oh and I'm really nervous and this is our 3rd cruise but first with a baby. WHo knows if Bailey will behave at night or if we're going to get to eat in the dining rooms? At this moment I'm trying not to worry about it and to remember to be flexible and to relax.

This week has definitely not gone as planned. Monday was Bailey's 3 hour trial day. Took us forever to get out of the house. I forgot the bottles so we had to go back home. Then he didn't sleep (not shocking) and he didn't eat (very shocking). The boy has never passed up food. Tuesday came and I dropped him off at 830 only to get a phone call at 1130 that we had to come get him. They said he was sick with a stomach bug which he was. So he's over that now and we're going to try for him to go tomorrow for half a day. All I can think about is being at disney this time next week!!!!

Aw, sorry to hear that Bailey was sick. Hopefully the next drop off will go much smoother for you!

The first time we went on a disney cruise with our oldest DD (she was then 17 months old), we brought her with us to the first dinner, and it was a disaster....so, we ended up doing flounders the other three nights. Are planning on doing any flounders nights? I am with my soon to be minted 1 yr old on 5 of the nights...not the first, not pirate night... We will see if she behaves (we have the late sitting, so we are hoping she will be sleeping through dinner in the stroller). Good luck!

Um, you are an awsome mother for doing this with your son!! It will be great...when kids are on vacation, they usually behave better for us (or at least it seems since I am usually in vacation mode and not cleaning mode).

When my DS (now 3) was 20 weeks, we took him on a Disney Cruise. He was awesome during the dinners, we plopped him in his Bumbo chair in the middle of the table and he had a blast giggling and making faces at us all. We're hoping DD will be just as happy with this arrangement.

Haileyboo is doing as expected - groggy and vegetating on the couch. She's in pain, but better this than the 3+ month sinus infection she's had. Her doctor has cleared her to fly next week, thank heavens! The cruise would not be nearly as much fun without my wonderful sis!

Thanks for all the well wishes!

I really like the new digs.

Can we move the couch to the other wall though, I like the easterly view better. :lmao:

This is all you need to focus on. Every trip is going to have its snags, but, in the end, you are going to have a fabulous time (and, at the end of the trip, you'll wonder why you were so anxious about everything). :grouphug:

Here's hoping tomorrow is a better "trial run."

Good to hear that she's doing okay. Send her some DIS lovin' and tell her we're thinking about her and wishing her a speedy recovery! :grouphug:

Also, before I sign off and hit the bed, I have one more thing to say: JACQUELINE, if you happen to check in on us before you leave in the morning, just wanted to say that I hope you have a wonderful, magical, lovely, enchanting, fabulous, wild vacation at AKV and the parks. Make sure to take lots of notes so you can fill us in on all the details (conceirge is going to be so amazing...you lucky girl!!). Here's also hoping that all the suits in first class miss their flights so you can be upgraded!! Giant (((((HUGS))))) :grouphug::flower3::hug::lovestruc:love: We'll miss you next week, Hon!

Is there a packing list somewhere that I can print? I feel like I am missing alot. :confused3

Packing list HA, The way I see it if I don't have it oh well. And besides I'm probably only going to see this great bunch of people for 7 days and no more. So, make your impression of me what it will be!

Good to hear Hailyboo is doing well, considering. Get well soon! :flower3:

Ahhhh, now you've got me all soft melting.:love: Suits wont miss the flights, but that's OK. My rep. still is great. Besides, I'ld happily trade a lifetime of upgrades for a guarantee of getting my chairs along without major incidents. Too many of my upgrades have been to 'smooth over' things gone wrong on that front, so if you look at it from that perspective; who cares for business class?:rotfl: Just hoping we'll get upgraded on one of the flights back so Lieske can experience it once.

Only an hour and 15 minutes more to go before I leave home. :yay::woohoo::dance3::banana::cheer2: Thankfully the DIS is hear to keep me company and prevent me from falling asleep. :thumbsup2
