Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

We just received our stateroom assignment too! We're in an inside stateroom, but this is my first cruise so I have nothing to compare it to :lmao:

Inside is fabulous. You will never sleep so hard between the all day excursions, the pitch black room and the gentle swaying of the ship. You will definitely want to do a wake up call everyday or you may sleep right through to lunch! Seeing as how you probably never sleep in a windowless room (maybe.. you could be a vampire... I'm not judging) it will let your body completely shut down. Probably the best sleep I've ever gotten is from an inside cabin on a cruise ship.

If the dark is too much for you, and you are someone who needs light to get up at night, turn on the light in the bathroom and close the door. You will see light from the crack under the door.

I'm so curious why it terrified you!! Especially since now I'm wondering if maybe we got your old cabin and maybe I should be terrified too!! lol

(I will post this once I am sure no one else got it... but I know it isn't yours as we were not on deck 6. I don't want to scare anyone off just because of my weirdness with that cabin...)

I nearly spit my coffee out with that vampire comment!!! :rotfl2:

And, yes. I agree. Inside cabins are great! Heck - you're on the ship!!! We had connecting inside rooms for our first cruise and they were awesome! We slept like babies in there! The only problem we had was not being able to see the clock!

Finally got our assignment #6594... Upgrade from 7A to 5B!!

NICE!!!!! I keep hoping we'll get an upgrade at some point. But, with connecting rooms, it's doubtful! Congrats on your upgrade!!!!

We officially have a room we are going to keep! The last cabin we had terrified me for several reasons. I am happy with the inside cabin we have now (though still finding it hard to downgrade from the mini suite my DS and I stayed in last year on NCL... that is how they sucker you in... it is near impossible to go back after having an amazing balcony and large room :rotfl:). You can put us down for cabin 5139... super easy access to the kid's clubs! (Must hold back from upgrading to a fancier cabin. Must hold back... let the chanting begin. Is there a support group for this?)

OK information being added to the FE list and I will post an updated FE list at the weekend. Congrats on getting the upgrade! This is our first cruise, but then again we've treated ourselves to a verandah. I suspect we'll never be able to go backwards.

Although still not told DD anything she's picking up and keeps asking when are we going on vacation. I pointed out that she started back at school yesterday and her friends will all miss her. Problem is she's being going through my craft room where I am also stockpiling everything and found a roll-on disney princess suitcase. She won't believe it's for me!

I agree... inside is really nice. It is pretty amazing how hard you can sleep when you have no sense of what time it is! And we're not ones to hang out in our room anyway. We pretty much use it to shower, change clothes and sleep.

We had an inside cabin on our very first cruise and the one thing that bothered me was hearing noises and not knowing what they were. On port days you'll hear things like the anchor dropping, tug boats hooking up, etc. and because you can't see outside, you have no idea what's going on. (This is why I'd LOVE a virtual porthole.) But no biggie.... now that I've been on a few cruises, I know all those noises are perfectly normal. And if I'm really curious, they do usually have a channel on tv that shows the view from the bow of the ship.

Oh and be prepared that inside cabins (well, ALL cabins, really, unless you're lucky enough to have a suite or something!) are very small. That really surprised me on my first cruise, but once I got used to it I realized you really don't need all that extra room --- especially if you pack things to help you stay organized, like an over-the-door shoe holder. Can't live without it!

:lmao: Tell her it's a gift for Meg!!! Heehee. Do you have a plan yet? How are you going to tell her?

I just have to put in a plug for DU!!! I was filling in our pre-cruise sign in stuff on line and couldn't get in our second reservation. I emailed my DU agent. He got back to me within minutes and suggested something that helped (switching browsers). It worked and now we're all checked in!!!!

I'm happy that my two older boys can check their younger siblings in and out of their clubs!!!! Sounds like something so simple. But, if we're all at dinner and Meg wants to go to her club, we can send the 15 yo to check her in!! This is going to be the BEST vacation EVER!!!!!

Not sure. We'll probably tell her about the vacation at the point we have to, and the cruise at the point we leave the hotel that morning. Having done a 7 week countdown chart at Christmas to visit the family in the UK, and 11 hrs of flight of "I want to see my Nanny" plus 7 hrs of driving to CA last year of "I can't see the sea yet" I am going to hold off as long as possible. My plan probably won't work though as she's picking up on things including friends asking when we are going.

Which dinner sitting do you have? I am also really excited that you are only a few staterooms down the corridor from us.

:rotfl: I don't blame you for waiting!!

We have early, but we're considering switching to late. What about you? I have to see which room you're in!!! I knew there were a couple here on our floor - but I hadn't looked carefully enough to see who they were! Meg will be so happy to have a friend just down the hall!

We've switched from late to early. We're terrible in that we just can't eat past 7pm at night and Kirsten screams for food by 5pm so as early as we can get it. As for rooms you are in 6620/6622 and we are in 6632 so 4 between us according to the plan! But yes there are 6 FE participants on our floor so far.

Yup, our first cruise years ago we had a verandah & there's no going back now!!! I loved it!!! So excited!

Hi again!!! Welcome back! I'm finishing up the final details of our trip this weekend. It's really happening!

Question - are there any other runners here? I'm currently training for the Detroit Half Marathon and will be doing a 10 mile run on the last morning of our cruise. I'm SO looking forward to it! Will anyone else be out there with me????

I am not a runner although done 25 miles between elliptical trainer and treadmill between Sunday and Wednesday of this week. Have been on extremely strict diet for last 7.5 weeks and have lost 15.9lbs. Will keep it going until the cruise and have told my husband I want to walk/run every morning round the ship and, if possible, get in a couple of sessions at the gym. Don't want to undo this work as have worked with a Dr for the last 14 months to get to the point where my body would finally lose weight.

I am also getting those last bits together. Haven't quite finished the FEs yet and, of course, may have to add if we do get anyone else sign up. The pirate Mickey T-shirt I ordered my husband from Etsy, plus the embroidered pillowcase I ordered to get signed for my daughter arrived this week. Going through that final list of odds and ends, and going out clothes shopping with a friend in 2 weeks to get some dresses etc as the few clothes I do own are starting to look baggy. I am not a clothes person. I have enough to get me through a week and that is it. In our walk-in closet my husband has at least 2/3s of the space. You have never seen so many polo shirts/t-shirts in your life... "but I don't have one in that colour, in that fabric honey".

Looking forward to meeting you all soon.

Hey Jennifer. I am a runner & will be doing a half in fen & a 200 mile relay in April, however I've been out for over 2 Months w a fractured foot & still have 2 more weeks until I can run again. I'd love to go run w ya for maybe half four run as I'm sure I won't b up to 10 miles in less than a month! When r u planning on running bc I may have to get childcare for baby?

Congratulations on your weight loss (and on getting healthy, in general!). That's awesome!

I'm so sorry to hear about your foot! My sister was out of commission after last year's Goofy race at WDW due to a stress fracture. She's just getting started up again. I bet you're anxious to start running again! I'll be getting up early to run - probably around 5 or 6. I LOVE early morning running! Oh - and I'm not fast! 9 - 10 min/mile.

Oh and which half will you be doing? And where is that 200 mile relay? How long is your leg? Sounds like a lot of fun. I just did a Warrior DAsh a couple weekends ago. That was absolutely insane!!!!

Anxious is an understatement! I ran the surf city half in huntigton beach this past year & it's what I'm doing again in. Feb. The Ragnar relay is fr Huntington beac to coronado San Diego. My leg is 17 miles.

I will tally run w u. I'll prob b 10 min mile & I always run at 5am!! I meet 2 of my mama friends 3-4 days a week at 5am (when I'm allowed to of course). So keep my cabin # handy I'd love it!!!

Another morning runner!!!! Awesome! So, it's a date!? I was thinking of running part of it on deck 4 (is that the running deck?) and the rest on a treadmill. It'll be on Saturday morning.

That relay sounds like a lot of fun!!! What a rewarding race! Have you ever done a full? I did the WDW full this January. It was my first and my only marathon!! I got injured training (I hurt my ITBand after I did my first 20 mile run. Needed PT to finish!). Anyway, the half is definitely my favorite race. But, I also enjoy the 10K distance.

Wow, a full, I'm impressed. Never done a full & no desire to do one. Te half is a perfect distance I think. I'm sorry about ur IT band, that sucks apparently it's a common injury for runner bc a couple of my friends have hurt hose and one is actually having surgery in October for it. No matter what it is being hurt sucks! Yes I'm in for the morning running. So u r only running on sat, the day we get back?? Well we'll see u a dolphin swim & hopefully before that so our girls can meet & play since they r the same age. R u guys flying in early or just for cruise?

We are early eaters too b/c of the kids. We always joke that we eat with the senior citizens we eat so early ;)
