Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

OK. I think there are a number of special occasions going on during our cruise. I know that we have kbushe getting married on September 27th. Are there some wedding anniversaries; birthdays etc. If so I'd like to add them to the FE list so that people are aware of these just as a "just in case".

Sigrid

I don't know how "special" this is but it is our FIRST Disney cruise.

We are really excited.

How funny they are a week apart! Mine is FEb 7th!!! When are you booking yours in oceaneers? Not sure how you plan for that in advance unless you know what's happening the whole time on the ship.

Awesome!!! I see others already told you about just dropping your dd off in Oceaneers. My dd LOVED it!!! She was constantly asking to go back to her club. It'll be even more fun if she knows someone there!

Ok, I'm booking our dolphin swim in Cabo - r u doing it on the first or second day in cabo? I'll try to get in so our daughters can hang!

I think it was the second day. The 11 am one. I'm at my sister's house right now and her connection is REALLY slow or I'd go back and check it for you. I know I posted what day and time we were doing it on here somewhere. It's back a few pages.

I am now checking my DCL res for room assignment and available Palo Brunch many times a day.

Good luck!!! I hope you get it!

VERY special!!! You're just gonna LOVE it!!!!!

My husband went and discovered this site after I passed on your info. He went ahead and bought himself a "Pie Rate" t-shirt.

ARRRRRRRR!!! pirate: I be lookin' forward to seein' it on the cruise.

I received mine the other day. I like it but it's definitely a geek thing. And a DW embarrassment thing.

I come from a family that loves to embarrass so not a problem for me to have my DH wear it.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the boards but wanted to write & say thank you for all of the help you've all provided with suggestions for packing, excursions, etc. I just booked this cruise on Wednesday & it will be my first cruise ever! It's just my best friend and I traveling. I booked it as a reward for myself after I take the CA Bar Exam in less than two weeks. But now I'm totally distracted from my studies! I can't help it; there's so much to be excited about!

We aren't planning on booking any excursions, as we're both on a budget. All I really want to do is lay out on the beach and read some books that have nothing to do with the law.

I've made dinner reservations at Palo, but would also like to make brunch reservations. I know there aren't any brunch reservations available now, & I know that I can try to make one once we get on the Wonder. Is there a possibility that some will open up online before we sail? I don't want to keep checking the website if I don't have to.

Thanks again for all the tips everyone! :flower3:

Chances that some may open up online are pretty slim but not impossible I would say. I know that doesn't help much but even this close to the sailing date people still do canx / switch cruise plans and others will canx this cruise all together and change sailing dates..........

There is a program for the Oceaneers Club and Lab called Dine and Play. So if you have a youngster that just can't get enough of the kids clubs and wants to spend every moment either in the clubs or at the pool they will love this program.
Once you sit down at your table in the dining room for Dinner you will tell your server that you child will be doing Dine and Play, your server will take your childs order ASAP and make sure that their food comes out FAST.........about 30-45min later the kids club counclers will appear and they will hang out for anyone who wants to check their child in.......and then off they go............
Once you are done with dinner you can go pick them up or you can leave them there (which they will not mind at ALL) and go and enjoy the adult only entertainment that is offered in the walt Disney Theater.....and by adult only I mean some slightly PG-13 shows......NOTHING R rated afterall this is still Disney......

Oh that sounds so cool. Thanks!

So I was seeing a client down by the Port of Long Beach and I saw the Carnival Paradise was in port (3/4 day cruises). I went down to have a look.

It looked horrible. Small windows, barely any verandahs. It is about the same size as the Wonder and built a year earlier.

I am really amazing by the difference. You get what you pay for...

72 days left!!

Yup, my husband works down at the port & said the Paradise is god awful but Splendor is good. He went on Wonder earlier this year when it moved here & sent me pictures & said it was a nice ship but that the pools were much smaller than he thought they'd be.

The Splendor does look nice. However, the rooms look similar to the older ships which I find very lame.

Oh I don't know. We've only been on 1 cruise & it was almost 10 years ago. We'll see. I'm hoping the Wonder is NICE.

Thanks for the info on that too. I appreciate it as we may have to use it.

Welcome Christy. There are quite a few of us on a first cruise as well as a first Disney Cruise, myself included. I don't know if you're read through the entire feed or not, but would you like to join us on the FE or not. Don't worry if you say no, that is not a problem, and you don't need to make an immediate decision either as you have until August 27th before the list is closed.

Hey Christie. Should find out any & all info you are looking on these boards. These people are amazingly helpful. My 2nd cruise but first disney. Good luck with that reservation!

Where does your husband work? My husband works in and around the port for BNSF the rail and I work for American President Line as an office clerk for ILWU 63........
It sure is a small world.....:rotfl:

Wow it sure is a small world. While I'm not sure where or what all that is I'll ask DH. Sure he does as he is a US customs officer.

The only contact we've ever had with the Port in LA was it was where our belongings came in to when shipped from the UK when we moved here in August 2001. Unfortunately because September 11 happened 2 weeks after we arrived, instead of everything taking the approximate 6 weeks it took 3 months and then because we shared a shipping container with 7 other people and it was held up at customs.

Can't wait to see the ship in port though.

I'm hoping the Wonder is NICE.

She is nice. She's more than nice...

On our last cruise, we met another cruise ship at every port--it was one of those big white boxy ships. My little girls felt sad for the passengers on the other ship because theirs was not as pretty as ours. We were on the Magic. She is a pretty ship--and the Wonder is practically her twin. (Don't tell anyone but I think she's prettier than the Dream.) Anyway, when we tender in Cabo, take pictures...

Thank you Sigrid! I think we're going to pass on officially joining the FE party this time around, but I'll let you know if things change before the 27th. :)

Thanks Alicia! :)

Are any of you folks NOT coming from LAX or staying in a hotel near the Port? My BFF lives in LA so we're trying to figure out how to get there Sunday morning. There's parking but it's $12/day ($84+ = :sad1:), and a cab/exec car would be at least $70. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
