Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

My husband is a quiet and retiring. I just find as much info as I can and show it to him, convince him how much more his daughter will get out of the cruise by finding gifts outside her room every day and voila. As I said you have until August 27 so don't worry about it.

So glad you got the excurisions you wanted.

Yup, my husband very shy & more on the quiet side & then you have me & My daughter that are social butterflies! I totally explained the FE to him in the light that our daughter would absolutely love it & he was sold in an instant! Glad you got everything you wanted!

Please indulge me in my pity party for a moment.... I was unable to log onto the DCL website until after 10pm (I tried and I tried!!!) and when I was finally able to get in there were no Palo Brunch ressies (not super sad as I was torn about this... but sad nonetheless) and NO Cabo Beach Resort ressies left for the long Cabo day (SUPER sad). We booked the Cabo Pool Resort Getaway but I am not sure I want to do it. I booked it as a placeholder as I'd like to do something on that long Cabo day. I have only read one review about the Pool Getaway and it wasn't good. I have scoured the web and come up with not one other recent review (except one from 2005 but that is too old to trust).

Wahhhhhh!!!! :sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:

Okay... over my pity party. I am going on my first Disney Cruise! And Hawaii the week before! It truly isn't tragic but I am allowed my five minutes of disappointment. Thanks for indulging me.

You certainly are!

Oh yeah, sorry about that.

Hey I have seen pics of the cabin doors all decorated with decals or magnets?

Magnets this way they don't leave any debris on the doors and come off cleanly, plus you can use them over and over again. I've started pulling mine together. It's on my "to do" list for this week to start printing some off. There are a number of threads in the Just for fun section of the forums and then under creative. I'll try and find the link later but there is a great thread where someone will create your name using disney fills. She's wonderful.

That'd be awesome. Seriously I can't tell you how appreciative I am of all the help from you & everyone else on here.

Sorry, that must have been so frustrating!!!!

You can try when you board the ship. On our first cruise we had NOTHING booked in advance. My DH was able to book excursions and a Palo dinner for us once we were on board. Have a list ready of excursions/Palo days that will work for you so you can make a decision quickly when you have your chance. Check your Personal Navigator for the time/location for Palo reservations/changes. I think excursions can be done at the excursion desk.

FWIW, some cruisers change their Palo reservations when they learn their dining rotation. (My DH is hoping that we are not in Animator's Palate on the night of our Palo ressie since he does not want to miss the show.)

Here is the link to the thread where I got our name fills done:

and here is a link I've used to try to sort out my mickey ears etc for around the door:

As I said there are huge amounts of information and help on the boards. I'm probably spending too much time on them but it is so much fun finding out all the information I didn't know I needed!

Thank you SOOO much for all the info & understanding. I feel like I"m asking too many questions!! One more, on formal & semi formal nights do kid's dine with you? What do you dress kids in on those nights if they do? We are rediculously casual people so those nights make me nervous b/c we don't have fancy clothes ;)

It is really a personal choice on how dressed up or underdressed you decide to be. I will tell you the majority of people do dress up at least a little, there will be a few that look like they are off to prom but they will be the minority as most of the people look like they are going to a nice holiday party or wedding reception.
If you wanna go for more of the casual formal look I would say follow the below.
Men - Slacks, button up shirt and tie
Formal night - I would stick with a darker slack and maybe a black button up to give the appearance that he is more dressed up then really he is.
Semi - Formal - I would go with a lighter slack (cream / baige) color, and a light color button up shirt.
Women - Dress or skirt
Formal night - I would again go with a darker dress color, black, brown
Semi - Formal - Maybe a lighter color dress like maybe one you would wear to church or on a special holiday......skirts are fine also
For kids - pretty much the same as the mommies and daddys.......dresses and slacks and tie

However if you chose NOT to dress up at all it's NOT like they won't serve you or allow you to dine in the dining rooms but I can tell you that you may feel a bit out of place because the majority of people do dress up at least a little........

Palo dress code if you booked is the same as semi formal night
Dress Code (according to Disney Cruise web) I copied and pasted.....
At Palo, dress pants and shirt or jacket is required for men and a dress or pantsuit is required for women. Please no jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes.

There is still hope. You can book Palo reservations onboard the ship. You will have to do it the first day you board the ship to have the best odds but it is possible. Palo holds a percentage of their reservations for onboard booking. So that first day you board head over the Wavebands, that is where you can request a Palo booking that you were unable to get online.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Hmm I guess the 75-day theory didn't come true...
Just checked and I still have a "GTY" room. It's silly that I keep checking, but I can't wait to find out what room we're gonna be in!!!!!

Much, much thanks! I'll go shopping :thumbsup2

This board is much more active now that we're closer!! I love it! I went out of town for a couple days and had pages to catch up on!!!

Ack! How awful! Glad to hear they are doing better though! I feel like it has been a bad year for illnesses. At least locally (and in my home) there has been too many nasty bugs. Fingers crossed we get it all out of our system in the next couple months!

Yes! I keep saying that - they are getting it out of their systems and will be well for the cruise. Each day gets a little bit better. Will has been coughing for 5 weeks now. Meg has been coughing for a month.

Forgot to mention my daughter is 4 so would love to meet your 5 year old. She has no idea about the trip though. My husband and I decided it was safer that way and would save our sanity!

Can my dd and I get in on the 4 and 5 yo dd meet?

We are excited to be going on our first Disney Cruise!

(me,dh, dd(3)

Hello!!!!

When I'm allowed to book excursions (tonight!!!) I'm taking my 5 year old to do the dolphin swim too. :)

Did you get the same one we got? I hope so!!! My dd will do much better if there's another child her age.

Alicia
Matt
Megan (5 1/2)
Lauren (23 months)

My dd is Meg!! When is your Megan's birthday? Mine is Jan. 28.

Ok, so there were no Palo brunches or tea... which is LAME.

I was able to get Palo dinner, because we are a party of 2 (it was only open for parties of 1-2).

Does anyone know how many ressies they hold on the ship?

We really want to do at least one brunch...

Also, no room assignment yet for my GTY... still checking everyday though.

How funny they are a week apart! Mine is FEb 7th!!! When are you booking yours in oceaneers? Not sure how you plan for that in advance unless you know what's happening the whole time on the ship.

Hi all!!! I've been MIA from this board for a while. Three of my kids are recovering from probable whooping cough (yes, they've been vaccinated!). My life has been all about them lately and I couldn't even think about the cruise!

BUT!!! They're recovering. Still coughing, but recovering. At least it's not scary anymore.

I spent the morning booking our excursions! In Cabo on our second day (the 30th?), my older boys and dh are going on the Canopy Adventure from 7:45 − 1:15. I think my 13 yo will chicken out when he gets there, but he's insisting he won't! Anyone else doing this one?

My two other kids and I are on the Dolphin Swim at 10:45 − 12:45. I had wanted to book on our own, but it just seemed too risky. So, we booked with Disney. Anyone else?

In Puerto Vallarta, we're doing something on our own. Either the Crown Paradise Club Hotel or Las Animes Adventure Park. Anyone done either of these things? I'm nervous about Las Animes because it's a 6 hour excursion! At the Crown Paradise, we can leave when we want and get back to the ship in plenty of time. I'm torn because my 10 wants the zip-lines!

I think our second day in Cabo will be walking around and shopping.

I'll go back and catch up on everything I've missed!!!!

Ok, I'm booking our dolphin swim in Cabo - r u doing it on the first or second day in cabo? I'll try to get in so our daughters can hang!

I registered Kirsten for Oceaneers last night, but I don't think you have to book having done some reading as long as they are registered I believe you just turn up with them should you so wish. Again, if I'm wrong, I would love some information.

Flounders is the ONLY kids club that needs reservation times booked in advance although they do leave times open for onboard booking. For Oceaneers Club and the Oceaneers Lab it is drop off and pick up as you please, no reservations needed or taken, only thing needed is an adult to check the kids in and out. You just need to make sure you register them online, it is all part of your online booking and check in process.

The other kids clubs for the older kids like the Edge (11-13) and the Vibe (14-17) kids are free to go and come as they please, no parent check in or out required.

Ok yeah, I registered both of mine last night too. I did reserve it for my will be 23 mo. old on 2 of the days for 1-2 hours but didn't for Megan yet. I was thinking we should be able to just show up but again, never done this so wasn't sure. I'll let you know if I hear anything different. Thanks!

Oh ok, great thanks! Is that because you pay for the little one's in flounders & all others are "free"?

You do pay for Flounders and all other kids clubs are free. With babies I am told they need reservations to make sure they have a good councler to babie ratio........Need to make sure they have enough eyes and arms for the little ones who require a bit more attention.

Just a FYI for anyone who has a child who is almost age 3, as long as he / she is potty trained I think Disney will allow these kids to visit the Oceaneers Club and Lab as long as a parent is present..........I have seen quite a few little ones in the past, the parents like to take them to show them what is waiting for them on the next cruise........:cutie:
