Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

Hello DVC_Corrys,

We don't have a room assignment yet, either. DCL told me that we may find out after the July 12 final payment date. They will know for sure who is dropping out of this cruise then.

By the way, we are from OC too--Trabuco Canyon. Am constantly in Irvine due to my daughters' activities, though :goodvibes

Karen

We will have to have a South County Party on the ship!!!

Only 81 days!!

Ok, can someone explain the FE?? I am sure my family would love to participate.

I hope I am not asking a dumb question.

OK so I thought I'd just bring you all up-to-date on where the FE list currently stands. I know I'm not closing the books (so to speak) until August 27th but thought those of you trying to get a head start would like to know where we were.

We currently have 12 cabins confirmed as participating. These are:

yukongirl123 = dmom, dson
super*mom = dmom, dson (10)
mamacrumbcake = dw, dh, dd (13), dd (11)
kbushue = dw & dh (well you will be as you're on your weddingmoon)
johngar = dw, dh
rjlechner = dw, dh
jennifer_in_mi = dw, dh, ds (15), ds (13), ds (11), and dd (5)
swx72 (that's me) = dw, dh, dd (4)
kawigirl = Tracy, dmom & dd
Aussiefan = dw, dh, dd (14), & dd (11)
soccrmom = dw, dh, ds (14) & ds (11)
wideeyedwonder = dh, dw, dd (13), dd (9) & dd (9)

I am still waiting on confirmation from:

dvc_corry's
mikmouse
luvbnmom
princessbelle39

as to whether you are participating in the FE or not.

From reading through other feeds I realise that if we get too much bigger some of you may prefer to then split into 2 groups. I'll keep you up-to-date on any changes.

If I've got any information wrong please let me know.

Thanks I had better go and keep my 4 year old active as she's annoyed that she can't go out in the pool due to the back yard being covered in dirt from last night's dust storm.

Thank you for doing this!!!! Did you ever hear back from your PM to WideEyedWonder? I am wondering if they dropped out of the cruise altogether... they were pretty active at the beginning.

My only other request would be to get children's ages for the FE. I am doing different gifts for different ages and want to make sure a little one doesn't end up with something to old (can't read) or a big one doesn't end up with a baby toy.

Thank you again!!

Ok, so I did research on the Dis and we are in for the FE.

Our group is:

DVC_Corrys Ddad Dmom DS (6 months at cruise time)

Do we have any rules to follow?? Or just one gift per person, per stateroom?

kbushue: Curiosity is getting the better of me... I see your avatar is a photo of you on the news but the writing is too small to read. Do you mind sharing the story? (You aren't in an orange jumpsuit so I assume it is something fun!)

I'm so glad you asked! I had been wondering too! What a great story!!! :lovestruc

It seems like just yesterday we were at 100 days and tomorrow we're at 80! Awesome!!!

So what's everyone doing on our very short day in Cabo? I keep reading that it's very easy to just go hang at the beach, but I've also read that you have to take a water taxi. (?) Most of the posts I've read say it's super easy to take a water taxi, but then I keep reading stuff about untrustworthy people/vendors at the pier and I'm wondering is it really that easy???? There just seems to be a lot of conflicting info out there. I'm confused!

We cruised to Cabo a few years back but we just went on our planned snorkeling cruise and walked a bit around the pier area. We didn't venture out at all. If anyone has any advice, I'm all ears! I'd really just like to chill at the beach that day and not spend a whole lot of money...

We were in Cabo in January last with Disney Cruise when we brought the ship over from Florida through the Panama Canal and I can tell you that your transportation options are plentiful right there from the dock where the tender drops u. Right where the tender drops u there are restaurants, and shopping, the main shopping area is a short walk and an even shorter taxi ride, and from what I heard Medano beach is a short ride away.
When we were in Cabo we chose to do the resort beach getaway it was nice and on the ride back they offered to drop anyone who wanted off in the main shopping area of town.

A huge part of me wants to eat at The Office (heard amazing things) and use their lounge chairs at the beach for the rest of the day. The other part of me is terrified being a single mom/single child venturing out alone. This hasn't bothered me with other vacations in the past (and we go to all kinds of crazy places) but I have been reading too much latley... and everyone I talk to has a horror story! I think at this point I am going to feel out the water taxi situation at the pier and if I can split the ride with another family (big numbers I think will quell my fears) I will head to The Office. If I don't feel comfortable when I get there, I will just walk around with the hoards of other cruisers by the port and eat somewhere nearby then head back to the ship.

Hi all!!! I've been MIA from this board for a while. Three of my kids are recovering from probable whooping cough (yes, they've been vaccinated!). My life has been all about them lately and I couldn't even think about the cruise!

BUT!!! They're recovering. Still coughing, but recovering. At least it's not scary anymore.

I spent the morning booking our excursions! In Cabo on our second day (the 30th?), my older boys and dh are going on the Canopy Adventure from 7:45 − 1:15. I think my 13 yo will chicken out when he gets there, but he's insisting he won't! Anyone else doing this one?

My two other kids and I are on the Dolphin Swim at 10:45 − 12:45. I had wanted to book on our own, but it just seemed too risky. So, we booked with Disney. Anyone else?

In Puerto Vallarta, we're doing something on our own. Either the Crown Paradise Club Hotel or Las Animes Adventure Park. Anyone done either of these things? I'm nervous about Las Animes because it's a 6 hour excursion! At the Crown Paradise, we can leave when we want and get back to the ship in plenty of time. I'm torn because my 10 wants the zip-lines!

I think our second day in Cabo will be walking around and shopping.

I'll go back and catch up on everything I've missed!!!!

Super*mum as you will see I have listed the ages of the children next to them except for one which I don't have the info as yet. Nope didn't hear back to my PM to Wideeyedwonder so thinking very much the same as you. I will update my list behind as DVC_Corry's have also now confirmed that they will be participating and they have a son who will be 6 months at time of cruise. If I miss anything let me know as I said this is my first cruise, first disney cruise and very definitely first FE so need all the help I can get.

Thanks for the info. I've added you to the list. The list is going to be closed on August 27th giving basically 4 weeks for people to sort things out for their FE exchange. I'm going to try and keep you updated as we go along though so you can see people joining etc. To the best of my knowledge there are no rules about gifts. Totally up to you how you want to do it. I've searched through the forums and there appears to be a whole mixture as to whether each person gets something which may be split down by age group or whether you do just one gift for the stateroom.

If anyone else has any input please help!

My wife, Lisa, and I will be visiting Disneyland for the first time the weekend prior to this cruise and then heading to the port of LA for this cruise. We booked this cruise on our last cruise- we have been waiting too long!! At least we are in the 90 day window now!! We hope to meet some fellow DCL enthusiast on this cruise. :yay:

I hope everyone is better soon. What a bummer to be sick in the summer!:sick:

I noticed from your sig line that you are homeschooling--so are we! We love traveling in the "off-peak" season. It sure is hard to plan lessons when there is a cruise on the horizon, though.

Nope didn't hear back to my PM to Wideeyedwonder so thinking very much the same as you.

Still holding out hope that they're coming. Though he hasn't posted on Disboards since March, his siggy contains a ticker for the cruise and a visit to DL immediately after. Hopefully they're just in "regular life" mode and will be on the boards again as we get closer to cruising. Their oldest dd is the same age as mine so we were looking forward to meeting them--shortage of 13 year old girls on cruise!

Ack! Glad to hear everyone's getting better. That must have been awful! At least this didn't happen near cruise time, right?! That's always my worst fear... that one of us will get really sick right before the cruise. I've been sick on a cruise and it's really no fun!! Especially after all these months of anticipation!

Hey we're under 80 days today!! I can't wait to find out what room we get assigned!!

Rumor has it our cruise is sold out! How exciting is that!!! A completely full boat of Disney geeks to cruise with! :banana:

Is this true? I went to the website to check the prices again and it looked like there were quite a few rooms still available.

Sure Super*Mum!

I moved to LA in 2009, and met my DF. After dating for a little over a year, he proposed to me in the piazza between DL and DCA. We are getting eloping on the MR cruise in September. I had always loved a dress I saw years ago in a Bridal magazine, and I found a sample of the exact dress on eBay and bought it for $100. But then we decided to elope on the cruise line, and my dream dress no longer fit the destination. And since my Mother and Sister still live back home in IL, I was at a loss of what to choose.

I am an loyal KTLA viewer every morning before work, and always watched their Stranger Change Her makeovers on Fridays. So, when they announced they wanted to do Bridal makeovers, I figured it couldn't hurt to apply. They asked for brides that had already purchased a dress, but had changed their minds about it. It was totally for me! So I filled out the application, and 3 hours after I emailed it in, I got a call from the show's host, Crystal. She asked me to email her a couple pictures, so I did, and then she called back and said we were on for taping that Friday (This was Tuesday.)

I couldn't believe it! I had never won anything like that before! So I met everyone at The Grove, where I had to wear my old dress in the square in front of Nordstrom. I listened to my iPod as the hostess Crystal and the show's producer hit passersby up for makeover ideas and to fill out a survey on changes they suggest. After roasting in the sun for an hour in a super hot beaded tulle gown, we took a lunch break and met up again at local designer Joanna August's house in Beverly Hills. She has her studio set up in her guest house. I tried on lots of very airy and informal gowns, and they picked one they wanted me to wear for the show reveal on KTLA. Then, I treated to a hair appt. and makeup at Gavert Atelier in Beverly Hills. They were fantastic and ended the day perfectly! We have to have the Live Reveal on KTLA the following Friday morning.

If you would like to see the video from KTLA, you can view it here:

If I wanted the dress on the show, I had to purchase it because it was a brand new designer dress, and I couldn't afford the 3K tag, so Joanna the designer gave me the dress I picked from her collection from last season. Here it is!

That is SOOOOO cool! I can't wait to see you! When are you getting married on the cruise?

Hello! We'll be visiting DL before our cruise too!

I hope everyone is better soon. What a bummer to be sick in the summer!:sick:

I noticed from your sig line that you are homeschooling--so are we! We love traveling in the "off-peak" season. It sure is hard to plan lessons when there is a cruise on the horizon, though.

Thanks. This illness has been horrible. I always tell people that part of the reason we homeschool is because we can get great rates when we travel! And, I agree - the lessons are hard to plan right now! I was hoping to start in August, but I'm not sure we'll be ready! Are you homeschooling all the way through? My oldest is in 10th grade and has always been homeschooled. He's now taking classes at our local community college too.

Ack! Glad to hear everyone's getting better. That must have been awful! At least this didn't happen near cruise time, right?! Hey we're under 80 days today!! I can't wait to find out what room we get assigned!!

Tell me about it!!! We'd have had to cancel. They were just too sick. But, you are right! At least it happened now. My sis and her dh were sick on our last cruise with them. It was horrible! Luckily it was just the last two days though. And, then to top it off, their then-2 yo had a seizure that last morning of the cruise.

I cannot wait!!!!

We've hit the 70's!!! 79 Days and 16 hours to go!!!

Jennifer in MI :

We are getting married onboard on the 27th as far as I know. I'm guessing at 5pm. I haven't gotten the final details yet, but they should be coming soon. Of course, they claim that weather or other things could alter the date, but I'll post as soon as I know! Anyone who wants to come and celebrate with us is more than welcome! It's just the two of us eloping, so any Disney fans... bring your Mickey ears and Magic! :banana:
