Sept 25, 2011 Wonder - Mexican Riviera

Omg, our girls should totally meet up. Mine is 5 1/2 going on 10!! She hangs out with her 11 year old cousins all the time. She loves the "big kids"!!

I think that would be really fun for the kids to do. We are right down the street so anytime........ although if we dont get together prior to cruise it is almost certain they will cross paths on the ship. It's so funny how small a world the cruise really makes you feel like you live in. When we did the Panama Canal cruise we crossed paths with many so cal families.:cheer2:

Ok, sort of get it. What are examples of "gifts". When do you do it? I tried to search these boards for FE but couldn't find specific info. Will google too. Thanks.

OK the way I understand it (as I said I'm a newbie too) is gifts are totally up to you. Here is a wonderful blog I found:

http://blog.suchthespot.com/2011/01/disney-cruise-how-to-fish-extender/

Gifts you can choose to do 1 per cabin, 1 per person, vary them dependent on age group etc. You can do bags, hand soaps etc. Here is another blog wish fish extender gift ideas:

http://disneycm.blogspot.com/2010/04/fish-extender-gifts.html

I'm trying to decide what to do with something different and something that won't break the bank but am still to get inspired on that perfect something, something.

As for when I believe some people just go through the cabins 1 floor a day, others do them all at once. I think that part of it is also entirely up to you, but I'm sure if I've got it wrong one someone can help me out.

As for fish extenders here is someone who sells them on Etsy:

http://www.etsy.com/listing/73790535/standard-custom-3-pocket-fish-extender?ref=sr_list_15&ga_search_submit=&ga_search_query=fish+extender&ga_search_type=handmade&ga_facet=handmade

I think there are 2 other sellers on Etsy at the moment too. One is StitchesNBows and the other is ilvdisney2008. Most of them will customise the number of pockets based on the number of people in your group.

Hope this helps a little.

Thank you. Since my last comment I have been searching the internet & looking at pics & ideas. I want to do it but am waiting on approval from DH. Will let you know ASAP. THANK YOU!!!

As long as you've closed before the cruise (shouldn't be an issue if ROFR goes along smoothly) you should get every perk that any DVC member on board that sailing will get. What you will not be able to do is book a cruise with your DVC points (if you purchased resale after 3/20, and it appears you did). IF it comes close to time just head up to Deck 4 and the DVC kiosk and let them know you're members; you should be taken care of just fine!

(LOVE our DVC and love our DCL times!!!!)

Michael

I just noticed your pics in your signature & we bought at saratoga springs!

By any chance can you tell me what these "meets" are people are talking about?

I'm an etsy addict. Have sorted out both my daughter's and my husband's pirates costumes on etsy. Have also bought the FE and even an "I Spy" bag to keep my daughter amused on our drive to LA from Phoenix. I have already worked out my costume to be bought off etsy, but holding off as my Dr currently has me on strict diet and meds to try and help me lose weight as have issues with Thyroid and so far have lost 7.5lbs in 3 weeks so am waiting until end July. Plus also added loads of etsy stuff to my favourites ready for Christmas gifts. As all our family is in Europe (England and Norways) I have to have mailed everything by middle November!

Pirate night is going to be the Day 5 when we are in Cabo. That night for dinner you have the option of dressing up in your best Pirate attire. You can go all out decked from head to toe like Jack Sparrow or you can chose not to dress at all, no matter what you decide you will not feel out of place as people chose to both ALL out and NOTHING at all and everything in between. That night following dinner there will be a deck party that will include music, dancing and tons of surprise character appearances, all of which will be followed by a firework show. The only of its kind since Disney is the only cruise ship that has the authorization to do fireworks at sea.

Palo is the adults only restraunt on board the ship they offer Dinner, Brunch and High Tea. It is an extra cost but for the experience and the food quality it is well worth it.

http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/wonder/dining/palo/

Dinner: $20 dining charge, per person
Brunch: $20 dining charge, per person
High Tea: $10 dining charge, per person

Brunch and High Tea are only available on at sea days and Dinner is available on all nights. Reservations fill up fast so I would suggest booking anything that is available just so you can at least try it once.....you can always canx later or once you are onboard the ship if you decide to do so. I would also suggest that you book Dinner on a night that is NOT formal night or semi formal night just so you can sit and have dinner as a whole family on these nights.

In case you did not read the previous post about what nights is what here it is again.......AGAIN I hope this all helps.....I remember what it was like to be a newbie....

Formal - Day 2
Pirate - Day 5
Semi Formal - Day 6

Alright, we're in! What do you need &/or what do I need to do for ya?

All I need is your group breakdown, which, if I remember correctly is:

You
DH
DD 5
DD 23 mnths

If you are willing to provide names it could be helpful, and then last, but not least, your cabin number.

Thank you SOOO much for all the info & understanding. I feel like I"m asking too many questions!! One more, on formal & semi formal nights do kid's dine with you? What do you dress kids in on those nights if they do? We are rediculously casual people so those nights make me nervous b/c we don't have fancy clothes ;)

Please indulge me in my pity party for a moment.... I was unable to log onto the DCL website until after 10pm (I tried and I tried!!!) and when I was finally able to get in there were no Palo Brunch ressies (not super sad as I was torn about this... but sad nonetheless) and NO Cabo Beach Resort ressies left for the long Cabo day (SUPER sad). We booked the Cabo Pool Resort Getaway but I am not sure I want to do it. I booked it as a placeholder as I'd like to do something on that long Cabo day. I have only read one review about the Pool Getaway and it wasn't good. I have scoured the web and come up with not one other recent review (except one from 2005 but that is too old to trust).

Wahhhhhh!!!! :sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad::sad:

Okay... over my pity party. I am going on my first Disney Cruise! And Hawaii the week before! It truly isn't tragic but I am allowed my five minutes of disappointment. Thanks for indulging me.

:thumbsup2

Welcome AutumnsMom08! :welcome:

Tonight's the big night for first-timers to start booking excursions and making Palo ressies. Well theoretically tomorrow, but DCL starts taking reservations around midnight east coast time. Not sure what the exact start time is--someone who knows, chime in. (My TA told me 9:30 PM Pacific time but that seems strange.) Also, I was told that if you're logged into DCL before the window opens, you will have to log out and log back in.

:tink: Good luck to everyone who is making ressies tonight/tomorrow. I hope you get everything you wish for.

Thanks for your wishes. Based on what your TA had said I logged straight on at 9pm our time (we live in AZ) and booked everything we wanted. I had been up since 3.50am so was in dire need to go to bed, but so glad I just went on and got it done. We have both the city tours that we wanted and I certainly don't want to show off, but managed to get reservations at Palo too.

Thanks for all the nice hellos!

I am excited that we got both the excusions that we wanted, the pirate adventure and the dolphin adventure. It was driving me crazy that it said 3 and up on the description then when I tried to book it it said 4 and up. I ended up calling and a supervisor had to enter the order....at least we got them....Has anyone done either of this excursions?

I am still thinking about the FE, as my husband is a very private person and not outgoing (unlike my dd and I).. All I will have to do is have my daughter convince him...what ever she wants she gets....

My husband is a quiet and retiring. I just find as much info as I can and show it to him, convince him how much more his daughter will get out of the cruise by finding gifts outside her room every day and voila. As I said you have until August 27 so don't worry about it.

So glad you got the excurisions you wanted.
