Thanks smilingmouse. I read the e-mail too. But I have a somewhat of a "mistrust" problem with huge companies. Of course they are going to say nothing will be affected because they don't want everyone suddenly cancelling their flights. However, I will try not to worry (yeah, right). :rotfl:

Ingrid--no problem. I've been flying NWA for years, and I have only had 1 prob. with any of my flights--it was a fright from France to MN on New Years Eve. Other than that, no probs for me :)

Hmmmm... Gee... wonder which night they're gonna show PotC? pirate: :rotfl:

Our last Disney Cruise was when they premiered Brother Bear. That was a great experience with the 'red carpet treatment' everybody got from the CMs!

Good morning everyone! I caught up on yesterday's posts last night, but I was too tired to post. Just before I fell asleep, I was telling DH about the "new" DCL dry dock stuff(thanks to MKUsmile). He said that sounds really cool, maybe we'll have to book another trip! You know, I was thinking, it's kinda sad, I feel like you all are such a neat group of friends, but DH doesn't know any of you.(except for Bill's weather report) Of course, he doesn't post on the boards, and I kinda fell like this is my territory, if he starts reading, I can't talk about him! :rotfl: So I thought maybe, I will print out all our posts, and read them to him as we drive to the cruise.(What a novel) Of course I would skip all the parts where I wrote anything about him that wasn't glowing! ;) What do you think?

bpicard- you are going to have to beat the girls off that boy when he gets a little older. He is so handsome!

Marsha- at least there won't be flies, heat, and ants to contend with at your "cookout".

Okay everyone, guess how much money I saved DH yesterday? :rotfl: I went shopping for jewelry for the cruise. We have a Claire's outlet in Foley. They had a 10 for $5 sale. Oh my, I had a sackload of jewels when I walked out of there! Lots of stuff for the girls, necklaces, hairbows, picture frames! I had a great time!

Well, I need to get the little one dressed for preschool. She says she's not going.....but I have a hair appointment today, so she IS going! :rotfl2: She still cries every Tues. and Thurs. when I take her. But she quits within seconds of me walking out her classroom door. But I'm still feeling the guilt. After the hair appt. I going to sit with Briley while she eats her lunch, I refuse to eat that nasty school food, and then off to work the uniform distribution at the church building until time to pick the girls up from school. So far we have helped with uniforms for 127 families displaced by the hurricane.

gilesfamily- so glad the Chantels teacher is not giving you a hard time. I was just about to post the mouseforless journal link to you when I saw that you found it. Briley did 5 pages of language last night, tonight we will work on her makeup spelling assignments. Trying to get it all knocked out before we leave. Hope the wedding plans are going smoothly, and that your ear is feeling better!

Check in later!
Erin -

I know what you mean about your husband being out of the loop. I tell him things about you all, but it's hard to tell everything since so many posts have been made and there has been so much information. If you print out the whole thread it will take about a gillion pages of paper! :goodvibes

I wish we had a Claire's outlet here! What a great deal!

Have a fun lunch with your daughter!

Ingrid: We have already been through this when United declared bankrupcy several years ago. We did not notice problem with flights.

Hi Everyone,
Sorry Didi I'm WAY behind this morning I know. Started off my day with a revenue capture meeting......double UUUUGGGGGGG. Nothing like a headache first thing in the morning.

i am hoping to get the suitcases out and pack some this weekend but by DD's are still wearing summer clothes to school so I know I will be franticly doing laundry Wed night and Thursday then packing the last minute stuff.

Got my hair cut this am....YEAh :cool1: Highlighted this weekend....YEAH
Pedicures next Wednesday...YEAH!!!!!!

I CAN"T WAIT.....after this week (and its not friday yet) I REALLY need a vacation.

Back to work

The cookout/Cookin went well and good thing it was in its raining cats&Dogs might rain until Sunday, I can't wait for VACATION :sunny: :sunny:

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED. There were still a few shirts left and I found an XS (4/5) for Lora and a Small (6/7) for Bailey. We'll have to get a picture of our "Hijas Bonitas" with their shirts on.

OK, cross that one off the list...

Off to help DS finish his first project of the year and then get ready for Back to School night.

Ohh your little one are going to be sooo cute :goodvibes

I miss dressing DD's up in adorable little clothes. They've moved on to their own version of "fashion".

Deanna: I'm sure between the shoe shopping, Dinner's, stingray city, paradise beach etc.......we all will be seeing LOTS of each other. :cheer2: :grouphug:

Howdy everyone!

David- thanks for posting movies. I'm really wanting to see "Herbie Fully Loaded". As the movie "Herbie Goes Bananas" from the 70s was the first movie in a theater that I ever saw! I don't know how old I was ( or maybe I just don't wanna say!)

Jamie- Awesome info about stingray at CC. If we get along well with it on Grand Cayman, we just may have to try it again. How do you think we'll do at GC, Julie? Will the kids all be in the water by themselves loving it, and you are I squeemishly crying on the boat and refusing to put our toes in the water?! :scared1: :scared1:

Are we really going shoe shopping together?! Or is this a joke? :confused3

kcatoir- Your hair looks marvelous! :earsgirl:

Uncle Servo- Have fun with the door magnets! I've made several and I'm addicted to them!
Smilingmouse and poweralaska- If you are meeting at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, then maybe you should have DHMcEntee do a weather report for you before you go. :cool1: :sunny:

Who is going to do the "Live from the Magic" thread when we get onboard?! This sounds like a job for who?! We can't pick Ingrid because she will still be on the deck recovering! :earboy2: Or maybe she won't be there at all if her airline doesn't make it. Another thing to worry about, Ingrid! :teeth:

Marsha- what day are you leaving? We need to make our official meet plan for Friday! Did we decide 4 p.m. by the pool?

Got to boogie! Deanna

Cujobugs - Friday would be great by the pool, I sent you a PM with the cell # just incase the plane is delayed or the wealther is bad.

NO HURRICANE DANCE

I've finished the main sign (after Season 'strongly suggested' changes to my original concept), and will probably start on several small ones to go with it. It could be that I'm starting to get addicted to them too!

Thank you so much! :grouphug: Let me know how much they were. I can send you the $ now or wait until I see you, it's up to you! I really appreciate it.

Deanna - I wasn't joking about shoe shopping. I am there. It's my big focal point of key west. That and some choc. covered key lime pie on a stick. :sunny: I don't know what time we get to Key West or what time the Sandal Shop opens, but I really, really want to pick up a couple pairs for me and some for my mom and sister and sis-in-law. Dude, I am THERE! :hyper:

Julie and shoe shoppers- I decided to find a trip report on the net about Kino Sandal factory. The following is the report I pasted. I can just see this happening to us!
Except the lady that would be making all the fuss would be Julie. Screaming Julie!!!!!!!!!!! Read the following:

Nov 18 - "There's no better way to look like a local than to pick yourself up a pair of Kino's Sandals," says Jeff. They're comfy and they're cheap. Why would you spend a bundle on sandals when you can get a cheap pair and spend the rest at Captain Tony's, right?

They sounded perfect for me. Especially since my old Payless sandals had disintegrated on my last snorkeling trip and I was now walking along with the sole of my sandal attached by a mere inch of rubber at the toe. Never a sorrier sandal did you ever see.

So this morning Kev and I drove into Key West (a mere 45 miles away from our campsite) with the sole purpose of leaving a few pairs richer. Well, the Jimmy Buffett gods must have been giggling today, because we little did we know that we'd really be leaving with a full sense of what it means to live in the islands.

These are always funny.
We started over to the Kino's Store, nay Kino's Factory, which was wedged between a We Buy Gold jewelry store and a T-Shirt shop with a special on Fart Shirts. The store was closed. I'm sure you saw this coming, since if it was open, we'd be writing about something else today, like all the fish we caught. Instead, the store was closed. This created a bad situation for us because this is our last trip into Key West. After this, it's north, north, north for us.

But, being Canadian, we have an undeterred sense of optimism. The Kino's factory isn't closed for the day... it's just not open yet! That's it! Let's go fart around (pardon the pun) and come back around noon. Maybe it'll be open then.

Noon rolls around. Still not open. What would you do in our situation? Ask the locals! We ask the fart-store owner. He says the store's just not open today. He seemed a bit shifty (he does own a fart-shirt store, after all) so we went to the tourist info booth. The lady there assured us that they were, in fact, open on Sundays. She called around, but (wow!) no one answered at the store.

We head back to the store. By this time, some lady has strolled in from her cruise and proceeds to scream about the fact that the store is not open (not a violent tirade of screaming at someone, really more of an "EEEEEE" type of scream). She's one of those women that think if they state the obvious enough times, perhaps she will wake up from her hellish existance.

Sloppy Joe's:
It was here in Key West in 1933 that the famous Sloppy Joe was created, a favourite munchie of Ernest Hemingway. We sampled one at Sloppy Joe's Diner and it was mmmm... mmmm... good. A man's size sandwich alright.
"No."
"This is not happening."
"N-O."
"No way."
"I WILL find a pair of these shoes before I leave here."
"They CAN NOT be closed."
"Not a chance."
"NO."

And, despite her cries, the doors do not fling open at her will. Maybe she should have tried stamping her feet.

However, we next inquire at the jewelry shop next to the Factory, somehow thinking that the purveyor of fine gold will be more intelligent than one of fart-shirts. Wrong. This one tells us that the Factory has been closed for six months. WHAT? Shouldn't the lady at the info booth have known this? Does the purveyor of gold know of anywhere else in town we could get a pair? He directs us to a store about 15 blocks away. Well, we're in, so we might as well go all the way in. We make the trek and ask a barmaid along the way if she agrees with the rumour that the Kino's Factory is closed for good.

"What? I saw someone walking by here on Friday with a Kino's bag. They're definitely not closed. You should really get yourself a pair. They're great."

Sigh. The store we've been sent these blistering 15 blocks to find is the Birkenstock store. What the heck do I want with $75 Birkenstocks when I can have $8 Kino's? We boldly ask the Birkinstock owner about picking up a pair of Kino's. Mr. Birk, who's business probably depends solely on the ignorance of tourists, gives us directions through clenched teeth. It's over in the old town area, between a jewelry store and a T-shirt store.

It's now about 3pm. It's taken us nearly four hours to find out if a store is going to open. Could all of this have been solved with a simple sign on the door of the store? Yes. If the store had a door. And if this wasn't island life. But you know what they say: Living in the islands is always an adventure.

That's all. I just thought this was a funny report. This sounds like a horrible thing to happen to our group, since we are all OCD planners!
Deanna

Well, I only got half accomplished that I wanted to..but the day isn’t over yet! Once I get Channi fed, and supper dishes done, and sit down with her for homework, and take her to register for Girl Guides, come home and give her a bath, and read her a story, and get her to bed…I’ll have some more time.

This morning, I’m sitting in my car in front of the nail salon talking to my DD bride on my cell. End up talking to her a little longer than expected…so in a hurry, I jump out of the car..slam the door…with the keys INSIDE. This isn’t the first time I’ve done this. DH had put a magnetic box with an extra set of keys under my bumper. So..here I am..underneath the car..looking for the magnetic box. And I can’t find it!! My nail lady was kind enough to provide me with a flashlight and finally after lying under the car for about 3 minutes, I found it. People were slowing down in their cars, thinking I was dead or something. It’s rather funny now that I think of it. It was’nt then though.

And then I get home and ask DH every so nicely if he could start packing for the trip, and he tells me “what?? We still have a week!” WHATSA MATTA WITH THAT GUY??

Although I do have to give him credit for looking after me, by putting that extra set of keys outside my car.
