Happy belated Julie! So..did you ask for a laptop or was it a complete surprise?
We bought one in the summer. Well, actually it was a deal with my employer. The laptop is going to be used STRICTLY for business. (yeah right..strictly for business ) However, if I break it, I buy it. Actually, I do buy it..eventually, but it's an interest-free loan over a LONG period of time, and they deduct a few dollars a month off my paycheque. Very painless that way.

So we went to the bank today to get some American currency. DD takes a look at the money and says "boy..does it ever look weird". And this comment is coming from Canadians who have loonies, and toonies and rainbow-coloured money!

The computer was a total surprise! I had no idea. We have a home business so I will also use it for that.

I got the new and improved Capt Mickey booklet! I got to read all about Erin's daughters! They are adorable!

Geesh, Am I the only person that feels a tad bit guilty over getting excited for the cruise with all that's going on in LA & MS?

I hope the airlines have enough gas stockpiled. I saw a news story that airports in the S/SE could be in trouble if they don't get the pipeline going, at least partly, within a week.

Laptop? Did somebody say Laptop? What kind? How fast? RAM? CV/DVD? How bigs the screen? What size hard drive? Wireless?

Gotta go fire up the grill...

I've just been reading some of the posts on the Sept. 3 cruise meets. They are packing up, and heading out the door! Just think...we'll be doing the same in 3 weeks. whoohoo.

I just found out that DH will be going off nightshift just before our trip. His body is going to be all screwed up and he won't be able to sleep at night. So if you see anyone roaming the cruise corridors at 3 am in the morning...well, that will be hubby. And in daylight hours, he will be the one sleeping on the glass bottom of the boat. Just push him aside.

Erin, glad to hear your doing well. I have been watching our gas prices go up and up, but then I remember I may be paying a few dollars more but thats nothing compared to the tragety others are dealing with Are you still planning on BB on Sunday?? Hoping for good weather that day too.

Kim, thanks for the invite to Paradise Beach, We may take you up on it. Hopefully the weather will be good while we are there and we'll have lots of choices. We are going to do BB on Sat. Sunday we will have to head back home! We are staying at Boardwalk on Sat. night. If the weather isn't particulary good on Sat.(and we don't want to waste our tickets to BB) we may just hang out at the creepy clown slide at the Boardwalk. I have no definite plans when we get off the ship other than procrastinating as long as possible about returning home. Of course at this rate, we may be hunting for gas so we can get home.

Dennis- okay, so what time will you be having class on the ship for all the husbands. Mine doesn't know what a mop is, and the vacuum is pretty much a stranger to him too. Where did you come from? I don't care if your skills are batchelor skills, you can come and practice at my house anytime! Add my DH to the selective hearing group. He tunes out the kids really well too!

David- you and my DH will get along really well. He gets really excited about techno gadgets, and computers, and digital cameras. He came home the other day telling me how he so graciously gave his digital camera (work camera) to one of his managers at the body shop because "his wasn't working well". I laughed and said "yeah right, you gave hime yours so you could go buy another one!" He just grinned. He's been digital camera shopping ever since!

Didi, I have no idea about the coffee, I haven't ever grown up, so I don't drink any! DH was there at 5:25, but no one showed up to open the station until 6. But he got filled up, so we are good to go for a few days.

I will try to answer these burning questions! I am so computer stupid so I may not be able to answer all of them. It's a hp pavilion zv6000. AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+ (current speed 990MHz) 100 GB hard drive, 15.4" widescreen display, no - we don't have the wireless internet thing (is that what you were talking about?), 512 MB Memory, DVD+-RW, CD-RW Anything else? Now I need a remedial computer class to make sure I get the most out of it that I can!

Yes, let's do make official plans! It's in 3 weeks, ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

1. I don't know if there is an official meeting at the port, but I am going to be there early anyway (10:45ish) if anyone else is going to be there as well and wants to meet and chat before boarding. Besides that, we are going all planning on eating at Parrot Cay right after embarkation, correct? Is there an official meeting during the sailaway party, Didi, dearest BVP hostess with the mostest???

2. I am up for this if anyone else wants to do it. I have been keeping an eye out for a Christmas Ornament or for anything that just screams "Kansas". What, like corn?

Why am I not surprised about the grumpy shirt!

Now that the girls have missed a week of school due to the hurricane, I guess I'll have to talk to Briley's teacher this next week (if they go back to school). I don't know why I am so nervous about it. Of course, even if I would have planned a cruise around the fall break, it wouldn't have mattered at this point. Due to the missed hurricane days, the fall break will be taken away, and probably a day at Thanksgiving. So, we'll just go and be happy!

Didi- about the expresso shots! I try coffee every few years and I just have never liked the taste of it. I know what your thinking, my DH hates cats and I don't like coffee, your probably hoping that we won't find the cruise meet on the ship! I think its more of a temp thing with me. I'm really not into hot drinks, I only drink hot chocolate when it's really cold outside. I like my drinks ice cold. I like my tea with lots of ice and a little tea. I just tell my mom that coffee is a grown up persons drink, and I've never grown up. Dh does drink coffee at work sometimes.(maybe that will redeem him a little)
I keep a coffee pot here at home just in case my relatives come to visit. Each time I have to call my mom so that she can tell me how many scoops it takes!

I gotta take Lilo to the vet this morning for a shot. That ought to be fun since all the kids are with me Then it's off to get our teeth cleaned! Wahoo, double fun today! I may venture to the grocery store to see if any food is left. Since gas is scarce, everyone thinks we won't have food and the grocery store shelfs are wiped out right now. I reminded my mother last night, that since most stores were out of power for a day, all cold items and frozen items had to be thrown away. I think it's just that they haven't had a chance to replenish the shelves yet. But people are really freaking out about gas and food. They arrested at least 8 people at the gas stations yesterday because of fighting! All our gas stations are having to be operated by the national guard and mostly our local police. Really sad!

The Blue Mountain blend is not bad from BJ's. I've had it and it's quite yummy. The real straight stuff of Jamacian Blue Mountain is very expensive, that will cost you the big bucks. It's over $20.00 for less than a pound. Since I am a coffee snob, I would know this since I purchased a stash... . This stash is only pulled out for very special occassions. If anyone is interested I could give you the link that I ordered from. I do rank real Colombian one of the best coffees to drink. Kona Gold is great too.

Talking about coffee, I guess the Gulf held major coffee supplies. They say the cost of coffee is going up along with gas. I'm going to have to run to BJ's and pick up my Colombian. ME WITH OUT COFFEE,

Dang, I have to get back to work. Hopefully we will be let out early today to start the long weekend.

ErinC- you and I have the exact same attitude about coffee. If I'm freezing or extremely tired, I will drink some. Otherwise I'm willing to sacrifice my beans to Didi. Your hurricane adventures are very interesting. Keep the reports coming!

Anyone else need a door sign? Let me know by sending a PM to me. In the PM just write what you want on it such as last names, first names, where you are from, etc. If you can send me a pic that would be awesome too. Or just post one on this thread and I will steal the pic from here. So far I've made one for Julie, Lori, Smilingmouse, Didi (almost done), and three for myself. I love to make them, so just let me know. The deadline is coming!

I'm still waiting for docs. I'm home all day today so this would be a perfect day for the door bell to ring! Then the doc dance can be done on the kitchen table.!
