Is it time to go yet??????

Tomorrow it will be 3wks and 1 day till go time :cheer2: :Pinkbounc
I'm really getting excited can you tell?????? :rotfl:

I have good news I just returned from DD's Middle School orientation I told all her teacher and the school counselor we will be gone and none of them had a problem with it....fffhhhuuuu!!!! One down one to go. :Pinkbounc
I didn't volunteer where we are going, but when her science teacher asked and DD told her a cruise, she was VERY jealous!!!! She may give her an assignment on waves and or tides :teeth: This is the same teacher DD had for summer science camp so she already knows her......
They were all very positive about getting the work for the abscense. It may be difficult to get it 1wk prior to the trip (since its only 3wks into the school year) but if all else fails Travel days may become schoolwork days too.

Hi all, internet has been down all day today, but back on tonight. The girls were scheduled to go back to school tomorrow, but late this afternoon they cancelled school again because we have a major gas shortage! Apparently our school buses only have a three day supply. Between all the folks that fled the hurricane, all the generators being run because of loss of power there is NO gas to be had in our county! If a station gets gas, its gone within a few hours and the lines are crazy. I had a full tank before the storm (got about 3/4 full now) DH has less than a 1/4 of tank. We both drive gas suckers, I've got a Yukon and DH has a GMC truck. I seriously am begging him to bring me home a Kia to drive from the body shop. We have several kia loaner cars that we give out to customers and I'm thinking I'm going to have to steal one of them. Otherwise, I'm going to be forced to stay home and clean house all day, and I just don't think I can take it! :rotfl2: I made my Mom call the police station(since she works there) tonight and find out which stations are supposed to get gas tomorrow. She told me that a station near our house is supposed to open at 5:00 am with gas. Didi since you'll already be up would you mind filling it up for me? ;) Just kidding, but I will be sending DH out the door at 4:45 to go and fill up. I just keep telling myself that we are so blessed compared to so many others, and that puts it all into prospective.
I am concerned that we are driving to the cruise, and this could be an issue if things don't improve. It amazes me that we are so much closer to WDW than most of you, but could never fly as cheaply as you all can. Our airfare is usually twice what you all can fly for and you are much farther away. :confused3

Anyway, Dennis Congrats on the job!! :cheer2: This is great news. I'm so glad that it doesn't mess up your cruise plans, I'm looking forward to getting to meet you and Chrystina.

Okay, here are our cruise plans.
Key West- probably the train or trolley tour, and thanks to you ladies, a trip to the shoe store! Wait till Southermouse gets a look at those shoes! She is a shoe freak too! And the prices are just great!
Grand Cayman- the sting ray tour and city tour with Nativeway. I'm hoping that the kids don't freak out. I figure the Keri and I can take turns in the water if the kids freak out, we'll leave them in the boat to watch.
Cozumel- I think we are going to head to Chankanaab Park, look around, maybe see the sea lion show. I really don't have anything set in stone for the day.
CC-probably just playing in the water with the kids and being a big blob in the sand. I'm just praying for decent weather on this day. Last time we cruised it rained all day at CC. The place was beautiful anyway, but sunshine would really be a plus. :sunny:

Well I guess I should get these kids to bed, even if they don't have school tomorrow. Don't want their schedules to get too wacked out!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JULIE!! :wizard:  A new laptop, that's a great gift! Too bad Clint didn't pick you out a dress for the cruise! :teeth:

Erin, glad to hear your doing well. I have been watching our gas prices go up and up, but then I remember I may be paying a few dollars more but thats nothing compared to the tragety others are dealing with :grouphug:
Are you still planning on BB on Sunday?? Hoping for good weather that day too.
I you want you can join us at paradise beach in Cozumel and be a beach blob with the rest of us :rotfl:

Oh yeah, I didn't mention I was almost ready to cry as I took DD around her new school......when did she grow up???? :guilty:

Wow! I was gone for 3 days, and you filled 6 pages!!!

I don't know where to start, so

Dennis---Cngrats!!!!!!

Julie--Bon Anniverasire (Happy Birthday, in French)...a little late

Erin and Southern Mouse---very glad all is ok for both of you!!!

Didi---Thanks for the good wishes, but I'n not the one affected by the hurricane---that's SouthernMouse. I live in MN, so no chance of hurrricanes for me..

I'm very tired, so I'm off to bed. Night all!

Julie ~ :bday: :cake: :bday:

ALL ~ Thanks for the Congrats on the "new" job! Looking forward to the new challenges. :teeth: I am a "lazy workaholic". :rolleyes1

Becky ~ Welcome back. Hope you had a good trip.

ErinC ~ Hang in there, you won't be the only one looking for those Kias! Might want to look at your planned driving route to DCL Port. Not sure what the condition of I-10 is along the FL Panhandle.

SouthernMouse ~ U TOO!!! Our prayers are with you.

DIDI/Deanna/Kim/Patti ~ :wave2:

Gotta go .. Back later ...

Dennis

Good morning,

Dennis- :wave2: Congrats on the new job! Glad you are staying on our cruise.

Julie- Yes, I agree with Kim. Why didn't your DH get you a formal dress for the night? :rotfl:

Smilingmouse- Welcome back. Sorry you missed your opportunity to go to Tokyo, etc. Maybe next time!

ErinC- Wow. Your stories really puts everything in perspective. I guess I will quit crying about gas prices, and just be glad we have it! It is around the $3 a gallon mark in Kansas City.

Have a great day! Didi- how's the coffee this morning? Deanna

We are also driving to down to Florida for the cruise. Had planned on gas being less than $2.50 / gallon. So much for that. On my way to work last night the price had jumped to $3.29 / gallon. That was a $.71 / gallon increase in less than 14 hours. We might have to reconsider just playing on the beach and in the water at CC instead doing the CC Getaway Package.

Brad

Dennis-- Thanks :) I did have a great trip---unfortunately, I do have a mild sun burn :( but that should be gone shortly!

Deanna-- Gee thanks ;)

Hello! Thanks for the happy birthday wishes, everyone. It was a great birthday!

Kim - I am relieved for you that your daughter's teachers were fine with the trip. Let's hope it holds true for the other daughter! :goodvibes

Erin - Thanks for the update. Happy to hear, other than gas shortage, your family is doing well. :) And, had my huband picked out something for formal night, it would probably be along the same lines as what the JD Kansas Dress Co. puts out! :rotfl:

talk more later! :wave2:

Yo Mateys

Just taking a break from housecleaning ... Mopping, Vacuuming, Toilets, Laundry and such. Thursday night is typically "house cleaning" night! Won't Chrystina  be suprised when she comes home! :rolleyes1

Gas in ELP ranging from $2.85~$3.00 but expect that will go up by tommorrow. Clearly making me relook a new car purchase. In th egrand scheme of things this morning ... clearly, a blessing.

Becky ~ Consider it a "base tan". :teeth:

Julie ~ So, are you bringing your new laptop with you??? So, David has something to do when he is babysitting at Paradise Beach? :badpc:

Well, there's the washing machine ... CYA

Dennis

IT'S SEPTEMBER!!!! We're all going on a cruise this month!!! WOOOO-HOOOO! :sunny: :flower: :goodvibes :cheer2: :jumping1: :jumping3: :jumping2:

Now that the kiddies are back in school, I'm trying to do 3 things every day:

1) Organize something
2) Fix something
and 3) pack something for the cruise.

So far, I've packed our toothbrushes today so one to-do down, 2 to go.

Hey, and don't forget about www.gasbuddy.com to find the "cheapest" gas.

Look how close we are to 2,000 posts!

Jamie - Oh, you're right - This is our cruise month! That is pretty darn exciting! WOO-HOO!! :Pinkbounc I just looked at gasbuddy.com. I didn't even know that existed, thanks!

Dennis - I am cleaning today, too. I would like to not do it though so when you get done there in ELP, why don't you take a short jog north to Kansas and bring your mop? :flower:

Deanna - If you belong to Sam's Club, the gas is cheapest there at the one on 135th St in Overland Park - $2.57/gallon.

Hey Julie, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY. :bday: :bday:

Gosh, what was I thinking of course I have the perfect dress for formal night!!! Hope I don't stain it with coffee before I go on the cruise!!!! :rotfl2: I don't think I will have time to bring it to the cleaners!!! :rotfl2: You got a laptop from the DH, YOU MUST HAVE BEEN A VERY GOOD GIRL!!!!! ;) I wasn't as nice, :rolleyes1 so I was shut off by the DH last night!!! No laptop use for me!

Erin, I would be glad to fill up your tank, does that gas station serve coffee too? ;) :rotfl: If they have a good cup of java, I'm your gal! :teeth:

Dennis, could I pay you to do our laundry too? Gosh, your DW, has it good. Maybe you could teach my DH.... MY DH has selective hearing when I need him to help with the household chores!! :rotfl2:

Deanna, the coffee was outstanding as always!!! I love mine with a dash of milk and 1 level tsp of sugar. :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc Of course, it has to be in my Winnie the Pooh mug, this mug is jumbo size....so I consume two a day. I would say it's around 5 normal cups. During the weekend it's more, can you see me on the cruise :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :jumping1: :jumping1: My DH said he forwarded you the updated pic...I don't think he has. Would you let me know if my DH is mistaken?

Gotta go, I miss my laptop. :moped:

Didi :wizard:

Good News, I'll have my laptop tonight. I'll be able to spread Good Morning Cheer in the AM!!

Didi :wizard:

Yea! :cheer2: "Coffee Talk with Didi" is back on tomorrow!

Julie ~ You want me to "hop over" to Kansas & BRING THE MOP?! :rolleyes1 I am sure that if I head on up to DIDI's place, she will, at least, provide the soap. :flower: Perhaps even a cup of coffee? :teeth: You both need be aware, although I help with the household chores, I do NOT do them to Chrystina's  standards. :confused3 I have been a "Class B" Bachelor for too long. :rotfl2: BUT, since it is your birthday, I guess I can bring the mop too... :moped: :love2:

Happy belated Julie! So..did you ask for a laptop or was it a complete surprise?
We bought one in the summer. Well, actually it was a deal with my employer. The laptop is going to be used STRICTLY for business. (yeah right..strictly for business :rotfl: ) However, if I break it, I buy it. Actually, I do buy it..eventually, but it's an interest-free loan over a LONG period of time, and they deduct a few dollars a month off my paycheque. Very painless that way.

So we went to the bank today to get some American currency. DD takes a look at the money and says "boy..does it ever look weird". :rotfl: And this comment is coming from Canadians who have loonies, and toonies and rainbow-coloured money!
