Here is a great way to get your brain ticking about the DIS meet. Here is a good thread to read.

It seems as though some have met in the Promenade Lounge because of air conditioning and drinks. Some have had a pre-meet before boarding the ship at the coffee shop in the cruise terminal while waiting. Some have met at the pool. Some have met at Scoops.

Some other times people have gotten together is at Diversions- 10 p.m., or 70s night and 80s night they went as a group.

Okay, is this helping your brain? Let's see some ideas. WE CAN DO IT!!!! WE ARE OCD PLANNERS!

I'm still trying to get some ideas from other threads............these ideas have been copied and pasted from other sites.......

One of the DISers had a wonderful idea, bring a brown bag of gifts, from the area where you live, no more than $10, and we'll exchange. IT WAS SO MUCH FUN.
We must have had around 11-12 families. (samples: Hershey bars and tastykakes from PA, salt water taffey from NJ, dice from Las Vegas, Starbucks coffee from WAshington state, Cincinnati Reds items, scones from England,---sorry, I didn't see all the contents in the bags)..

Here's another........
After dinner, we had arranged to meet our DISer friends at Scoops at 10pm. We met many couples and shared a brown bag swap with our new friends. The brown bag contained approximately $10 worth of trinkets and a food item from our hometowns. It was fun to meet people from.....NY, NH, CA, NV, VA, GB, WA and NJ! It was chilly on deck so we were all in our sweatsuits but we had a nice long visit and started to plan some rendevous for the following day!

After dinner, we went to Diversions to meet our new DIS friends and then headed over to Rockin Bar D, where we danced with the Charles Marshall band. It was a rocking night and the band was outstanding.

Here is another cute game idea I saw on a thread...........Karaeric = TAG GAME.: If you would like to play, please PM Kara your stateroom # and names. If you don't yet have a cabin #, send it as soon as you get it.we will have one (or two) Mickey shaped door magnets that will get passed around the ship. Each person who receives the magnet will sign it, then go "tag" another participant's cabin door! It's a lot of fun. I'm hoping we can get the Mickey to go around to everyone more than once since we have 14 days!

Deanna- I like the Christmas ornament, and the brown bag idea. The brown bag idea would give everyone something from each family, that would be cool.

Julie- I anxious to see the photos!

I need to go and finish dinner. I was going to grill, but it's pouring buckets right now, so I guess I'll go with plan B.

If you want to do this magnet tag, I've already got Captain Mickey magnets that I made and was going to give to everyone (julie and ingrid they're colored versions of what we sent with the booklet)

Wow! Less than a month to go and I think (?) I'm up to speed after being offline for some time.

Gotta say....LOOOOOVE those dresses!!!

Once kids go back to school on Monday, I hope to sit down and figure out what we're doing in ports. I hope to check in more often too!

I put more stuff on my packing pile today. Getting excited!

Okay, I'm still not off the floor from yesterday. Has anyone called 911 yet? I still can't breathe!

Okay, so we have one vote for the DIS magnet Tag game. The mickeys that you already have made will work great, bpicard9! Are they already on magnet paper? Are they big enough for everyone to sign them before passing them along to the next door? Does anyone want excluded from the game. Who wants to be in charge of this one?

Now we also have one vote for the brown bag. Anyone else want a vote one way or another?

I would love to vote for the ornament exchange.

Any other ideas out there? I'm gonna keep researching for ideas.

Wow. Those dresses are still so funny to me! I still think julie's is the best. Maybe we will vote her prom queen on formal night. Was anyone really a prom queen at their school?

I like the idea of exchanging with one other family/person.....I think brown bag might be easiest....I haven't seen many x-mas orniments around yet. I also think the brown bag would be kinda fun Would we fill bags with gifts from our state/area? Regarding meet times, places...I'm game for anything

Would anyone be interested in meeting in WDW before the cruise? I'm coming to FL on 9/22, and I'll be at WDW on 9/23.....

I don't have a preferance for the Meet, we have never done one.

I'm up for most anything, but if we do brown bag, someone will need to give me ideas......I have NO creative party planning skills in the least ....Trust me its very sad

Ingrid & Becky, since you all would be such a help to the CM's with your cleaning up skills, you could probably cut some of the money out of their tips. So in actuallity, these dresses could save you money on the cruise!

How about an unofficial first meeting at the coffee shop in the terminal. We can have a sign on a table letting people know where the DIS group is. Will anyone be there early enough? Maybe around 11:30 a.m.?

How about an official DIS meeting at 3 p.m. Will everybody be on by then? How about let's meet at Scoops? For anyone who has been on the ship before, is there enough room and tables near Scoops, or is it too crazy? Isn't Scoops near the pool also? Then everyone can have a cone to keep cool. That way the little kids will be happy too. Maybe someone can make a DIS sign to put on a table, so we will all know the central spot to meet. Any volunteers? The gift exchange will be up in the air. Keep the ideas pouring in please!

Yes, it can get kind of crazy in the area, but I think we might be ok if we do this before the life boat drill....What do the rest of the vets think?? I don't remem,ber how the seating is since I didn't spend much time there.....can any other vets help me with this

Hey, I missed out on some ocd stuff here. We were at the circus tonight!

Anyway, was Deanna talking about the coffee shop in the terminal before we board the boat or the one on the boat? I probably will not be able to do any meets right away if it is in an "adult" area. I like the idea of meeting at the terminal, though. We will definately be there by 11:30 am, no problems.
