Becky ~ I have just the solution to fear of flying ~ Get a Pilot's License!!! :goodvibes NO, I am not kidding. I was not afraid of flying but small planes (four seaters) made me nervous. NOT liking that, I learned to fly. Got my floatplane license in a two seater J-3 Piper Cub where the pilot sits in the back seat. What a trip!!! Just too much fun!!! Once you learn all the intricacies, instead of worrying about flying, you can critique the landings & take-offs. Seriously, try taking a flying lesson or two, I think once you know how a plane works, much of your fear will dissolve. Planes are made to fly, that's why they have to be tied down. I just LOVE being in a plane with the engine turned off at 3000 feet. TOO cool. Really looking forward to my first GLIDER ride which is still somewhere in my future, along with a hot air balloon ride!!!

Marsha ~ Fishing? NOW, we're talking ... what & where? Headed for Belize in December and have NOT told Chrystina  that Ambergis Caye is one of the top ten saltwater flyfishing spots in the world. However, she is pretty smart and may catch on when I start backing my 7-9 weight flyrods for the trip. So, fresh or salt water, river, streams, lakes, oceans or all of the above? I am definitely, a "H2O Baby" and love fishing ... So, you can meet DIDI & me for the early morning constitutionals (Chrystina  sleeps late). Just no throwing me overboard after I crush the Cribbage Queens :rolleyes1 ... Good Morning DIDI ...

Deanna ~ In Alaska, Mt McKinley is more appropriately referred to as "Denali" meaning "Great One" from Athabascan Tribal language.... :teeth:

Julie ~ Have travelled Kansas, "great" steakhouse restaurants, although the view from the restaurant on top of the highest peak was limited due to ground fog :rotfl2:

Well ~Off to see what adventures today has & lobster for dinner :Pinkbounc

Dennis

Good morning,

Marsha- I loved your favorite job! That is great. GO MCDONALDS!

Dennis- Thanks for making my language arts skills more hip. :cool1: Also I'm so sorry the fog was so thick on your visit to KC. :teeth: The views of the mountain peaks are just fabulous certain times of the year. :rotfl: And lastly, a Glider ride would be my absolute fear! You are so adventuresome!

bpicard9- Wow. You list surprised me with the librarian/fencing combo. Those two things just don't seem to go together to me. Did you go to college in KC? Or just attend our festivals while in college?

I get to meet Julie today for lunch. Anyone is invited so Smilingmouse can take the train down to KC, Dennis can just glide on in to KC, bpicard9 can come to reminise(?) about the good old days! And we will meet at McDonald's for a birthday celebration so Marsha can serve us and be happy at her job! Sounds like a date to me! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc See ya there!

Have a magical day! (as Disney would say) Deanna princess:

5 things to know about my DH:

1. He is 6'4" and would love to challenge anyone to a game of basketball. Especially if you are under 5'. :rotfl:
2. Loves to play the card game Pitch. :cool1:
3. Is a weight lifter so works out almost everyday.
4. His number one love in life is turkey hunting. Yes, I said number 1, I am his number 2 love. :love2:
5. Loves to watch Nascar. His favorite driver is Jeff Gordon. :moped:

Deanna - Attended UMKC for a couple of years (learned to fence there) then finished up at Mizzou. Would love to meet up with you and Julie. :wave2: I'd like to take the family up to the RenFest this year, maybe we can all get together then.

Dennis - Flying in a glider is one of my dreams. :sunny: I imangine no engine noise and just soaring over everything. My one regret from Disneyland was not getting to go on the Soarin' ride. They say it is a lot like hanggliding. I hope, too, to someday fly in a hot air balloon.

BTW, my husband proposed on a trout stream after giving me my first fly fishing lesson :teeth: (I had always used reels before)

smilingmouse - kind of a silly question but, since you've been to so many parks, which has your favorite castle. Since we just returned, this is my current fav.

50th.jpg

Dennis I will need someone to hang out with in the morning, and don't worry I don't plan to loose so I won't need to throw you over board.

Hubbys fishing I am not sure what he likes, he goes with his Dad or his Daughter and I very seldom see any fish. And if he brings it home its already cut up and ready to eat.

Cujo Bugs - I can play Basketball with DH I am only 4'11

Hi all, well we survived our second week of school! Helped DD's Kindergarten class make green eggs and ham this morning. Took Lilo to the vet this afternoon. Lilo has gained 6 lbs(she weighs 14 lbs now)in 3 WEEKS!! :dog: Just great, I really wanted a small dog. Vet says she may end of weighing around 40 lbs.

Giles family: the picture of your daughter is great! Looks like she was having a lot of fun. We went to a wedding recently were the whole beginning of the ceremony was a power point presentation of the bride and groom, from birth to the present. It was really neat. Hope yours goes well.

Here's my list of 5 (as boring as they may be)...

1. I was born and raised in Florida, my parents moved to Alabama when I was a Sophmore in college.
2. DH and I met at church. I came home "to Alabama" for the first time to visit my parents and met DH at church where my parents were attending. I had actually been dating someone else for 2 years, I dumped him, and DH and I were engaged 6 months later!
3. I have a BA in Elementary Education. I taught 6th grade for 3 years before Briley was born.
4. Now I'm a SAHM. The pay stinks, but it is my favorite job to date.
5. My favorite thing to obsess about is Disney. I like to plan all our DVC trips a couple of years in advance. At first DH just humored me, but he loves Disney now, and doesn't mind the multiple trips to the "World".

DH's list...
1. DH was born and raised in Baldwin Co. Alabama. ALL of his family lives here! He is the oldest grandchild in his family. My girls have the blessing of having 4 sets of grandparents within 10 miles of our house, and they all attend church with us. (2 grands, 2 greatgrands)
2. DH manages our family business. He is the 3rd generation to take part in our family business. Our family has 3 collision repair businesses in Baldwin Co.
which leads me to the next point...
3. I know this won't go over well here, but DH hates cats! :cat: I think it has to do with repainting too many vehicles with cat scratches! :teeth: Please don't hold it against him! ;)
4.DH has recently become a fitness nut. He's lost over 40 lbs, he works out all the time, rides his new bike, and is keeping me on the straight and narrow with "our" diet. For the first 11 years of our marriage he refused to eat anything that was green. His vegetable list included corn and potatoes. Along with his new lifestyle he is eating all kinds of food that I have never seen him eat. I keep asking him "Who are you, and what did you do with my husband?" ;)
5. And last but not least, he's a great daddy to our 3 girls. Whenever anyone asks if he wishes he would of had a boy, he says "no way, I love my girls and wouldn't trade them for anything!"

Happy Friday everyone,
WOW you guys have been busy.

Well 5 things you don't know about me???
1. Born and raised 3rd generation in San Diego CA. Have developed an aversion to salt water though, go figure.
2. Grew up snow sking since I was little, have developed a crippling fear of hights so won't do that anymore. Julie we have that in common.
4. My first motorized vehicle was a Yamaha 80 motorcycle, I was probably about 7-8yrs old. Helmet made me very top heavy. We vacationed in the desert and as soon as I could reach the pedals and could manage a stick I was driving our dune buggy.
5. I'm a certified Orthopedic technician and medical transcriptionist. But love my current job (for almost 10 years) of medical secretary. Part-time only so I can be home when dd's are home from school.
6. DH and I married after only dating 2months. We had 2 weddings, and he is 8yrs older than me. :love2:

There's probably a lot you don't know about DH.
1. Originally from Okland CA, Bay area.
2. Works for a national roofing manufacturer, based in Saganaw MI.
Travels the 13 western states including Canada and Mexico.
3. We met while living in the same apartment complex.
4. He too loves his 2 DD's and wouldn't trade them for DS's any day.
5. Enjoys a good game of golf, and wishes he could go more.

Oh..we are suppose to do significant others too?

I could be in trouble. Good thing he does'nt read these boards.

1. He has an extremely good sense of humour. He has to.. to live with me.

2. He is very untidy. When we were dating I went over to his house and left a glass of water on the coffee table. Two weeks later, I visited him again..and the glass was still on the coffee table. Yes, I still married him.

3. He is a computer gaming nut. He can easily spend over 80 hours a week playing computer games (drives me crazy!)

4. He loves golf. However, either the weather or his work schedule does'nt give me much time to play.

5. On the outside he looks tough, but on the inside he has a heart of gold.

Oh one more thing about DH: He HATES exercise :rotfl:

Maybe some of the other DH's will rub off on him alittle  ...
What am I thinking? :rotfl:

ErinC: wow I can't imagine a small dog that heavy....our midsize lab mix weights 50 lbs.

Deanna and Julie you need to tell us all about your "rendevous".

Well, today was meet this unknown internet girl that I met online. A.K.A. Julie. My husband was teasing me this morning that some people who meet others by way of the internet don't always come back home. I laughed. I noted I had previously seen Julie's picture and she looked like she weighed 90 lbs. So I knew I could handle my own today! Anyway, we had an awesome time. She is gorgeous with a great personality to go with it! Although I met her on the worst day of her life, because her purse had been stolen the night before. So today she was trying to call all the places to get things cancelled. Poor thing. She even paid for my lunch! Wow. :earseek: I need to ask her out to lunch more often. :goodvibes
I got to see her pics from her previous cruise. She reminded me how much money I'm about to spend in Shutters. :teeth: I'm the type that just can't walk away from those pics knowing they are going in the trash. That is a heartbreaker. She had some awesome pics.
We were curious, just what does everybody's screen name mean? Mine is cujobugs because our cat's name is Cujo, and our lost bunny's name is bugs. Anyone else want to reveal their screen name secret?
We decided we deserved moose nuggets for meeting first. Please please please, Dennis, can we have some?! :cool1:
I'm loving the 5 things about DH and DW. These are quite interesting!
More later. See ya. Deanna

bpicard ~ Soarin is a great ride - Much fun!!! :Pinkbounc So, he proposed on a trout stream? What did you use to catch him, an egg-sucking leech, stone pheasant or mayfly pattern? Obviously, you didn't throw him back...

Marsha~You may not plan on losing, but really, get a grip on reality! :rotfl2:

Let's see ... Ingrid & Kim's husbands play golf .. David??? Hmmm ...That would make a fourth now if I could only get a "kitchen pass" ... NOT likely :rotfl2:

CujoBugs - I vaguely remember the game of Pitch from when I was a bit younger ... maybe I will study up so I can play with your Hubby between Cribbage conquests. Sorry about the Denali lesson ~ It's an "Alaska thing", only folks from "outside" call it Mt McKinley. :sunny:

Well, see ya tommorrow ...

Dennis

Giles family- OH MY GOODNESS! I can't believe that news! I am so sorry. You must be hurting so badly. Does he live near you? Here is a group DIS hug. :grouphug:

Well, I haven't benn to DL yet (that's coming in November, so I can only compare WDW and DLP. Between those two, DLP is definately my favorite! In many ways, I prefer DLP over WDW. I love them both, but DLP combines two of my favorite things: France and Disney....I guess that makes me a bit biased, lol

Dennis, thank you for the suggestion, but there is NO WAY I could EVER fly a small plane :earseek: :earseek:
