I suspect you've already thought of this, but any way you can transfer the resale points you want to use into a qualified Membership and then buy into that? (This would mean you'd need to have not used your transfer on either Membership yet, and that you haven't bought OTUP on the qualified membership.)

I actually did think about that.

Think is since we have multiple memberships and are two owners I’d like to buy the bogo for the both of us. Of course we both need the MMB membership.
Also getting bogo on a resale first would ensure I don’t waste money on the 2nd MMB purchase.

I have been trying to buy the bogo points today. I've tried calling twice and both times Ive been turned down to get the points in my resale only membership.

the CM's claim they are not allowed to put the points in a resale membership and its agains the rules.

It is very possible that they have decided to put limitations on this and that they won’t let you get them BOGO expect in an eligible membership.

Resale memberships may be restricted to having to pay full price.

If you have tried that many times, it really may be that buying the BOGO OTUP really isn't allowed on a membership that is resale only/not eligible for benefits, even if you have an eligible membership that did allow you to buy the MMB.

IMO I think it is similar to the sorcerer's pass with resale points questions they got early on. Nothing in the terms and conditions says that you can't use restricted resale points specifically, but when we inquired they said that it would be direct/exchange eligible points and that is it. Then they later added a FAQ note about the exchange eligible points only.

In both cases it appears to me that they are assuming that since you are buying MMB (that requires unrestricted points/an eligible membership), they are assuming/requiring that you use the benefits with unrestricted points/eligible memberships as well when they can

I called DVC MS today and bought my MMB BOGO OTUPs now that we're in the 7 month window for my Oct UY. This is a direct/perks-eligible membership. Everything went smoothly, but a little slowly. I would have thought that it would be more automated now that we're in the 2nd year of MMB. There was a 5+ minute time where he put me on hold to get the 12 additional points.

Looking at my contracts, 12 points came from RIV and 12 came from VGC.

I'm 85% sure that's beause they are using the transfer mechanism for the "free" points. I suspect this is tied to their back-end accounting system--they need to charge however they value those points interanllyl to the DVD marketing budget, because there is no revenue associated with them.

I've now tried 3 times. I actually thought that 3rd time was a charm. I got the first 12 points in my account, I paid and then I waited. Finally the CM came back and said it was not possible due to the membership was a resale membership only. I ended up with a refund and the first 12 points gone from my account.


BTW, does anyone know if its in the T&C that the membership has to be eligible for MMB or direct perks to receive the bogo points?

Any pointers to what you did or maybe you just got lucky? You didn't experience any sort of hiccups before you had your points?

I'm so sorry you've had so much trouble! Maybe I just got lucky or it helped that my husband bought the bogo OTUP on the same membership last year.

I did use the specific resale membership number when giving all the information at the beginning of the call before connecting with the CM. Once he came on I mentioned I wanted to buy the MMB bogo OTUP to book a room at Poly and gave the date. It did take the CM a little longer than usual, maybe 10-15 minutes on hold, but he told me he just wanted to make sure he got it all correct and that everything was good to go. I gave him the payment then he gave me my confirmation number and that was that.

Interesting theory. We bought it and was told no. Then called back and it got processed so we technically bought it before we bought the OTUP.

Are you making a reservation? I would act like you are adding a day onto a reservation. Make sure you have it set up so that you need exactly 24 points for the reservation.
