So ... as always, the conversations always get around to the four footed furry family members ... Ours are cats too. Socrates & Sabrina ~ Just your run of the mill tabby cats. Although Socrates' "pther name" is Roadkill. Almost like Giles, I found him sitting in the middle of the road. A Tractor trailer had just made cow patties of two of his siblings and he was just sitting there. When I went over to him, he just climbed up my pants leg and MADE me take him home!!! Small enough to fit in a teacup with fleas bigger than him!!! Turned out to be a great cat ...

On other news, SUNBURNED today... Too much of that desert sun yesterday. Hopefully, I will be bale to get a good baseline tan before cruise date. For anyone who has not been .... Carib sun can be brutally hot!!! Best be prepared and bring the sunblock....

Hi All,

Dennis: I think every cat lover has a cat like that. We picked up ours outside of Home Depot. Just walked to us and said "blerp" which means "Going my way?" so we scooped her up and named her Ginger (after Rocky & Ginger from CHicken Run). Gingers older "sister" is Princess after Princess Leigh.

We also have 4 hamsters (1 golden syrian & 3 dwarf), Star, Coffee, Chip & Dale. Can you guess which two hamsters are twins?

Is it time to go YET?????

Picked up two books to read about Key West & Grand Cayman. This should really help get my OCD cranked up to the MAX!!!

Okay, I'm finally reporting back in ....

Welcome David and family, and Didi and family!!

Our impromtu Disney trip was great. We didn't tell DD's until we were about 60 miles from home. They both had huge grins on their faces, and then turned to see if they had anything in the back of the car. I laughed and told them not to worry, we were not going to WDW naked! The trip was fun, we did MGM and Epcot on Sat. (just the new stuff and the favorites) and then did MK on Monday with my Sister and BLaw, and three nieces (lots of estrogen in this family). It was the first time that all six girls had been at WDW together and loved it. We could not get over how "unbusy" the parks were for Memorial Day Weekend. I was really prepared for the worst. I told the girls that we would be lucky to ride a "few" rides in the park. We rode everything (Space mountain 3 or 4 times). Most rides had 30 to 40 minute waits, but fastpasses would be available within the next hour, so we never really waited for anything. The trip could not have been better (well it would have been nice if it were only 70 degrees ) ,but thats what you get in May. The worst part was coming home. I keep trying to convince DH that Celebration needs a collision repair center. Surely with all those retired folks driving those golf cart things around town, they are probably in need of someone to repair them! He keeps telling me that it wouldn't be near as fun to go, if we already lived there, but I just don't believe it!
Oh well enough of my whining. I will get my girls to complete the mickey project as soon as possible, so we can be in the book.

Giles family- got the pic. How adorable. Holland was so excited! She keeps talking about meeting your DD on the cruise.

90 days will be aproaching soon! Anyone else going to be trying to make Palo reservations online? I think that's all I'm going to try to do, other than register my kids for the clubs. I haven't finalized all the details about our excursion yet either. I think we are going to use Nativeway, and do the stingray excursion as well as the turtle farm and city tour. It seemed like a pretty good bargain for the whole excursion. The whole tour and excursion is from 10- 2pm. so we should be able to do both and be back on the ship in plenty of time.

Well, need to go finish repainting DD9's room. She turned 9 last week and "outgrew" her room. It was light pink and had a picket fence border with bunnies! Weve now traded in light pink for lime green! I started painting this morning and every time I go upstairs the color seems darker and darker. Wow, its going to be bright! Have a great day all!

I just wanted to ask a question for all of you travelers that have cruised DCL before.

1)I know what the DCL dress code is, but how closely do the cruisers follow this recommendation? I'm asking here because I don't want to get flamed.

2) On the 'Resort casual' nights I understand that jeans wont cut it. For me and the boys will nice chino's or nice shorts w/a Polo shirt cut it?

2a)How about shoes vs sneakers?

3) On the semi-formal evening can I get by w/slacks, shirt & tie? I think I need a suit for Palo anyway so I guess I can wear that twice.

3a) How about the young men on the semi-formal evening?

4) I think we may try and get Palo reservation for the formal evening. How can you tell which evening is going to be formal?

That's more than enough questions for this evening. Gotta go fix the grill now. Yuck!

That darned PC is still stumping me... I've got a few more tricks left though. Otherwise I'm gonna have to spend some dough.

David - Two cats are enough for us ... Gone too often for more critters ... Although I would like to get a dog again someday....

Your clothing analysis is pretty much right on... Take a suit for formal night. Semi-formal, I will probably just wear a tie. Dressing up for dinner has more to do with Chrystina for me than the dress code. Other cruise lines (Princess & Holland) can be picky about this stuff but Disney understands the "family" thing. Some guys wear tuxedos but on Disney it's usually about 50-50. Formal pictures and such. For me, Disney is a suit & tie - TOPS. On other nights, nice slacks and polo shirts work too. I have been know to wear my bireknstock sandals rather than shoes. My recommendation is clean the kids up appropriate to age, for pictures, and to go "out to dinner" at a nice place and then have a good time!!!

Life has been too busy to stop and read this board. We are thinking of selling our home, so my extra time has been spent painting, cleaning, etc. instead of checking this board. I ought to be ashamed of myself.

I think we are the only family on the entire continent that is actually going on a DCL cruise and not having any intentions on making Palo reservations! I know it's awfully nice, but we really aren't dining people. When we have gone to nice places here in the city for special occasions, we just kinda sit there and wait for the bill, so we can leave. For a romantic evening, I would rather just sit out on a quiet deck somewhere at sunset and just talk. Are we nuts for not being interested in this? I think also because it's our first cruise, we are going to be absorbed and in awe enough in other stuff on the ship. I think if we went on a second cruise (which I sure hope we do!!), I would maybe consider Palo reservations, but this time we are going to opt out. I may regret it though...because I've heard so many wonderful things about it.

David - Dennis is on target about the dress code. I was all worried about it when we went and then we get to the dining room the first night and there were people at the table next to us in dirty sweatsuits. I am hoping it was just because maybe they didn't get their luggage yet. I THINK recently Disney changed it policy about jeans in the dining rooms, but I'm not sure.

GilesFamily- We are not doing Palo either. I would like to try it, I just know that my son will not stay in Flounders for even 5 minutes so I am not even going to worry about it. Maybe next time!

This all sounds good, David. My ds, age 8, wore khakis and a golf shirt to the resort casual night. For the semi-formal, he wore the same pants with a long sleeved oxford and we took a tie for him. He has a navy suit so he wore the jacket w/the khakis on the semi formal night and the full suit on the formal night with the same oxford/tie. He had loafers that he wore every night, although his nice leather sandals would have been just fine. As for my dh, he owns a tux (it was cheaper to buy one on Ebay than rent one). So, he brought that for the formal night. A jacket and dockers for the semi formal night and khakis/golf shirts for the other nights. Again, he brought his loafers. My dd, age 6, just brought little sundresses and wore them every night with nice sandals. She took her Cinderella princess gown for the semi-formal night and wore her good "Easter Dress" for formal night. For us, a good rule of thumb is to wear what is considered "work casual" on the resort casual nights. Wear what you'd wear to Sunday morning church on the semi-formal and on the formal night, wear what you'd wear to an evening wedding clothes or Easter Sunday.

I'm very excited that I'm paying off our cruise today (well, putting it on the Disney Visa) so we'll be ready to make our Palo/Kids' Club/Spa ressies as soon as 90 days hits. Which isn't long from now!!!

With the ladies, you'll see all kinds of options. Pants suits, dressy slacks, long gowns on formal night, short cocktail or sun dresses, wrap around skirts...I'd say go with whatever you feel comfortable in yet not look like you're headed to the gym or beachside hot dog stand and you'll be fine.

Hi All,

I've seen many people suggest bringing your own beer on board. I can't imagine carrying a six pack around much less more than that.

Can I ship myself a package to the boat? I can imagine the additional shipping cost should still cost me less than buying beer aboard the boat.

I'm not much of a mixed drink drinker. Except for the occasional pitcher of killer Pina Colada's when I can hang around the house...

Can anybody tell my BIL (Bill) that he won't be bored on board? How do people pass their time when they aren't eating and he isn't interested in bingo.

I am paying off my cruise in a couple days as well. It will be nice to be able to register the kids for the clubs and all of that online. No waiting in that line at the port!!

David- I don't know about shipping a package to the port. I have read threads about this, but I don't remember what was said. Sorry! On the 4 night cruise we were on, we didn't have time to get bored. It would have been nice though! There is always something going on. Excursions, movies, dinners, swimming, shows, just hanging out in your room with room service, napping, the spa, the gym, there is just tons of stuff to do. For him only and for him with his kids.

BJ ~ Congrats on paying off the DCL Bill. My problem is that my "lifestyle" keeps generating new bills! Perhaps that has something to do with Chrystina ~ sha has never been a cheap date! Good thing she left for San Antonio this morning of I would get a whack for that.

David ~ Tell Bill that there is usually plenty to do. Just exploring the ship will take a day or so ... Shore excursions, dinner shows & such, movies. You can get everything done at a leisurely pace. Or you can watch folks running about trying to make sure that they don't miss anything. Especially the food!!! Me, I like the slow pace.

OR if all else fails, Watch DIDI get her butt kicked at cribbage.
