Sept 23, 2007 Wonder

Hi, Belle. Sounds like you'll be on the seas for awhile. Where in Ontario is Barrie? I'm originally from Michigan so I'm curious. My 21 year old daughter and our friend that will be with us are coming from Michigan, the thumb area to be exact. Port Huron, which is just across from Sarnia. Are you anywhere near there? 6 months from now we'll be out at sea!!! yay!!!
 :rotfl: :woohoo: :cool1:

I just have to post so I can see my ticker say 5+ months!

Oceanlvr- I WISH I could afford a suite! I can always dream :wizard:

Hi there I am about 60 miles north of Toronto. so not too close to Sarnia. About four hours from Detriot Michigan border. Looking forward to the cruises. Wonder how many have done what we are doing cruising on two different cruise ships one after another.

Well, looks like we're not alone. My MIL and FIL just joined us. All I know is that they're on an inside cabin on Deck 6.

This just got interesting...

P.S. If you think it doesn't matter when you book, or whether you rebook on board...we got our Cat 7 cheaper than their Cat 11, and that doesn't even include the stateroom credit...

Welcome, Belle! You will have the most sturdy set of sea legs on our cruise! I will add your information to our list that can be found on page 2 of this thread.

Sounds like things are really picking up here! We'll be at Disney World next week to pick up on some new attractions and smell some Florida air. I can't believe we're below the 6-month mark!

Just wondering how old everyone's kids are? Mine are Bella who just turned 7 and Cooper who is 4. I've seen threads where kids email each other so they have a friend when they get onboard so I was hoping Bella could do this. Anyone have a kid near that age? She's a total pink wearing tomboy who LOVES anything Hannah Montana and is not capable of letting 15 minutes go by without the mention of her.

Our kids are 20 (Stephen), 19 (Andrew), and 13 (Rebekah) - but none of them will be with us on this trip. There is part of me that is sad about that - and another... don't hate us for having that smug look on our faces ;)

BTW - we're in Florida right now for a week. We were nuts, but went to Disney for a couple of days observing wall-to-wall Easter-week meltdowns everywhere we went. We still had fun with some local friends of ours and our daughter. The weather is great here! Spent the day at Jacksonville beach while my son called to tell me that at home it was snowing. You people here in Florida don't know how good you've got it!

I can't wait until this September!

Pierresgirl: Our daughter Allison will be 7 (we are calling this her birthday cruise) and Our son Scotty is 3. It looks like our children will be spending time together in the Oceaneer Club.
Last May Allison loved the OC. Tonight she was talking about making cookies and flubber. It will be nice for Scotty to get the chance to enjoy it also. He spent some time in Flounders Reef so Mommy and Daddy could have some adult time and go to Palo's.

Dave:

I was watching the Disney marathon on Travel Channel this past Sunday, and they showed a guy and his son getting onto the Rock'N'Roller Coaster, and I was wondering if that was you. Kinda looked like the picture from your sig.

Just out of curiosity, who's doing what? Excursions, spa treatments, Palo, etc....

I think we're skipping the excursions this time, unless you count bike riding on CC as an excursion. (BTW, if you didn't read my trip report, avoid the Discover Atlantis excursion at all costs.)

Spa treatments - everything. Couples massage (onboard this time, not at CC. We'd rather spend that time in the heaven that is Serenity Bay,) she's getting a pedicure and maybe a manicure. She talked me into a manicure for me, and I'm going to spend a little bit of time in the Rainforest room just to try it out.

Palo's - dinner and brunch.

Going to Hercules and Disney Dreams. Went to Golden Mickey's last time.

Well, the Travel Channel did tape a week's worth of stuff on us - but I don't recall doing anything on the Rock-n-Roller Coaster. Most of our filming was done at the Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom.

So far we have not decided on what excursions to make. In Nassau I'd like to explore Paradise Island. I have been there once before, many moons ago when Atlantis was not dominating the skyline. Any suggestions?

We also want to do Palo on the night when dinner will rerun a location. I'm not really "into" spa treatments, but once I tell the lady of our plans, I'm going to ask if she'd like anything.

Our son will be 9 at the time of the cruise. He's looking forward to hanging in the lab on the ship simulator.

We plan on doing a couples massage on ship but not on CC this time. We'll most likely stay on the ship at Nassau - its our 19th anniversary so we'll head to Palo's for a nice meal while DS is in the lab.

DS made friends with Navardo who is the sand castle sculptor on CC. He's already told us he will be hanging w/ Navardo all day so DW and I will probably just relax and do some snorkeling.

Bob,

Any tips on when the best day is to go to Palo's? Also, I've read that it's a better idea to bring your own snorkeling equipment - any recommendations there?

Any day's a good day at Palo's. :thumbsup2 On our 7 day cruise, we did dinner on the last night - otherwise we would have been in AP for the 3rd time. I guess on the 4 day there will be one dinner restaurant that you go to twice, so I'd say plan on going one of those nights if possible.

On our other cruise, one of the DIS members actually arranged w/ DCL to book the private dining room for a DIS member brunch. Maybe if there was enough interest we could try to do something like that on this cruise?

For the snorkeling, I'd say bring your own gear if you don't mind carrying it. Or, if you want to rent, just do it when you get to CC. We rented gear beforehand thru the website and it was a waste of money. Between our son's desire to hang out on the beach and a rain storm that severely limited snorkel time for me and DW (we had to go to our cabana massage), we paid a lot for very little usage.

From my humble point of view, we'll plan on attending Palo on Tuesday night for multiple reasons:

1) It's the repeat night for the restaurants. Wherever we go on Monday is repeated on Tuesday, so if you're missing one for the ambiance, that would be the night probably. Also, Tuesday is pirate night and we have late seating for dinner. That's the only night we'd really rather go early, so we can make sure to catch the entire pirate party.

2) We actually went to Target just yesterday to price snorkeling equipment. $30 for a nice set there.

Five months from Monday! We're getting closer. We decided to do the snorkeling exursion in Nassau. All of the adults are going to Palo's fro brunch, too. My oldest wants to do Palo at night, but he'll be on his own because no one else wants to. My youngest daughter said she wants to stay on the ship while we're in Nassau. That will make things easier for us. Has anyone else made any plans?
 :yay: :cheer2:

We plan on staying on the ship while in Nassau too. The only thing we really have planned in reconnecting w/ Navardo who builds the sand castles on CC. Our son will spend the day with him while DW and I just relax.

Oh, and the day we're in Nassau DW and I will celebrate our 19th anniversary, probably by going to Palo's.

Thanks all for your thoughts about Palo. Let me make sure I understand - in our dining rotation (which we won't know until it's printed on our KTTK card?) - the "repeat" rotation is on Tuesday, which is the same night we're at Castaway Cay. Pirate night is also Tuesday - so if we don't want to miss out on that, we should do Palo's on Monday - right?

Whew - this is getting complicated!

Happy 5 months until we're packing to get on the boat!!!

Hi there, I'm always reading this board and finally decided to see if anyone started one for our dates and here you are!

I booked about 18 months ago, sad huh! Its myself (and my 37th b-day on board), DH 37, DS 8, DS 6 and my in-laws. We're in Room 8584, my in-laws are in a connecting suite. We're heading down from Boston on Saturday and staying at the port, then post cruise we are at the Beach Club. This will be a first cruise for all of us, and we CAN NOT WAIT, the serious countdown is on!

Looking forward to keeping up with this board.
