We are booked through Alamo. I checked with my car insurance and they do cover rental cars. So, do I need to bring proof of insurance with me? Or just my confirmation, DL and CC?

You dont need proof of insurance with Alamo. Just your confirmation number, coupons if needed, DL and CC. If you are not using coupons, check in online and go directly to the garage. If you are using coupons, then use the kiosk by the rental counter. Much quicker, less hassle, nobody trying to sell you upgrades, insurance etc.

I need a minivan There are 6 in our party... I'll check them out see what they are pricing for a minivan now.

I ended up with the best price from dollar...it was the city specials..minivan for 5 days $165 base price, $233 total. No one else can touch that for me - not even hotwire.

I'm using my Alamo insider ID, the Costco online code, and the AA online code. Can I check in online and go directly to the garage? No need to go to the kiosk?

WHOA. Alamo's rates went through the roof today! I have a minivan booked from 9/29-10/10 for $385 -- checked today (hoping for a drop) and it's well over $1k for the same dates with the same discount codes. Guess it's not dropping.

Not sure how we got so lucky. We reserved a mid size car with Alamo for 8 days and paid $155. When we picked out our car last Wed at 11:00 p.m. we found 2 minivans in the aisle. Love having the extra space.

Just checked my confirmation. It says US Air fall promo and then has an American Airlines valley discount on it.

Are both of those e-coupons? And if so, can I do online checkin?

Not knowing what you actually inserted in the boxes, it is impossible to know how to answer this question. I can say IF you used a coupon code in the coupon box, then you cannot check in online. You can use the counter or the kiosks (they are located in front of the counter) in the main terminal.

Dollar is $359 inc taxes if you click on city specials. If you need the additional driver then stick with Alamo.

I dropped mine $6 more dollars, and don't have to worry about the Costco Card.

Yes it is an e-coupon and you cannot check in online. You will need to use the counter or kiosk. Also, I am curious about the code you used. If you used 7015135, that is the Insider's Code and you cannot use that one unless you are an insider's member. You said AA code and that is not it.


Online Check-Insm is not available with reservations that contain the following:

•Reservation is more than 30 days in duration.
•Reservation is "On Request".
•Additional equipment such as child seat/toddler seat/infant seat or ski racks, etc. Rentals requiring additional
equipment must go to the rental counter.
•Coupon (including ecoupons) used with reservation.•Voucher used with reservation.
•Applicant Business Account Number used with reservation.
•Central Bill Number used with reservation.

I do hope this drops a little before we leave. I was hoping to rent for about $130... Standard car

The e-mail confirmation didn't say anything about an Insider's club.

Hotwire has some decent rates. 8 days for fullsize total $156.

I second this. We are going Sept. 17-24 and flying into SFB. I had Alamo reserved with the Costco id and the coupon for $30 off. My cost for a compact was $275.89 including taxes!

I checked Hotwire and got a quote for $151.31 for a full-size. Went with it and got Hertz.

I've used Hotwire before, had no problems.

Would suggest you look to see what's out there.

Has anyone seen much movement with National? We currently have a reservation 9/27-10/7 and ours came down a little this week, but not a whole lot, we are at $284 for a midsize with the KLM contract id. This is significantly higher than we have paid in the past. Could this be coming down further?
