Sept 2009

Staying Sept.23-30th @ ASMu. Is this a strange day to check-in? Will we get a bad room? We did get a perferred room. Anyone else doing this day?

I check in on a Wednesday too, I've only ever checked in on Thursdays before, I've never even thought it would affect the state of the room you get :confused3

We are checking in on a Wednesday also 9-9-09.
I have never had a problem no matter what day we check in on.
I think the 9-9-09 is kinda fun. Have a super vacation....WE are counting down the minutes..Or so it seems..HAHA All of our other vacations have been at Christmas time so this will be a first going in Sept

The Cast:
Me: ************* extrodinaire!
DH: Who has resigned himself to many vacations w/the mouse.
DS age 13.11mos at time of trip. Also a disfan, loves space mtn. everest and rocknroller best!
DD: age14, dev. delayed. Loves all things tink.
DS: age 11. He is what I will celebrate. He made state championship this year for 10 and older boys for his level in gymnastics! That was in the Spring, and we made trip plans then! He loves stitch.
we are staying from 9/5 until 9/10!

We will also be at POR! Our dates are: 9/18-27. My name is Nancy from Oklahoma, I am a Kindergarten teacher. My husband is a firefighter in Norman, Oklahoma. We have DS - 9, DD - 7 & DS 4. We love September! Yes it is HOT, but you cannot beat the crowd level. I am looking forward to meeting some fellow DISers! Yea:yay:

Where do you teach? We're in Norman! We'll be arriving on September 26, staying one night at SSR, then five nights at THV and two nights at BC!! So ready for vacation! From what I hear, it's "surface of the sun hot" in September, but other Okies have said it's not worse than August here, so I'm betting we can handle it. :thumbsup2

September sure is coming fast but not fast enough! We got all out dining reservations, added a day at the beginning of our trip to break up the drive, and I have rewritten my list now about 5 times (just 5???). Can't believe this trip is just around the corner? Since we added a day at the beginning (no park tickets for that day though), anyone recommend a good seafood restaurant in Orlando (staying at BV Suites for one night) that's not too pricey?:surfweb:

So, does anyone recommend a restaurant outside of the parks, maybe resorts area, that we can celebrate my father-in-laws birthday at?? There will be 12 of us, including 3 toddlers and an infant. So it needs to be kid friendly without being just about the kids since we are celebrating my FIL's birthday. Although my family will be doing the whole Disney Parks experince, my SIL's family only plan to go to 2 parks and mainly want to stay around the house we are renting especially since they will have an almost 7 month old at the time. So I am looking for a restaurant outside of the parks so they don't need to buy admission if it's a day they weren't planning on going to the parks. So any recommendations would be appreciated it. Thanks!

Myself and my future hubby will be @ SSR from 9/25-10/3!

Woo hoo!!
Can't wait!!
Any other couples interested in meeting up, give me a shout!! :cheer2:

There's a wonderful fondue place just off International Drive called The Melting Pot (http://meltingpot.com/). Lots of fun, and the kids would probably have a ball dunking and cooking their own food. (Of course, supervision is required, so may be more than you bargained for!).

You could also go to any of the restaurants at the various resorts; this doesn't require admission and they are all kid-friendly. If you're looking for something signature, try Jiko's at the Animal Kingdom Lodge or California Grill at the Contemporary (you can also watch Wishes from there).

There are also all of the restaurants along CityWalk near Universal; no theme park admission required. http://www.universalorlando.com/citywalk/restaurants-club-comparison.html. And of course, there are the restaurants in Downtown Disney.

Happy birthday to your FIL, and have fun!

Thanks so much for the suggestions! My husband and I are actually going to California Grill for our anniversary (day before FIL's birthday) for dinner. Our one chance to be alone on the trip. LOL!

After speaking with FIL and SIL's family, FIL said he wanted Chinese. So I made reservations to Ming Court off International Drive. Based it on recommendations from Frommer's. Has anyone eaten here? Is it good? The website looks great and it looks large that it should have no problem with our party size.

Anyway, thanks again snykymom for your suggestions!

There are nine of us. We will check in on Wed Sept 16-22nd at POP Century. I remember looking at this resort when they were first building it. Now I can't wait to stay there. I can't wait to go back to WDW. Has everyone gotten their ADR's? I got all but one. But I am still happy!

My daughter booked a trip to POR 9/20-9/26 for her kids. The boys don't know about it yet.

What she doesn't know is I and my younger daughter booked the same dates at the same resort, arriving later in the day. Knowing her schedule, we plan to greet them at Ol' Man Island after dinner on Sunday. Has anyone else done something like this, and how well did it work out.

I'm doing the same thing only will be surprising granddaughters (ages 7 &3):cool1:. They know their Grandma Jane will be joining them but don't know Mimi will be there too! We're arriving 9/15 (they'll be arriving 9/12 and meeting other friends for a few days) and they will be at HS that day. I plan to call DD when I arrive at HS and find out where they are and will just be "hanging around" to see if they spot me! Can't wait to see the look on their faces!:yay:

It will be awesome. We surprised my parents in Dec. They thought it was just the two of them for a week. I made all their reservations and gave them all the adr confirmation #. When they arrived at Ohana for dinner 10 of us were there to surprise them. The look on their faces still make us smile today.

We are at the 42 day mark now and getting more and more excited! Last year it was 9 of us, all family. This year our group has grown to 13 with 5 of them being kids! Also it's mostly friends, the exception being my brother and his family. I made countdown calendars for the kids with their favorite characters on them.

9/5 will be here before we know it!!!!

Hello everyone, I have not read all the posts yet, just to many for me to read at this time.

We are also going in Sept. Sept 20-Oct 1 to be exact. We started out as a party of three, a mother/daughter trip with my 77 yr old mother, myself and my 21 yr old daughter. Well, things evolved and we added a house guest to our family, so then the house guest decided to go, I requested a 2nd room, got it and then we were a party of 4. Then we got a discount on the room from a pin I received in the e-mail, then we got free dining. So really saving on the cost. Then my teen son started making noises about how he wanted to do the rides and all, and I decided to see if we could still get free dining for him, well we did, so cost to add him to the deal was only around $300. So now our little group of 3 in one room is now a group of 5 in two rooms.

We will be staying at Pop Century, although I have stayed in a couple of the All Stars, we have never done Pop before but totally looking forward to the experience. I have gotten all my ADR's that I wanted, tickets to MNSSHP, even booked a tour I thought my mother would enjoy. All is in ready just waiting for the days to pass so we can start the drive to Florida. We have just a tad less than 60 days to go!

...that's what I'm looking forward to ..."the look on their faces" that will make me smile when I remember it!:yay:
