Sept 2009

We will going on our very first trip (well, I was there in 1975) 9/21-10/1 and staying at FW Cabins. I'm wishing the summer away until September!!!

Going for our first time on site at the BLT - very excited

Looking forward to Kim Possible for my twins and a friend (also 8) and Playhouse disney for the little ones and a Wishes Cruise for me :cloud9:

Have you tried calling T-Rex directly? You may have more luck doing that (they're not Disney-owned, to they can do their own ressies, too). Their number is 407-828-8739. When I called them, I was basically able to name my time (that was before 90 days out, though). Good luck!

Thank you,Thank you,Thank you my husband has just phoned the T-rex directly and they had the day and time we wanted...yipeee

Thanks again for your top advice:banana:

Hi all! We're in the finalization stages with my TA, but I figured I'd jump on in!

My name is Sarah and I'm going to Disney with my best friend, Margaret. We're both married women, in our early 30s, and we're both leaving our (moderately) relieved husbands to make this trip!

I'm flying out on 9/17 and she's flying on 9/18 and we're staying through 9/21 at POR (our second time there, and my third - I squeezed in a trip with my husband ;)).

So far, we have ADRs at:
9/18: San Angel Inn (dinner)
9/19: 50s Prime Time (dinner)
9/20: California Grill (dinner)

I've never eaten at any of them, so why not! :)

I'm really looking forward to this trip. Friday the 19th, my boss had the nerve ( - sort of) to turn down my time off request for my annual concert trip I make with my husband. Monday the 21st, I had a root canal. Also on Monday, my favorite band in the whole world's label pulled all tour support, so the OTHER concert I was supposed to see in Chicago - well, they're not on it any more. Cancel another trip! Friday the 26th, I had knee surgery (and I'll know in 6 weeks if I need another). I deserve this, darnit! :)

...and I have a supportive husband who says "go, go, have fun!"

Hi there!

I haven't had a chance to read through all the posts, but I promise I will!

My name is Nancy. DH and I are high school sweethearts and have been married for 14.5 years. We have three kids who are DS 12, DS 8 and DD 3. We are traveling with my MIL. We will be staying at POP 9/14-9/19, after a few days in Ft Lauderdale with my BIL and SIL at their home. We live in Middlesex County, NJ.

I am so excited to be going and I am secretly working on my window and door decorations. My Mom and one sister know I plan on decorating but no one traveling in our party knows!

:thumbsup2 So glad I could help! It made my day to know that I was able to help someone...thanks for letting me know it all worked out :goodvibes

So I can't believe I'm under the 90 days mark. I want to make reservations for a character meal, hopefully before the park opens. What time does the parks usually open? I know I may be too late for some days of my trip but hoping I can still call to get in for one day on our trip. We will have 12 people in our party if you include the kids. Does anyone recommend one for us? Right now I think I'm down to Chef Mickey's and the Tusker House.

I would call or go online and check RIGHT NOW!!! With free dining going on, and you being under your 90 days mark, it may not be a matter of which one people recommend, but rather which one actually has any openings. You'll probably be better off if you ask for odd times to eat, and you may have to break your party into smaller groups. Good luck...I hope it all works out! ;)

Hello!!

This is my first post after lurking on many trip reports and dining reports. I will be visiting Sept 26 - Oct 3 with my DH, DS11 and DS9. It will be our third family trip (May 2005 and Dec 2007) but first time at POFQ. Also first time with free dining. We love the DDP and would not go without it. Trying some new restaurants this time as the character meals have mostly been done and with boys, the characters are repetitive.

You were so right, with our huge party size (12), pretty much nothing was available for breakfast. I'm about to call in 10 minutes today to try to get one character breakfast for just my family as we are staying a day longer but it would have been nice to had one with the whole family. I just can't believe I blanked and missed my 90 day mark. I forgot about the free dining plan going on too. Thanks though.

I'm so happy now!!! I just called this morning to try again to see if I can get in for a character breakfast for the whole family and based on wvdislover's suggestion on splitting our party I was able to get into Crystal Palace before the park opens! Nice! I'm so excited now!!!

Also, I made anniversary dinner reservations at the California Grill for my hubbie and I. I don't know if I should tell him that they are right when the fireworks start or surprise him. What do you guys think? Also has anyone had dinner there before? If so how's the food? I loved the idea of being able to see the park and fireworks so even if the food is okay I think the experience will be memorable.

Hi,
One more quick question.....Has anybody gone there for Labor Day Weekend?
How are the crowds?.......Thanks

Actually it looks like we are all going around the same time.

Are any of you guys doing MNSSHP?? We did last year and it was GREAT!!!!

Yep, going to the party on 9/29. Six days at GF 9/28-10/03. Can't wait and I earned MAJOR boyfriend points by booking this trip! ;)

Congrats on getting CP - you should have fun!

We ate at California Grill in January. The food was quite good. The flatbread appetizer is huge! Just remember that only about 1/3 of the tables in the restaurant face the MK and the Castle. The rest are on the other sides of Contemporary. We were at a non-MK table. We just ordered, went outside to watch Wishes (they'll tell you how to get there) and then came back in, and our appetizers came out about 2 minutes later. We had a great time.

No, we don't have free dining because we're staying off site. Would have loved to stay at the resort but there's 4 families going and the kids are 3 and younger. So we figured it would be easier to have a big house the kids can run around in. Plus my SIL does not plan to go to all the parks. She will have a 7 month old with her so she only wants to see 2 parks.

The only other character meal I made reservations for was for the one at Hollywood & Vine but just for my family since my boys do like Little Einsteins. I may make more reservations for just my family but I have to wait and see what the other families want to do first. I seem to be the only one really interested in planning ahead. Everyone else don't really care. But I think we plan to do quick service plan for the most part.

Anyway, Thanks again so much for the recommendation!

Happy to hear that the food is good there. When I made the reservations she did mention there was a observation deck we could see the fireworks from if we didn't get a table with a view. That's cool that things worked out for you. Can't wait to go now! :)
