DH and I are planning Sept 21-28. It will depend on the AP availability as to which resort we stay at.

Good evening everyone! My family is booked at AKL CL for Sept 1-12, 2009. We are so excited to be going back, and I am hoping for a nice discount such as free dining to save a little money with the Canadian $ slipping the last couple months. My husband, myself, and our 2 boys who will be age 13 and 17 at the time of travel will be joining us. We are meeting up with family friends who have never been before. We will be touring with them "commando" style for our first few days as they are only there with us for the 2,3,4 and 5th of Sept. A Park a day to start! We will be rushing for sure... but then we will have 6 more days to cool things down abit and take it easier after they leave. I would love to join this thread and keep an eye out for a discount. Thanks for "listening"

Too Funny, just an update since I went back to start reading this thread from the beginning... What did I see, but it seems that I posted back on the second comment on this thread when it opened back in July!! I have not kept up very well, have I ,LOL.... I noticed on the list that my user name was wrong, though... it said Chimozu... "the letter Z" instead of the numeral 2. Is there a way to update that .... oh and it is official, I am now confirmed for AKL Club level for the dates of Sept.1-Sept 12. I was unsure back in July what the end date of our vacation would be. Thanks for the help clearing this up!

I want free dining (upgraded to Deluxe) so I am off to sign up for a Disney Visa. Will the free dining make reservations harder to get? If we can't go to The Crystal Palace and Cinderella's dinner then I am going to cry! Have already been practicing making my reservations at 6am some day!

Probably not. I just heard that you get offered the free dining sooner if you have the card and I was planning on getting one anyway.

If you want Sept., and want to be sure, aim for the middle week.
We were there Sept. 16 - 20 something last year.
Crowds were low, getting the free dining didn't affect our getting hotel ressies, though I DID have a Disney Visa, and DID call first thing that first day.
As far as ADRs go...pick your week, and start calling at 180 days out, even if it's before the sale hits (if you already have hotel ressies, you can link them to that) and you should have NO problem getting what you want.
Even if you wait until you get the sale, you will still have a pretty good chance at all your ADRs.
Know what you want before you call, and which days and times, and you will make your life and the life of your CM much easier.

They were amazed and happy that I knew EXACTLY what I wanted and when I wanted it. LOL [I'm obsessive compulsive about Disney Planning. What can I say? LOL]

If there is something that is harder to get, start with that one. [Cinderella's, Le cellier, or Chef Mickey's for example]

Even if you wait until a few weeks, you will have no problem getting ADRs, but you might have to be very flexible with your times, places, and preferences. A lot of people don't know about the sale, and even if they do, they don't realize they have to make ADRs.

We're hoping for Free Dining again also, so right there with you in pre-planning and preparation!

We are planning for Sept. 11-20. We usually go in the summer. This year we went in November. We loved the low crowds, but it was just a little too cold for us. So we want to try September.

Disney CFO: Theme park bookings improving


CHICAGO (MarketWatch) -- Walt Disney Co. (dis) Chief Financial Officer Tom Staggs said advanced bookings at its theme parks and resorts are down by about 6% in the first and second fiscal quarters, an improvement over the 10% decline the company was anticipating at the end of the September quarter. Staggs attributed the improvement to a discount offer. "It's clear in this economy that the consumer is being cautious, and is being careful about where they're spending," he said, speaking at a UBS conference in New York that was Webcast.

my stay is similar to yours.
right now i have the bounce back promo booked but looking to change it for a better deal.

if a code comes out, you can use it as long as it is within the dates.
last year the code carried over to early october.

i signed up for the oct watch thread also in case i need both months codes.

generally, the october codes start up in mid october or 3rd week of october.
the sept codes have been carrying over thru the 6 or 7th of october.

Count us in! I am thinking Sept 18th-26th. We went in November this year and it just wasn't the same. I would love free dining!
