SEPT 2009 code watch

The 40% works out better for our small family of 2. We saved around 950.00 on lodging. I then calculate what the DDP plan would cost us for 10 days.
Not anywhere CLOSE to what the DDP would cost us....

Please forgive me if I missed this being covered already - but is the 40% off a room only pin? I keep reading how everyone says to compare the FD with the 40 promo to see which one is more coast effective... does that mean I can't get a package (with dining) for the 40% off?

THANKS!

Mine was not a pin, but a bounce back offer while I was still at WDW.
I am reading BB w FD, not sure if the BB is the FD or a 40% and FD. :confused3

I got the 40% offer in the mail.

It IS room only. But usually you can book a package with it.
The discount will be off the cost of the room ONLY.
The dining, tickets, etc. will be full price.

If you book 40%, you'd have to rebook with free dining and drop the 40% if you want the free dining.
I've toyed with booking the 40% and then changing it BUT I'm not because:
1) I'm not sure we can afford the dining if it's not free, so we probably would have to postpone our trip
2) If the 40% does well, they might not offer the free dining, or not as good a plan.

For us (family of 9) the free dining is the better offer.
Actually, if you go during value season, and stay at a value resort,
you are saving around $40,
and unless you are only one person travelling and staying in that room,
the free dining would always be a better deal.
[Moderates are close, deluxes seem to be better with the 40%]

Sept. is brutal for heat and humidity, BUT, you only have to pack summer clothes, and you don't have to worry about snow. :thumbsup2

We have been for free dining in both Aug. and Sept. It was hot both times, maybe a bit wetter out in Sept. Attendance seemed lower the end of Sept. than the end of Aug.

The week after the U.S. Thanksgiving used to be very light, but I have been seeing pictures and reports from the beginning of Dec. that showed a pretty good crowd. Not sure what the official statistics are.

Of the times we have gone (early Feb., late Aug., late Sept.) February was the best for crowds, then Sept., then Aug.

I was there in Sept. of '07, so I'm sure there are others that have been this past Sept., but if anyone has any questions I can answer, I'm happy to help! :wizard:

That is great info! WE just got back from a mid Dec vacation. It was pretty busy, but I have nothing to really comare it to. I thought about Feb or Jan, but the snow up here wouldn't permit us to drive the 7 hrs to a US airport for the cheap airfare. We really want to stay at the COntemporary. Not that we are made of money, but the monorail would be great with a 3 and 4 year old. We did ASmo, which was fine, just so many bus trips. With afternoon naps, it was just so much time! So I would LOVE this code. Oh how I would love it. Thought about the free dining. It would save us roughly $350. Based on what we ate this past stay. We really watched our meals and did CS with 2 character meals which I doubt we would do again. Great food and great time, just too much $$. I'd rather the money to go into the resort. Im not a huge one for heat neither. It was about 85 when we were there, it was beautiful, and not over the top hot. That is about what our summers are here. I assume Sept would be hotter? I don't mind the rain too too much. I know that it would pass at some point. But being hurricane season, I might give my grandmother a nervous break down. lol
This code, is it good up to December of this year?

I am going solo in May and saved $271 on the 4/3! Now in September we are all going (9 of us) then FD would be a better deal especially as we are thinking of upgrading FD to DD! I think with the econpmy we may see some decent discounts!!

hey Englishrose!!! We are trying for free dining, but 1st we have lots of other personal stuff to accomplish. It will be a springtime decision for us!

We would wanna stay at ASsports or movies, or even better-upgrade to CB! We'll see...

Lori

Hi all! We are also planning a stay in Sept. Pretty sure that I have decided on the 19-28th at a value resort.

My cast includes: me - cp alum 99, DH (been there once in 99), SDD,13; DS 9; DD 8; DS 4; and possibly my mom & dad and bro and SIL all of whom have never been.

This is a HUGE trip for us and we plan on driving the 18 hr trip straight thru to cut costs on airfare (hoping gas prices stay low)

I love all the discussion and it looks like a large prilgramage will be taking place this summer. That's great...but also bad, because I really dislike lines. Do you think that FD and bounceback offers will make Sept an overly crowded place to be?

I'm typically a more the merrier personality, but since its been 10 YEARS since I last set foot on property I wanna be selfish and have the place to myself, or at least as much as possible  ;)

Of course always looking for discounts too, will be subscribing. TY

Please add us to the Sept code watch!
Were going as a grand gathering and I've taken the role on as being the Ta, since I'm disney obessed:)
As of now we have the AAA discount but are secretly banking on free dinning as there are 12 of us! Were all staying at different hotels. My DH, myself, DS(5), and 9 month old boy/girl twins are staying at CSR. My in-laws and sister-in-law, nephew and df are all staying at POFQ. My brother-in-law and DG are staying at Pop. Were going from 9/19-9/27.
I saw someone mention about the UK being offered the CS to the moderate and basic to deluxe and nothing to the values. I surely hope this is not true for the the US but if it helps alleviate any stress the UK only offered free dinning to I believe deluxes last year possiably moderates as well but nothing to the values and we were offered FD to all resorts in the states. So...... let's hope for the best! Also another good thing for us is that they did offer bounceback for sept 09 so thats a good sign!

Hey Tabatha, it seems like all the low seasons are busier than they used to be due to all these great promos. I really think the only time you can go to the parks and have that "all to yourself" feeling is in mid January. I have not been in Se-pt for free dining, but from what everyone says, it is busier than it used to be. My favorite month to be there so far, is October at the end. But maybe that has changed too! I am still hoping to try free dining-no matter the crowds. I am even thinking of making ADR's even though we haven't made ressies yet. The restaurants are much busier sine the DDP has been around and getting more popular. We used to be able to walk in places and the past 3 times, it has not been that easy! We are not usual DDP people-but I am willing to try out the hoopla for free!

Lori

PS- how is it ever better to use the 40% off rather than free DDP unless there are less than 3 in a party? Even on values, you get , say $40 off your room, but DDP for 2 is >$60. So, am I right in saying it is better to get free DDP even for 2 adults on the DDP? It seems to be $20 more off the top per day. I am truly curious... my brian isn't functioning well this week anyway!

That is funny, we did Pop in Feb(when you did, I thought you were on the Feb 08 thread too) and we did NOT like it as much as ASmovies and ASsports. It's funny how we all have our faves! But we will not be going back to Pop-cute as it was!

Sounds like fun with all your family and friends too! We have always gone with others, so the next time we DO go, DH wants it to be just us 4. Of course, we have freinds going at the same time we are thinking of going, but we'll wave and say high and maybe spend a few rides together, but we need an on our own trip!

Lori TY for the reply. The attendance will not deter us from making plans. Iv'e done some math and it looks like even with 2 rooms the DDP plan will be better than the 40%. I'm looking at the QS plan (:wizard: hope that its offered free), because my family has never been big sit down eaters, opting to be more "snackers" PLus I like the idea of not being tied down to reservations.

Anyways here's to a great NY and an awsome vacation in September!!! :grouphug:

Tabatha-

That is why we have never done the DDP-we are not big eaters in WDW. I do not like to be tied down to 'times' pulling me away from my fun! I think they have only done DDP for free(the standard). But, I am willing to try anything once:laughing: . I think b/c we have been blessed enough to have gone 4-5 times in the past 7 years, I will not mind being tied down to ADR's too much for ONE trip. We are 'eat breakfast in our room, lunch out of a backpack(no line waits), eat out once a day and at table service maybe 2x a trip' type family. But I have heard that it is hard to NOT have DDP after you have had it already;) .

I am hoping and praying for some financial blessings this year-my DH was laid off a few weeks back, but I think it was a blessing in disguise!

Lori

Tabatha and Braxtonsmon03 welcome to the Sept club. I have added you to the list on page 1. Daleswife I changed your dates for you.

Lori, sorry to hear about your husbands job loss. I work as a staffing specialist and my job is to try and find jobs for others. Hopefully your right and it is a blessingin disguise, but if your family needs any help or advice I am happty to help with any info I can give. (interview strategies, resume critics etc..)

Your family sounds alot like mine. eating is too much work when there are so many other fun things to do!! If I would let my kids they would live on Ramon Noodles.

Thank you Tabatha-that is soo sweet. He is in audit/compliance. It IS a blessing, or will be. No matter what or how it happens, we have faith that something better is around the bend!

Lori

I should probably change my screename since I now have boy/girl twins and it dosent seem fair;) My newest additions names are Gracie layne & Grant joseph. Braxton is Braxton Edward(after my husband).
