Sept 2008- how bad have the love bugs been?

We started vacation 9/22. We didn't see any until 9/26 in AK. I thought to myself, "ah, lovebugs like to hang out in AK!" Well, 9/27 in EPCOT there were more of them and by 9/28 they were everywhere. We just got back and I'm happy we were leaving those bugs behind.

I know they don't bite but they are just everywhere! They don't come and go like flies and you can't really shoo them away. They just coast along and get stuck to you. Don't like them very much.

From what we saw on 9/27 I couldn't agree more! No they don't bite - but at WDW you are outside the majority of the time....it's no fun dealing with the bugs all day....tip to those heading down. DO NOT WEAR WHITE. They like the lighter colors. We saw on Captain of a friendship boat whose nice white uniform was covered in the dead critters.

We just returned from our trip from 9/20-9/27. We did not notice any lovebugs until 9/24. Each day from there they got worse and worse!!!

We were at WDW from Sept 17-27, and I agree with the previous post. Around the 25th I noticed them, and then every day after that, they were all over. Ew. But whatever, I was in DISNEYWORLD!!!! (It was our first trip, and NOTHING could have ruined it!!!!!) :D

We were there 9/20-27. Didn't notice them until Tuesday the 23rd in AK, not bothersome then. But by Friday at DHS - they were more apparent. Particularly in sunny spots - stroller parking - especially checked to make sure cleanup/out before kids sat down. Still a good time - but they were noticable...... bleeeech!

Just curious about these love bugs. Booked for next year bounceback with FD for 9/26-10/07. Is it like this the same weeks every year. Not sure if I should re-schedule for starting the trip a week earlier. Any suggestions from past experiences or for those of you who live in the area? Since they don't sting, I would not be overly concerned but I will be travelling with 2 DGD's who will be 3 at the time. One of them does NOT like bugs at all. I was there 9/10-9/20 this year and did not see any at that time. Stayed at my mom's in Deland for a few days following the trip but did not see any there before leaving on 9/25.

We were in WDW from 9/19 to 9/25 and only saw a few "sets" of them...nothing AT ALL that was bothersome....none in our room or on our door as I had heard they like to hang out.

Looks like we left just in time! ;)

haha they are every where we just got back monday and they were all over the place. but they arnt bad once you get used to them..we have them at home all the time..its just a suck up and get over it part of disney world

I believe the lovebug seasons in the WDW area are late Sept - early Oct and June.
