Sept 2007 My Affair w/Mickey -- Complete!

Thank you for the warm welcome TrentMom and Disneymommom. I apologize, I don't respond as often as Marshay. I have been to Disney World. The first time I was 12, and then a few trips as a teenager. I was able to visit DisneyLand many times because my husband's family is from the Los Angeles area. We also went to Disney and stayed at the Carribean on our honeymoon almost 15 years ago. ( We are working on a cruise for our 15th next April.) Any suggestions for cruising??? Our last trip to DW was in 2004 with my parents and Marshay's family. It was a great time. We are hoping that 2009 is the magical year for all of us to get together at least some of the time. We hope to stay at Boardwalk or Beach Club.;)

Side note: Where did the Keep Singing nickname come from? Think Disney!
Any guesses?

The only cruise I've ever been on was the Carnival Cruise on the Fantasy ship. It was fantastic and I would highly recommend it to anyone. We went to Grand Turk, Half Moon Cay and Nassau. I wasn't crazy ab out Nassau but then it wasn't a good beach day and my DH didn't want to leave the area of the ship so we only went a few blocks and went shopping a little. I wanted to go in the jewelry stores as it's supposed to be cheap there but he didn't want to spend money on jewelry :confused3

TrentMom, yes I thought of a Disney Cruise but it was almost double the price. Rats! I would love to do a Disney cruise, but since I have never cruised I would take any cruise I can get.
The original line in the movie I believe was "Keep Singing!" by a loud masculine like broad. By the way, Barbie doesn't have anything to do with the movie but another nickname by my volleyball team.
If you plan for DL, let me know, maybe I can be of assistance? You must eat at In and Out Burgers, they are cheap and homemade. No one that's a local eats at Mc D's when they can have the best homemade burgers, fries and shakes!:upsidedow

Another hint about cruises, go on their web sites and look for them within a few weeks of when you want to go. If you can plan last minute things its the best way to go cheap. We went on the Carnival Cruise for $350 each because we booked at the last minute. A lot of cruise ships have some rooms available and they don't want to sail with any empty rooms as it costs them the same to sail but if there are more people on the ship there is a better chance they will buy alcohol and souvenirs, which is money for them.

Thanks Disneymommom for your input and advice. Did you have an ocean view room or inside room? Did you have single beds or queen size beds? It seems foolish to spend our anniversary vacation with single beds. I'm getting too old for the challenge! (Remember Marshay, when our aunt and uncle would sleep in my single bed when they visited us. I don't know how they did it. Lots of snuggling, I guess.) My DH says we don't want a room near the elevator, too loud and lots of traffic. Were you near the elevator? Any thoughts?

Marshay, am I going to get kicked off for changing your Disney thread? I do want to hear more of your story. Start writing or Disney cruises will be the next 50 threads- ha-ah:rotfl2:

Glad to offer some suggestions Barbie! We had an inside room, and I believe they push your twin beds together or so it seemed, in any case we had one bed for us both. The rooms are very small but hey how much time do you spend in your room anyway with all that food and the ocean view from up on the decks? We only showered, changed and slept there and then were back out.The entertainment was great most nights and they have lots of activities if you want to be involved or you can do your own thing! It was one of the best vacations and I had the best time. I enjoyed eating at the buffet rather than the fancy dinner every night, that was okay but it puts you with people you may or may not like. We had a few nice people at our table but this one guy was such a jerk that we couldn't stand being in his company. We persevered for the formal night but after that we ate at the buffet. You can have food 24/7 on those ships, lose weight before you go because you will definitely gain it back on the ship, LOL. :rotfl2:

DisneyMommom, can I ask more questions since Marshay must be sleeping?
What port did you leave from? Did you have any problems at port? Was that a seven night cruise you were on? Did you prefer the first or second seating for dinner?popcorn:: It sounded like the "jerk" liked to hear himself talk. Who said Bullys were only in schools?

Of course you can! We left out of Port Canaveral in FL. We had no problems at all leaving from there. We drove to FL and stayed at a local hotel there. Most of them are affiliated with the Ramada, which has a huge parking lot not far from the port and it's free parking there while you are on the cruise. We did a 5 day cruise and it was just about the right length of time. 3 days is too short, you barely get settled and you have to leave so either 5 or 7 is the best! We were going to take another one out of Galveston TX also but we didn't get the chance, we bought a new camper and so cruises are put on hold for a few years.

We preferred the 2nd seating for dinner. The first seating was too early and this way you can really get a full day, then go back to your room, even take a nap if you want, get showered dressed and go up on deck for dinner.

The guy was a jerk who liked to hear himself talk. No matter what we discussed he knew more about it, had one better than it, had been there before, etc. You know the type!

Hey Singing Barbie, getting off for a while, going to make dinner and then will be on later tonight so if you have any more questions, just go ahead and post them and I;ll answer them later.

OK, I must interrupt this Disney report to show off a bit! I took a craft class at Recollections yesterday and made this Haunted House. I have never tried to make one of these before -- now I think I'll have to try one on my own.

It took us 4 hours to do (paint, make the clay pumpkins, add the metal steeple and decorate).

Now I have to get an electric/battery tea lamp to put in it. DD loves it and doesn't understand why I won't let her play with it by herself!

Commercial huh? Are your services for sale? :rotfl:

Oooooh, tell me what happened with DLMama???

Yeah, I knew my DIS buddies would understand...

Oh...if you're not on her TR...read it! It's not as good as yours...of course...but very funny! ;)

DL sat by the castle winners at Cindy's Castle. They didn't even care that they won or really know what it was. They weren't even that excited! :faint: Crazy people are everywhere!!!

Thanks Keep Singing.

I am totally clueless when it comes to DL...I would be starting from scratch, and that make me nervous.

When the time comes, I will be looking to you for help...THanks:goodvibes

I know from reading ahead now, that iwas Ursula who said that, but I have not watched that move in a long time, so I didn't remmeber that... Great Trivia question:thumbsup2

Marshay...Wheare you you???:rolleyes1

I'm here...I did another spooky house over the weekend...will post pics...then did scrapbooking with my mom friends...then very sadly found out that the place we we scrap, shop and take the classes (Recollections) is going out of business. The powers that be decided to close down all the Recollections nationwide (official annoucement will be on Wed)

Whaaaaaaaaa!

Also, looks like baby #2 will be a little longer...we'll try again but this time we're going to another doctor (actually the one we used on DD)

I have to upload the pics tonight for next day.

Can't wait to see pics of your new spooky house. DD mus love them

SO sorry your scrapbooking place is closing. Hope you can find somewhere else to go:goodvibes

I am so sorry it didn't take this time. That is a good idea to go back to the dr that made your dd happen:love:

So, now that we are not pregnant...this may change our plans for WDW next year...

Here are our two choices...which do you think would be better? We are now leaning toward #1:

1) Go to WDW in early May at potentially 6 months pregnant (or less) and DD is still free for dining and tickets. Flower and Garden Show, weather may be less warm than September but more crowds. We may be able to overlap times when my parents will be there again.

OR

2) Go to WDW in early September with potentially a 2 month old and we now have to pay for DD's food and ticket. However, there won't be as many people..weather is warm. Great specials on airfare and rental cars. Little Ones Magic Hour. (Free dining isn't an option for DVC).

I think the hours are generally the same in both seasons and I don't think we would be doing MNSSHP.

I vote for early may

We went May 6-13 last year and May 8-15 this year and it was awesome

Weather was nice, not too hot. FLowers at Epcto were gorgeous and made for some awesome pics..

The crowds were very low for us the whole week:thumbsup2

here is a pick from Epcot for you:

Sorry about the no baby news Marshay. I know it will happen when the time is right!!! Maybe the new or should I say old doctor, will be "just what the doctor ordered!"

Sorry your favorite place, Recollections, is closing. I hate when that happens!
