I'll answer part of this one...get this -- my parents are taking my sister and her family to WDW in 2009 -- but I had already told my DH we could skip WDW that year b/c he really wants to go to Aruba. Part of us agreeing to get the DVC was that we wouldn't do Disney EVERY year (I know, I know -- sacrilege to me but although DH likes Disney, he wants to do something else too).

I'm secretly hoping that we'll be able to join them, maybe not for the full week but for a long weekend...or maybe just me (with or without the kiddos)... But until they work out their dates (they have to go in summer since they are both teachers), I'm not dropping any hints to DH yet (unless, of course, he is lurking on here...):rolleyes1

That is very nice of your parents/

Guess you have to sacrifice to what yo uwant, which was the DVC, so it is all goodl

I hope you get to at least joing them for the weekend. That would be fun, I am sure:goodvibes

Does your DH have an acct on here??

I don't think so but I did send him the link to our TR in case he wanted to view it...however, that was right after we got back and he hasn't made any comments -- like correcting me if I got something wrong! :rotfl: So I think I'm safe...

Ok, got to get this posted before the 12:20am slow time comes up (DIS always seems to take longer to post around this time...)

Chapter 7a - Haircut

Today is Wed., Sept 19th. MK has their LOMH (Little Ones Magic Hour) where Fantasyland is open 1 hour early and the characters play with children (no autographs, no pictures).

Well, we wake up and the forecast is LOUSY --- Potential Tropical Storm, tons of rain (1-2"), wind -- YUCK. DH thought I would take a look at the forecast and say -- Sleep In!:cloud9:

But, nope...I'm thinking -- no crowds!! And we were absolutely right.

I forget how long it takes to get to MK -- first we drive the parking lot, then take monorail to MK, then walk down and around the entrance, bag check, tickets -- finally we are in.

However, let me backtrack -- in the parking lot, I had my 1st WDW DIS Meet. As we were unloading our gear, a woman in the car next to us, says -- I see your green Mickey! Yeah! Her name is Oceania but I haven't met her on the DIS yet. I give her my LGMH (hey, where's mine in return :sad2: ) and see that she has already collected several LGMH on her keychain -- cool!

Since it is raining, we are all in ponchos but the park is really empty. The characters are mostly undercover (the exit of PhilHarmagic) which is quite a small space to hang out. But DD sees Pluto, Wendy and Mickey Mouse up close. She goes up to Mickey and he "tousles" her head with his hand and, she squeals and runs giggling back to me. However, after that, she won't go back over to him again.

So we ride Peter Pan and Pooh (yes, for those that know me, I'm, how shall we say it, not a fan of Winnie the Pooh, but I do enjoy taking my DD on the ride). We walk right on -- I have never done that in my life!

So far the rain is really nothing -- enough to keep your poncho on or use an umbrella, but that's it.

Off to the barbershop, where there are only 2 girls ahead of us already in the chairs. They are getting all kinds of goop and pixie dust in their hair. However, I understand that the goop takes about 7 hours to dry and now they can't wear their hat or poncho on their head and they didn't have umbrellas either...I can't imagine it ever dried that day...

While we are waiting, we snap a few shots.

DD covered in stickers -- do ya think she like this? That's me in the mirror

As long as DD had her spinning light up Mickey Ears, she was content to sit still. We ended up getting this cool toy at DTD for her.

DD needed a little help when Janet (the barber) did her bangs. As you'll see Janet did not get them straight either! :rotfl:

The final result (look the hair on her sides is all one length now, well, mostly!)

So after the haircut, the rain has really started to taper off...woo hoo!! We decide to go over to PoC...on the way, I see a man in a uniform, with clipboard, etc. My family wants to just breeze by him but I know better -- this is a member of the Dream Team. He asks us how we are doing, if we heard about the Year of a Million Dreams, etc...finally my DH starts to get a clue and slows down...

We chat a little more but .... nothing comes of it. We aren't into pin trading so not sure if he had any special pins or not...We say goodbye and go into PoC. We warn DD that it will be dark and there are "boom booms" (cannons) and she is generally ok with it. At the gift shop area, I learned on the DIS, that you are supposed to go over to the cashier to answer the Trivia Question for a prize...I'm not sure which cashier it is so I just stand in line to ask. She directs me to another cashier and I bump right into ......

THE DREAM TEAM!!!!!!!

Yes, there they are...video camera, DVD player, 5+ CMs standing around -- this is one of the BIG ones!!!

Woo Hoo!!! We are in the

a) RIGHT Park - MK
b) RIGHT Land - Adventureland
c) RIGHT Ride - PoC
d) RIGHT Time - alittle after 10am
and are the RIGHT Person .....

Wrong! :sad2:  :sad2:

Turns out it was the boat in front of us....:sad1: :sad1: :sad1: I ask a CM and she said they are getting the Cinderella Castle dream (assuming all the legal requirements are met...)

And the worst thing was -- this freaking family wasn't even excited...they were like, "oh, that's nice, what is it?"

OMG!!!

Let me tell you (even as I write this), I got this black, dark thud in the pit of my stomach...I didn't want to move...I almost wanted to throw up...we were so absolutely, positively close to getting the Castle stay that it momentarily really depressed me and made me want to cry.

I tried to tell DH but he didn't understand. I had to mentally tell myself, it just wasn't meant to be and I should count my blessings that I was even IN WDW, etc...

I guess I didn't realize how much I wanted a dream (a BIG one) until that moment. So after I brooded for my allotted 5 minutes, we go on more rides. We just walk right onto Haunted Mansion (DD liked it -- more Boom Booms), IASW (DD fell in love with this ride)...Have you see the hidden mickeys in this?

The Buzz Lightyear Ride. We had to do an early lunch at Cosmic Rays since our ADR was for 4:20pm. Photopass pics in front of the castle (we didn't get them back yet but here are the ones taken with our cameras)

So cute in the barber shop! Love the haircut and those pink ears! That is a hillarious look on your DD's face in the one with the giant sissors!

I love the haircut pics Marshay. DD looks adorable and she cooperated so nicely. I love that pic with the pink hat and especially the one with the big scissors and comb!!! They are great memories!

Yeah, me too!

My mom didn't understand why I waited until this trip to get her hair cut but it was definitely worth it - so much better than going down to the mall!

Great update. DD looks so cute with the nice fresh haircut!:goodvibes

We were in MK that morning, too, wandering around pretty close to where you guys were. If I had seen any Dream Team members, I was completely oblivious. I can't believe you were so close, but missed out on it. That would have been horrible. I can only imagine how you must have felt. I think you need a hug to go with that bad experience.

Great update Marsahy!!

DD looks adorable and I love the pic with the Huge scissors:rotfl2:

What a shame about being that close to Castle stay.I would have rather not known

This is for you:

My parents decide to stay in MK a bit longer but we need to get back to the room for DDs nap. I snap a few pics of the park with all their Fall decorations:

Hey, Sharky -- Your DH worked with this guy, right? He was our driver...not very talkative though...
DSC_9612.jpg

We go back and nap successfully -- DD was tired. Dinner is at my favorite 1 credit meal in WDW -- Le Cellier! Yes, KindaKrazy, Canadian is best!!

We ate here for lunch in '05 and got the Filet Mignons and my mouth is drooling just from thinking about it. I've only met one person who doesn't like this restaurant and one on the DIS, but I honestly don't understand why not...guess they just got a bad meal -- it happens...

So this time we were there for dinner. While we are waiting, we snap a few pics -- DD is in a good mood!

Lately DD is giving us these big hugs

DD was so excited to see the bears coming toward her, that she ran away laughing...

(For the Sharky mind, yes that is me in the top left corner of the photo!)

I'm very sad to say that the only picture we got from Le Cellier was this one - non-alcoholic drinks that came with our DDP!! DD also got a drink with a light up Tinkerbell
DSC_9658.jpg

I ordered the duck appetizer, Filet Mignon (Med Rare) and the Apple Crumble. Everyone else got the Cheddar Cheese Soup (I ate my dad's since he didn't want his -- YUM!!!). My mom ordered hers Medium, since she isn't adventurous enough to order less done...however, at the end of the meal, I realized that her piece was more red than mine -- I think the server mixed ours up. However, my mom thought the Filet was the best she ever had -- even compared to our friend who is a meat butcher and obviously very picky about his steaks!

All of our steaks were just scrumptious! No gobs of fat, not overcooked, tender as can be, spiced just perfectly (don't even think about A-1 sauce). Our waitress was funny, professional and just a nice person (we tipped a lot more than the 18%). My portion of the bill alone was $60!!! So glad we used the DDP.

After dinner, my parents went their own way and we decided to stroll over to Mexico and Norway. DD loves Mexico boat ride and the dancing dolls, we do more crazy hats
DSC_9680.jpg

On to the Maelstrom and the mandatory troll shot
DSC_9683.jpg

I couldn't decide which pics to post, so I'll post all 3 of the Viking hats. I can't wait until DD's hair is long enough to put in braids:

It is so nice to be able to walk back to your room, no crowds to fight and no lines. My father rushes on ahead to get the boat that just pulled into the dock, but I know that it'll take us a bit longer with DD, the stroller, etc, so I just say we're walking. Heh, heh, we get back to the room first anyway! The boat from Epcot goes to Boardwalk first, then to the dock at Yacht Club and there is still a bit of a walk to the BCV. It's a nice ride to enjoy -- you don't take the boat to be quicker!

Tomorrow is our "sleep in" day -- did we forget to tell DD?
This is our pool day -- did someone forget to tell me? (oops!)
Cape May Cafe -- characters!!!
