Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

Does it help to know my hubby and I got in a fight in the middle of Target this weekend over a box of bandaids for the trip? :goodvibes It's all gonna work out just fine.

:rotfl2: Yes, that does help! I debated with myself over buying bandaids the other day...but I managed to resolve the issue with myself peacefully :lmao:

This must all be part of the pre-cruise stress that makes it so wonderful to actually relax once you're on the ship! That's what I'm holding on to anyway!

for sailing with friends rather than the kids...

OH MY GOODNESS!
Also wondering how the parking is going to work out. We want to park at the Vancouver airports long term parking lot, and then take the skytrain to waterfront station near the port. But thinking would be best to drop off all but two people at the port, then those 2 people can take the can to the parking lot and come back to save on lugging stuff around and skytrain fare. Only problem is that none of us want to be the ones to find our way around vancouver, lol. We have a history of our googlemaps not taking us to the right places, and also parking in the wrong lots, lol. I'm guessing it will take an hour to get from port to airport and back....

oh the decisions we have to make... not liking this.

Thinking of doing the same. Got a $50 YVR gift card via my Save-On More reward points and found a coupon discount rate for the long term parking lot.
(coupon YVR website...look for Super Summer Special) Not enough posts to let me put in a link.
Then found out that I can get the discount rate without the coupon just by showing my BCAA card when exiting. Just an FYI if any of those options may work for you too.

Anyone know anything about the Ramada? We're staying there Monday night, and see that it's close to the terminal. But what does "close" mean with a suitcase and two kids? Anyone walked from there to the dock, or is a taxi a better idea?

And our boarding time is at 12:30. Can we get there earlier and stand in line, or is 12:30 the hard time? Never boarded a cruise boat before, not sure of the process. Just seven days and a wake up!

We are staying at the Ramada Limited Downtown. Never stayed there before, but the reviews looked good for the most part. According to the hotel website, they are about 6 blocks from the Cruise Terminal, but as John said, we reserved a taxi to take us from the hotel to the ship.

Just some questions regarding boarding and the stateroom closets / storage.

We have finally received our boarding docs from the travel agency. DCL mailed it out on August 9th to the travel agency and the finally shipped it to us and we got it on Sept 9th. Not using them anymore!!! The boarding doc states embarkation is 3:00PM. If I remember correctly from 2005 on the Disney Magic each group received boarding passes for a specific time that way you don't have everyone showing up at once. Is that true? If yes we don't have a time.

Next the staterooms closets. Is there enough room in them to put empty hard shell luggage into? We plan on bring one hard shell luggage for our costume pieces and some toys but the rest will be soft canvas style bags. That way we can unpack and put all the soft stuff into the hard shell luggage and store in closet or ship storage.

Anyone have internal pictures of the closet space?

By the way our stateroom number is 6042 I THINK!!! Port side slightly forward of midship.

I would plan on putting the suitcases under the bed. That seems to be the best recommendation on most of the threads I have read.

John - :lmao::laughing::rotfl::rotfl: and just because I can - :banana::banana:

I thought we had a lot of FE stuff, but I've started to pack my cameras, netbook, and other electronics and discovered it's not all going to fit in one backpack, like I thought. :headache:

Now I have two bags I'm going to have to haul on the train. Meh... :sad2:

I better get packing! :laundy:

We are coming about 2,930 miles to Vancouver. :cool1:

All of your suitcases should fit under the bed. :woohoo:

I am really exhausted. Can barely keep my eyes open. Guess I'd better go to bed. Get my beauty rest. :lmao::lmao::lmao:

I can barely contain myself. :dance3::dance3::dance3:

Need to figure out two outfits. What I'm wearing to Palo and what to wear to Club 33. :goodvibes:goodvibes

What a long day at work. I can't wait to get away from work next week.

I know the feeing - I hv a gal out on vacation -thankfully she is back on Wednesday
What line of business are you in?

lunch or dinner at club 33? This last time I wore black capris & took some nice shoes with me that I put on right before we went in then stored them in the locker after our lunch

It's about a mile - some downhill - glide on down - I'd take a cab - chasing a suitcase and a couple of kids and if it is lunch time downtown - could be busy on the streets. :dance3:

We are getting close - woo hoo

:hippie:

We're also staying at the Ramada, and I think there might be someone else also. We were thinking about a cab, just because we don't want to walk with all our stuff. If there's enough people, we can think about sharing a cab and reducing the expense...

We are also staying at the Ramada (3 adults, no kids). :banana:Mapquest says it is 1/2 mile and a 12 minute walk. It looks like 6 1/2 blocks on the map. If I had kids, I think it would be more comfortable to take a cab. That all being said, we are walking. I figure it should take us 15 minutes with suitcases; our check-in time is 12 noon.

brenda, your FE is just Beautiful! I love the primary colors!

Congratulations Pam and Nate. Hope your move to Seattle after your Cruise goes smoothly too.

Question to everyone- Does anyone use those packing sleeves and packing cubes? DOES it really save you space? I figure it organizes things better. Now I have to decide whether to take clothes out or buy the packing sleeves /cubes.

Happy tuesday!

Thank you - btw - i did NOT make this...this is the 2nd one that i've purchased from "Gradysmommy" on ebay...she does a fabulous job...

I do use the packing cubes - i like how they organize everything & i think it does save some space...i also bring along some spacesaving bags that you roll the air out of just in case those are also needed :)

Are there hooks on the door to hang the FE hanger or do I need rig up something?

Also auntyjenn if you have any questions about Bellingham I can help u out if u end up stopping there.

Last but not least.... one week to go.

there is a silver "fish" that is a hook outside each stateroom

I finally pulled out the suitcases yesterday and made a 'staging' area on the spare bed in my dd's room!
Most of the kids clothing is set out already other than a couple of shorts for ds (hoping it is warm for the trip).

I decided to bring about 5-6 'outfits' for each child since they are more likely to get dirty... along with their jackets, swimsuit and special items (dd's minnie dress and ds's mickey shirt I made them).

I think I will do 3 pairs of bottoms (pants/shorts combo) and about 5 shirts for both DH and myself so that we can mix n match.

I bought those purex sheets that have the detergent in them so that I won't need to bring liquid/powdered detergent with us or pay for it onboard. I'm thinking we will do laundry once mid trip and then again on the last day, and then once more mid way through our hotel stay in Disneyland. I'm hoping that with all that washing we won't need so much clothing and can cut back on luggage.
Of course I will be needing to fit in a bunch of diapers/wipes for dd, no way around that, lol.

Plus we have FE gifts to pack, the odd things like glow sticks and ds's light up mickey spinner that we got on clearance at walmart a few years ago, lol. Probably some bandaids for blisters and ****oos.

Ugggh, and now I need to figure out how I'm going to carry the darn camera, lol. I tried to see if it would fit in the smaller camera bag I have but it was a no go, so I'm thinking I'm stuck with my big bulky canon bag :(

Does anyone have a list, or a link to a list for must have items? I don't want to pack too many extras, but also do want to forget anything that we're going to need....

Oh and I have to call GraylineAnaheim today to schedule pick up for our Knotts Berry Farm day, and I need to make our order for Vons grocery delivery for when we get to Disneyland (want to get some snack items and beverages to cut back on what we spend eating out, any ideas of what to get that isn't too unhealthy, but easy to store/eat? We will have firdge and microwave at the hotel).

Whew, I guess I need to get started now, lol.
