Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

The wedding was beautiful. Everything went off without (too many) hitches. It was great to get to see all of our families - people on both sides traveled from all over the country to get to the wedding. It was really great.
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Nothing like planning to your heart's content and actually having the event actually follow your plan!

I'm beginning to think Heather and I are coming from farthest away for this cruise. It's about 1400 miles for us. Anyone from further away?
At first I thought we would take the cake but then I read these and calculated our mileage and came up short ...
Central Mexico here!! We're about 3 hours north of Mexico City. We get to go through immigration twice, once in the states (MEX - PHX) and then Canadian immigration when we reach Vancouver! Oh joy!!
Hey, Bob!! You beat us by about 77 miles! 2913 for us! Though I'll raise you an extra immigration stop!
We are only flying/train riding 2679 miles from Maui apparently. I usually just call it 3K miles when we go anywhere from home, but the West Coast isn't nearly as far as I thought as the crow flies ...

Did you see the post about track work between Seattle and Vancouver? You might want to check with Amtrak and see what the status is...
We are on the Amtrak Cascades #510 from Seattle to Vancouver on
Sept 19th. I called Amtrak and they advised the track repair delays do not effect that train.:yay:
Thank you for posting about the track work, reminder, and the update about the Amtrak Cascades ... you're on the 7am one on the 19th, correct? We're on the same one and have not received a notification so am still looking forward to our train ride (even though technically the bus is shorter). My son is very excited about the concept of a dining car, and I just love being able to wander on a train for any ride that long rather than being required to sit for several hours ... we get enough of that on the 5+ hour plane ride.

Just finished my last presentation until after the trip for grad school and handed my work keys to my replacement door-opener, even though I work for a few more days ... its getting closer! 4 more sleeps until I fly, 1 more week until we sail!!

i have not had a chance to pack other than pirate stuff.....nail appt / pedicure / tan appt / hair appt / drs appts....i guess i'll be packing friday night after picking up sister from SJC & finishing up sat before we leave for the train station....nothing like "last minute" packing :rotfl:
i had debated about bringing a rain coat - but i think i will - that "may" keep the rain away whereas if i don't bring it - would def need it ;)

Well I am so glad it is Wednesday - my coworker is back from her vacation today & i can conc on clearing my office....:dance3:

Yesterday we made our arrangements for our ride to the airport for next Monday morning - we leave at 7:20 a.m.

Car will pick us up at 12:30 a.m. and drive us to the bus station about an hour or so away. We then get on a 2:00 a.m. bus for Mexico City airport for a 5:00 a.m. arrival. I DON'T think we'll be sleeping much that night - plus it is Independence Day on Friday and I think the celebrations will still be going on all weekend, so maybe we'll just be sleeping this cruise away!!!

Definitely hope we'll be awake to meet folks at the Pan Pacific Monday afternoon!!!

Michael

I am about 1/2 packed. Got the FE stuff in a suitcase, and about half of the clothes. Once I clock out tomorrow, I am on vacation - but Friday is busy with cat sitting, Dr. Appt., and a massage booked. I think I will pack a couple of the plastic bag type raincoats.

Glad your co-worker is back. See you Tuesday.

Yes, we are on the 7:40a train that arrives in Vancouver at 11:40a. We love being able to get up and move around on the train.

This has been a crazy week :scared1:and it will continue:

Doctor appointment on Monday, that set up a procedure for the day I get back from this trip.

My Brother and my Son arrived on Monday; My Son goes home tomorrow and my Brother goes home on Saturday.

We have a water well problem :scared1:and a technician comes out this morning.

Two wood projects for the Church Preschool need to be done.

That leaves last minute packing for Saturday afternoon :scared1:, as we leave Sunday morning.

Looking forward to this trip.
:dance3:

Here is a silly question but needs to be asked. We are at the hotel on Sunday night near the airport. Is Vancouver on 220 or 120 in the hotels? I would hate to have to bring an adapter for one day use but thinking about it it would be nice to have all electronics charged up for boarding pictures / film footage...!:confused3

Thanks...I think I'll try it too.

On another note; just learned how to do HDR (high dynamic range) photos with my camera :)

Cool. HDR is fun and can be very helpful as long as it isn't over-processed...

XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX XXXXX (oh wait someone here doesn't like the bananas do they?? opps ;):rolleyes1

Ban the banana!!!!

Good to hear that. I'd rather ride the train than take a three hour bus ride...

Thanks for the reminder... I'm charging everything before I leave home.

Outlets in Canada should be the same as what is used in the US.
We aren't on another planet, lol, j/k.:thumbsup2

I finished one! Still have to do my mom and brothers now.
Oh yeah, I was going to put bows on the girl ones.... might still be able to do that :)
