Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

Happy Double Digits, everyone! I thought we were at 99 days today but my DU reservation says 98. See, time is flying!

I picked up a skirt & top to use for Pirate night pirate:. DH will be the harder one to kit out in appropriate gear. I have a feeling he will not be receptive to wearing a puffy shirt :rolleyes1. The kids already have a partial pirate costume and I figure the Halloween stuff will already be out in the stores before we leave so will be able to pick up a couple more things then.

And I'm super excited because next week I'm having laser eye surgery so this might be the first trip where I don't have to pack bottles of lens rinse, spare glasses, glass cleaner, etc., etc., etc.! Woo hoo! I might even be able to see the stage shows with sitting in the front row.

98 sleeps...98 sleeps...98 sleeps...!

Oh oh oh...and I"ve been waffling about joining the FE exchange, in fact I started this paragraph saying I was stil l affling. Then made the executive decision that I would really really like to take part as well. As long as no one sets their expectations too high as I have no crafty abilities whatsoever. :lmao:

So please if I can come play, that would be Doug, Norah & two daughters (10 & 6) in cabin 7552.

I just got this email from Air Canada and thought I'd pass it along:

At Air Canada, in the event of a strike, we are fully committed to taking care of our customers.

Dear customer,

We are committed to averting a strike and are hard at work to reach a settlement with the Canadian Auto Workers (CAW), the union representing Air Canada's call centre and airport customer service agents in Canada.

What will happen if a strike occurs?

Rest assured that we will continue to operate our regular schedule. Existing bookings will be honoured and future bookings welcomed. We are also implementing a contingency service plan to minimize impact to our customers in the event of a strike.

Use our self-service tools

Our call centres are currently experiencing call volumes that are higher than normal. To avoid unnecessary wait time, please visit aircanada.com or contact your travel agent, to manage or book your flights.
We strongly encourage you to check-in within 24 hours of flight departure, online at aircanada.com or on a mobile device at mobile.aircanada.com
Flight updates are also available at aircanada.com
We look forward to welcoming you on board. It's business as usual, while we work things out on the ground.

For up-to-date information visit aircanada.com.

Sincerely,

Air Canada

Welcome to the group.

Rosie, that makes me glad that I am not flying in.

Nate would also REALLY like to do the suspension bridge. If anyone wants to meet up Monday afternoon and do the suspension bridge together, we'd totally be up for that!!! :goodvibes

As much as I REALLY DO want to visit the suspension bridge, the Regional Park, Salmon Hatchery, and Cleveland Dam look fun too, they're free, and right nearby the bridge, so we could see both :cool1:

oh i still need to talk to Dianne & Teresa about that....

Thought I'd post this idea, especially for those whose teen children or husbands may not be open to wearing a ruffly shirt with their pirate costume.

I made these costumes last year for my sons, for pirate night on our first cruise. They did not balk at all at wearing these. And the price was pretty inexpensive.

Here is what you need to buy:
1 short-sleeve plain red t-shirt
1 long-sleeve white t-shirt
1 pair of black sweatpants

You can get these bigger than usual to make them look looser and less fitted.

Now: cut the collar and the sleeves off the red t-shirt, and then cut it open up the middle of the front. Voila, a vest! If you want, you can put a skull and crossbones on the back of the vest--use fabric and iron-on interfacing, or fabric paint.

Next: Cut the collar off the white t-shirt. Then, cut the sleeves so that they are 3/4-length. Cut then in a zig-zag pattern to give them a raggedy look. There! Shirt all done!

Last, cut the sweatpants so that they come somewhere below the knee, once again using a zig-zag cut.

Add in a pirate hat, eyepatch, what have you, to complete the look.

I am so excited, our FE Gift exchange list is shaping up nicely.

I'm in NW suburban Portland (kind of Beaverton, kind of Hillsboro) north of Hwy. 26.

Ah! Are you going to fly in or take the train? I decided to fly and give myself a day in Vancouver. I'll be travelling with my adult daughter.

We're taking the train, it was way cheaper than flying. I think we are getting a hotel for 1 night and getting on the boat the next day (hubby is the one who keeps all our vacation arrangements straight, I can't).

I thought I'd posted that I wanted to be in the Fish Exchange but maybe I imagined it, so please add us to your list of FE people--
Pat and Margo, Blake (age 17), Duncan (age 13)--we don't have a room assignment yet.

Thanks!

I don't believe it! I just don't believe it! We were planning on arriving in Vancouver around noon on the departure Tuesday...Then fast forward to today....I've been busy this week trying to book a new out of school care for my kids. Sat down this morning to compare the school calendar to my registraion package and realized that Monday September 19th is a pro-d day! Really? 10 days into the school year and they have a 'planning day'?! Arghhhhhhh! I'm already taking them out of school for 7 days for this trip and they don't even have school the day before!

Sigh...and then my little brain started to think...'well then, why not over to Vancouver the night before...' Dh & I still have to work on the Monday but might take the 7pm ferry over...I mentioned that it sure would be nice to stay at the Pan Pacific and watch the ship arrive....:lmao: Yay, more planning!

Fergus- we have a Pro-D on the 23 during the cruise! Poor little kiddos need a day off ater 3 hard weeks :lol

That works out great for you - more vacation days!

Just wondering for cruisers heading to Disneyland after cruise.... How are you getting there?

That works out great for you - more vacation days!

Sadly, only for the kids. I don't think I can take any more days off or I won't be able to take time off at Christmas. Ah well, at least the kids will be rested :lmao:

We're heading to DL after and I think I booked a shuttle...Yes, I did! Karmel Shuttle...$68 from the Port to Park Vue Inn...

We also have a pro D day, I think its the 26th so the guilt of taking her out for school for 9 days isn't as bad ( 8 days is soo much better :)

We still have to figure out how we are getting to the Anabella after the cruise, I look at one, then read bad reviews then move on to something else, read a bad review, rinse and repeat. Should get that booked soon since we are only a couple months out now :cool1:

We are taking a limo from socalimo.com, it ended up being $100. For our group of 6, it would have been pretty close to that for just a shuttle, so we figured we'd prefer a private limo and go in style, lol.

I never got this email but thanks for the heads up as I will be traveling with AirCanada for my flight to Vancouver. I am catching the first flight that morning from LAX to YVR so I have options if this flight is canceled or delayed. Boy I hope not... I guess I better start looking at alternative flights.
