The kids and I were down at the waterfront yesterday watching one of the ferries come in. My 6 year old asked me very wistfully "Mommy, if we save and save all our money can we go on the Disney ship some day?"
Sniff...I almost gave up the secret right then right there!![]()

OMG - how sweet...I'm not sure of your plans as to when & where you'll be at when you tell (or they realize) that you're taking this cruise...but you just have someone nearby with a camera to capture their surprise & squeals of joy!!!!
Our plans are in constant flux so we don't know either! We were going to wait till the weekend before we leave but DH is really wanting to tell them now. I say it's still too early. We also have some imminent bad news to break to them so I'd rather keep the good news in reserve for now.
I have a printed invitation already made up from Captain Mickey that we're going to seal with red wax & drop into the mailbox for them to find...I was going to try and make up t-shirts for them with the PIP design & dates but as time is slipping away I'm not sure if that'll ever come to pass...
And oh yes, we will videotape! Hehehe...

What a great idea to have an invitation from Mickey for them! I say wait until after they here the bad news, that way there will be some good news for them later
Our DS(4) knows that we are going, but he doesn't know the day since he doesn't know how to read calendars yet, lol. We were thinking we will get our bags ready the night before and then in the morning (my mom will be picking us up in her van, so she will come over at about 5am) we will pack up the bags into the van BEFORE waking him and dd(1) up. Then we will get them up and just tell him that we are going to go to the zoo or something along those lines and that we need to leave early to get there when it opens. We have a gift for him for the ride down (Leapster Explorer and some Disney games) that we will surprise him with. And then if we can keep it a secret until we get to the parking lot at the airport we will surprise him with where we are really going that day by opening up the back with all our luggage in it! That's that plan anyhow, he's pretty smart though and might catch on sooner if he spies the luggage or anything, lol.
It's a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver and look, she's there waiting for us:

Good Morning Fellow Cruisers!!!
Woke up so excited today thinking of how close were getting.
I had really wanted to stay at the Pan Pacific but I just couldn't swallow the price. I ended up using Hotwire and got the Sheraton Wall Center. Wrote them yesterday to ask about an airport shuttle, and while they don't have one, their response was immediate and thorough. I was really impressed! They listed several options and prices. When I wrote back to thank them for the quick reply, they wrote me again and thanked me!
It's funny cause I also visited the Vancouver Airport website and was extremely impressed with it's layout and user friendliness. I wrote their customer service department to compliment them and they wrote me back too!
I'm REALLY liking Canadians!!!
Happy to hear things are working out for you.
My experience at the Vancouver Airport was smooth and going through customs was fast and painless. I waited longer to get on the ship shuttle (not Disney BTW) than I did at customs. The shuttle ride from the airport to the ship terminal was long but I did enjoy the sites. I too am excited about our upcoming trip but I have a Disneyland Half Marathon in less than three weeks.
I can't wait for this trip to relax a little before I run the WDW Wine & Dine Half Marathon in October.
OHHHHHH i wish we were there now too!!!! SOOOONNN - at least i have Disneyland, D23 Expo AND Club 33 coming up this Friday!!!It's a beautiful sunny day in Vancouver and look, she's there waiting for us:

I just wanted to share our tentative plans for embarkation day and see what everyone thought...
We live about 3hrs from Vancouver, so will be driving (the 6 of us) in my moms van. The vinci-whatever it is parking at the port seems really expensive, plus we will be flying back from LA and our flight will get into Vancouver around 10pm so we'd like the van near by so we don't have to mess with luggage too much while trying to get to wherever we park the van.
So we are thinking of using the airport parking lot.
We will have to tote our luggage/stroller/carseats on the skytrain to the port and walk the block or two to the port to board. But on the plus side, once we fly home, we will be able to easily get to the van at the airport parking lot.
Does this sound like a decent plan? Does anyone know any better options?
We thought of driving down and then getting a relative that lives down there to use our van to drop us off at the port and then come pick us up at the airport when we return, but the only relative that would be able to do that can't because of work scheduleThat would have been a perfect option!
We can get $50 off gift cards from our Save-On-More points for the airport parking though. I know we have enough for 1, not sure if we can get enough points for another one before we leave though...

hummm - what about dropping 5 of you off at the Port with all the luggage - the 5 of you can get the luggage squared away while the driver goes back to the airport & parks, and then takes skytrain over to port to meet up with you??? If you have enough time to do it that way, seems like a lot less trouble than hauling all that luggage thru sky train????
