Sept 20,2011 Wonder Repositioning Cruise

Opps, of course I remember another one just after I hit send, lol.

If you have any excursions planned, many tip the bus drivers and/or tour guides as well.
Which reminds me if you are taking DCL transfers, some tip the drivers there too.

Who else is doing Disneyland after the cruise and how many days?

We are! We are!

Only for 2 1/2 days though.. I'm bummed that Pirates will be closed during our visit...:sad1:.

Picked up the last piece for my pirate outfit last weekend. Surprisingly my 'wouldn't dress up if my life depended on it' hubby has gotten right into the whole pirate thing! I've had to rein him back by reminding him that we have limited suitcase space! I found him a great pirate shirt & jacket so we've been hunting for some piratey pants. Then he talked to his mom and found out she has a full pirate costume (well, her husband does...hubby doesn't want to dress as a pirate wench :rotfl2:) so there, problem solved!

I'm not going to tell the kids about the pirate night..I've been collecting different pieces for them so will just bring it out to surprise them while they're in full 'but we don't have a costume' whine.

And let's not forget that September 19th is International Talk Like a Pirate Day - I may even try out my costume at work before packing it away for the cruise!! pirate:

We're going to Disneyland after the cruise. We're taking the Disney Cruise bus to the Grand Californian. That way we don't have to struggle with our luggage. Woo!

And we are also taking the Sapphire Princess to Vancouver. It will be my birthday so I'm really excited. My first time cruising with Princess. The love boat.:love::love::love::love::love::love::love:

I am looking forward to the Sapphire Princess. Hope to take lots of pictures. I just hope that certain song doesn't stay in my head!!

Yeah, we will only be at Disneyland for two days, but it will sure help me remember the last time I was there.:hippie::lovestruc

Less than two months!!! :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

So, where can we lay our sleepy heads in Vancouver that won't break the bank, yet won't have us waking up covered in bedbugs......:scared1::scared1:

pirate: Ewwww - scratch, scratch, you got me reading Cruise Critic and of course they talk about Bed Bugs on planes, trains, hotels and cruise ships. Other than sleeping in the bath tub there is a possibility - we just need to be aware. And the bed bug detector dog.:hippie:

Any bug that bites me deserves everything he gets...

I have a serious question (yeah, it's possible...) for the veteran cruisers.

Have you had any issues with Customs when returning to the US? I'm thinking specifically about cameras and other expensive electronics you take with you on the trip. I'm planning on a DSLR camera with three lenses, flash and assorted accessories, a compact camera, a netbook computer, a two-way radio, and a GPS unit.

The CBP website says I could be charged duty on the items when returning, but it's possible to execute a Form 4457 and register the items before I leave the country. It just means I have to cart the entire load down to a Customs office so they can verify I really did have the items in my possession.

In all my years of traveling in Mexico and Costa Rica, I always took lots of camera stuff with me and never had an issue getting it back into the country. Because I haven't been out of the country since 1995, I don't know if Customs has become stricter about things like this in the post-9/11 world.

I would think with such a plethora of equipment it would be better safe than sorry.

But then again, the world (other than me) is getting so tech. savy. :surfweb: If you have your receipts with you and the equipment shows it is operational it should work but it probably depends who is on duty at the time.

Guess I just rambled on there didn't I - I always tend to be overly cautious . Good luck :hippie:

Question about the FE for everyone, I have been doing reading (A LOT of reading) about how other groups are doing exchanges and a lot of group are assigning times for people to hand out stuff. Are we doing that (I may have missed it)?

I'd prefer not to have assigned times to deliver them.
Some people may have multiple gifts and want to deliver them randomly thoughout the 5 nights.

We're cruising to have fun and relax, not worry about assigned gifting times :hippie:

I tend to lean toward this too. I have a couple of things, but they will be delivered all at once. I NEED to empty out the suitcase I am bringing (along with part of my garment bag)

Works for me :) I was reading some other posts and they seem REALLY structured (people are on assigned lists, have times for delivering) and I was wondering if I had missed something along the way. We (much to the chagrin of the rest of my room) are going to try and get ours out the first day because its something that most people can use from the get go.

There are young adults age 14 to 17 years on the FE list. What I am looking for is inexpensive ideas for gifts for that age group. any ideas out there? any success stories from past cruises?
thanks.

A couple of things about FE gifts. On our WBTA, we had so many participating that we were broken into groups.

You deliver them when you wanted.

Even though this is only a five day cruise, you still might want to have this group divided into two. This way you would not stress the first timers. But that is just My Opinion.

I loved doing the FE gifts, but I ended up going over in my luggage poundage going home. This time since I am unemployed I just cannot do the FE even though I would love to.

Just enjoy your time on the Wonder :thumbsup2

Most important,,,,,,Do Not Stress!!!

The one thing I gave was a book on the Hidden Mickeys on the DCL ships and it was well received.

Yeah I wasn't planning on structuring the list that much. I think our group is relatively small compared to other FE exchanges so I am of the opinion deliver whenever you want.

Hi
missJ,
did you say you were going to be traveling from seattle to vancouver on the sapphire princess?

I know there have been others mention it too.

anyone interested in a PRE-disney WONDER meet on the Sapphire Princess?

Yes we will be on the Princess. I think a meet on the Sapphire would be great.

Hi everyone - We booked this cruise a few months ago and I am excited that I just found this forum. I have already read lots of useful information on this site.

This is the first Disney cruise for us (my husband and I) but we have taken several other cruises in the past. We will be taking the Amtrak Cascades from Vancouver, Washington to Vancouver, BC arriving on Monday, September 19th. After the cruise we will be visiting Disneyland for four days and staying at the Worldmark in Anaheim.

We will need a shuttle to our hotel in Anaheim and just booked one today for $95 for the two of us. That seems pretty high and I was wondering if anyone had any tips on getting a better deal for a shuttle. Would a taxi be a better bet?

The cruise is getting closer...I can't wait!

Welcome Dee!

Where will you be staying in Vancouver BC?

I don't know for sure but that does seem kind of high for a shuttle...I'm not going to DL this time but I'm sure other cruisers will know for sure.

We would also like to sign up for the Fish Extender gift exchange. It sounds so fun but I do need more details...

Thanks,
Steve and Denise
