Cruise ship captain found dead...
...and he was very YOUNG too.

The 38-year-old captain of the Monarch of the Seas cruise ship died this week as the vessel steamed north from Mexico, just hours before it docked in San Pedro.

Authorities said Capt. Joern Rene Klausen was found in his stateroom at approximately 4:15 a.m. Monday, according to a statement issued by Royal Caribbean International, which operates the 2,700-passenger cruise ship.

"The death appears to be from natural causes and authorities in Los Angeles will conduct an autopsy," the statement said.

A supervisor from the Los Angeles County Coroner's Office said late Tuesday that an examination had not yet been conducted and the office had no statement at that time.

Passengers were told shortly after the ship docked around 7 a.m. that the captain had died some time earlier. The ship was returning from a three-day weekend cruise to Ensenada, Mexico, which departed San Pedro on Friday.

"Some people saw police boarding the vessel and everybody's disembarking time was delayed," said Ken Kagan of Seattle, one of the passengers. "Then we saw a gurney being wheeled off with a body on it."

Klausen, a native of Norway, worked for Royal Caribbean for 12 years and served on several of the company's ships as a first officer, chief officer and staff captain.

In May 2005 he became captain of the Monarch of the Seas.

"Our heartfelt condolences go out to Capt. Klausen's family and friends," said Adam Goldstein, president of Royal Caribbean International.

Thanks. You should see my van. I got that van paint and wrote The Steelers are XLent on the back window. and One for the thumb on the brow of the van. Just like my siggy below I'm hoping I won't get a violation.

The S.B. could have been a better game for both teams. The Steelers messed up. bad calls were made. The refs suck. I admit gimmies were probably given and gimmies went both ways. But, I don't think the game could've gone any other way.

I am very excited. I'm stocking up on our S.B. items. Got an XL terrible towel. The Steelers play on the 3rd of Sept. (the first day of our cruise) so, we'll be headed toward a t.v. right away. We'll be wearing our Steelers gear and of course I'll have a terrible towel on hand.

The birthday pin arrived and its alot heavier than I thought it would be. There's even a mickey shaped rubber back. My MIL will be very impressed as am I.

Oh, cool. I bet if you are in a pinch you could use the little rubber part as a rubber stamp. Hmmm....interesting idea. Its small enoug that you could have hidden mickeys in your note of what ever.

I keep looking behind me so to speak when I post. There's a certain poster who thinks I'm being snarky. He/She follows my Steelers posts, I wouldn't be surprised if he/she were reading all my posts. Any way, I have this feeling that he/ she will come along and post behind me (like a mugger or some thing).

What I'd like to do is invite this poster over to the WISH forum. Maybe I could get another DISer to start WISHing with me. Every one needs to be healthy and exercise more regular right? Sorry, for the sick humor. Its late, I'm tired of being attacked, and I'm all stinky from working out. Good night my friends.

Hello all! Well not to much goin on here. I am sooooo tired. I haven't had a decent nights sleep in days and now it's starting to take it's toll. Thank goodness I have tomorrow off. I don't plan on even changing out of my pj's all day. I hope everyone is having a great week so far. And Teaja, if some Snarky poster is following you it's just because their jealous! I mean come on, you ROCK!!!

AMANDA, I hope you've been able to get the "decent" sleep you need. Its tough trying to function when your body doesn't want to cooperate due to lack of sleep. Take things easy, maybe a trip to a hot tub would put you to sleep. Make sure Eric's (or a friend) there with you so he can drive you home. Poor thing.

Well last night I finally got some decent sleep. However this morning my wisdom teeth have decided to start coming in. All I can say is now I understand why babies cry so much when they are teething. And my DR has me on an anti-depressent for a daily theropy for my migrains. I swear I am falling apart. But by monday I will have to peel off my pj's because I don't plan on wearing anything else! I hope everyone had a great week. And I will definatly be back this weekend!
