I work nights so I was 2nd in line for voting this morning :thumbsup2

We are considering doing the 7 night Western in early March or late January next year. Have any of you done this cruise? Thoughts on it? I would like to try the 7 day before I do a 14 day... I just can't decide if we want to WDW or Cruise for next year.

We have done 2 Westerns and are going again on the 29th of this month.
The Eastern is our favorite but the Western is nice too.
If you've never seen Mayan ruins they have some great ones to see there at Cozumel. I think the shopping was a tad more expensive than the Eastern.
The weather was nice on all the trips. We did the jungle hike at Cozumel which was fun.

You do tender at Grand Caymen and it is a 10 minute ride to shore and is often kinda bumpy. We are going on a private yacht this time and will snorkel with sting rays from it:goodvibes

Key West is great. Fabulous snorkeling or glass bottom boats to see the awesome reefs and their fish if you dont snorkel. Plus if you just want to explore on your own there are dozens of museums within walking distance of the port. The Southern most point and the end of Hwy 1 are both there too. Only a mile from the port.

Lots of shopping there, but the stores right by the pier are expensive. walk 2 blocks and get stuff for 1/2 the price.

One big difference if you use a cam corder on most excursions at GC and Cozumel they will want you to pay to use it. Cameras are ok, but to use video you have to pay for a permit to use it on the excusrion.

I think thats rediculious to charge for that.

But over all it is a nice cruise and I am happy to be going again in just a few days:woohoo: I would recommend it.

I feel stupid...What's SM?

In her meaning SM = Secret Mickey ...

But if you see me type it , it usually means Sweet Melissa for my DW ... i dont know where that nick name started but it was somewhere on a Disney Cruise ... I just dont know which one ...:lmao:

pirate:

Or as they are otherwise known - Disney's Cruise Line's very own Ken and Barbie! :rotfl2: :rotfl:

(I make sure not to stand too close to either one of them or else I might be mistaken for the peon) ;) (you know I'm just kidding Cpt! We all love ya! OK most of us except for those that hate Cpt Jack! ;)

Just put our deposit down for a trip to CA in March. We will be at DL on March 14th can't wait to meet everyone:) :) This will be our first trip to DL and CA

Congrats! Make sure you don't miss the DIS meets own POC cruise with the Cpt - something not to be missed! :rotfl: :lmao:

Wow , you could win the prize (if there was one) for the furthest distance traveled to a DIS Pirate Mini Meet ...

pirate:

Either that or she really has no clue what she's gotten herself into. Anyways, your in for a grand surprise.

Thank you - yes, today has been wonderful! From the time I parked my car to vote to when I left the parking lot was 4 minutes and 16 seconds. It was great! I live in a suburb and thought it would be more crowded, but they had tons of seats and tons of space to vote. Of course, it is Florida so maybe later we will hear that there was a problem. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

It took me 3 minutes to walk to mine, 8 minutes to wait in line while the guy checking people in flirted with the "young at heart gal" at the front of the line and about 3 minutes to vote. So all in all, it was pretty painless for me. Although I was late for an appt. But I voted - got my "I Voted" sticker on just to make others feel guilty. ;)

Later all!

Hi Jane,

No, I don't know why they do that; perhaps one of the more experienced cruisers could tell us??

I waited over 2 hours in line to vote this am. But I did vote!

Good for you for sticking it out! I brought two magazines with me, but my district was the only one with no line. The other districts had 10-20 people each!

I'm jealous! My polling place never has "I Voted" stickers!

Luggage scales really do come in handy! I carried mine in my carry on. It's interesting how much luggage weighs before you even put anything in it! I will be bringing mine along for sure on the TA! :thumbsup2

Where can you get a luggage scale? Seems like a good thing to have!

I got into the habit of asking for them when my college teacher would give extra credit for the sticker so now I ask for it if I don't see it.

You can find them at Target or any luggage store. Target has them for $10 but they only go up to 50 # which isn't bad. I paid $20 for mine at a Samonsite store because the hook to hold it be was a better quality and wasn't such an ordeal for me to hold it up. The other cheaper ones are fine but they are meant for a man to pick up. This other one is a bit sturdier and also converts to kilos and lbs.

Since your the Captain do you know if POC at DL will be open in March I thought I read somewhere that it was being refurbrished I hope not   I love POC:love: I have been know to make family and friends stand in line for over an hour just so I can get my fix:)

Hi Joanne!
I was given a gtd status also...do you know why we haven't gotten a room # yet?
I'm off to vote. My husband just said he only waited 30 minutes in line.
I hope I get so lucky.
I will check back later.
Jane

The idea of standing in line to vote just blows my mind, in the UK more than half the population completely ignore election day. I once waited in line 2 minutes to vote and nearly didn't bother

There has not been an official announcement of this yet or the date , Rumor has it in Early 2009 :confused3 wether or not if it is in March when we are there I dont know .... I know they are closing it to put in the new boats for the ride ....

We did the 7 night Western in February, using developer points that we got on the WBTA when we bought AKV!

The "Four Elements - A Mayan Adventure" excursion from Cozumel was fabulous. We snorkeled in an underground ceynote (is that redundant??), bicycled in Mayan farmland, ziplined at three different heights, and had a purification ceremony in a cave. It was memorable!!

Thanks Laura & Todd!

I'm definitely getting a scale for this trip!

I stopped by our polling location after work tonight. I was pleasantly surprised that it only took 17 minutes from the time I pulled into the parking lot until I pulled out! :goodvibes

...I also mentioned our Halloween Party...It was fabulous(Pig Roast and all), so we have decided to make that a tradition now that we have the pit in our yard....

Glad you had a great time! What a wonderful tradition for your family and your community!

Awe! The Captain has a big soft spot!

Congrats, Maureen!! I know you were really excited about the idea of doing this. I'm so thrilled you'll get the opportunity!

Glad you had a better day! Yet you should bite your tongue, missy! :rotfl:

I purchased mine at Bed Bath & Beyond. It's $10 there. I get 20% off coupons for their store a couple of times a month, so that seemed like a great deal. It does have the hook to pick up the luggage by a handle, a straight handled bar to pick it up, and even a tape measure.

Thanks Kimberly.
I never even thought of BB&B. I get those coupons all the time!
