I work in a science center...that looks like something we have in an exhibit!

That is what DH said!

It was in the furthest point in our pool away from the house. My husband saw it from the kitchen. It is HUGE!

From the kitchen! :scared1:

What did you do with it? Is it still there?

We put it in a really large plastic container. It is in the backyard. I figured DD could bring it in to show the class. I forgot though she is not going to school tomorrow so he is going to have to wait till Tuesday.

Our neighbor said that we should go to the pet store and buy him crickets. I don't feel that attached to him! :rotfl:

I have no idea what I will do with it after his school visit. If I let him go it will be MILES and MILES from our house! :lmao:

EEEWWW.
A spider that size would inspire me to MOVE!

I have decided that New England is a great place to live.
We don't have hurricanes, we don't have earthquakes, We don't have Tornados (except the freak one this summer) we don't really have poisonus snakes and our spiders typically stay smaller than a quarter.

So we have 5-6 months of cold and dreary weather... :lmao:

Hey there! Glad you're aboard with us! Just hop right on into the madness!

Glad to be here:thumbsup2 Well here goes :surfweb:

DD will also be missing about 3 weeks of 2nd grade. However school starts in mid-August so all the "getting started" routine will be done. I think we are going to miss conference week though - oops! Our older two will be Soph & Jr's in HS though and there is no way they can miss school. They know that Gma and Gpa will be staying here with them. They're bummed about missing the trip but also understand that they just can't miss classes.
We have pulled the kids out of school in the past (a tagalong trip w/ DH's business trip to Italy, May 2007 TA, family obligations) and their elementary teachers agreed with our decisions each time. HS is different though. It just moves too quickly and too important to miss.

Thanks for making my decision a little easier, even though he starts school a week before we'll leave.

:welcome: Aboard Mate , and your welcome for the Cuban ... looks like we may yet be having another together sometime in the not so distant future
pirate:

Sounds good! You bringing the mixer again?

individual gifts. Very light individual gifts:laughing:

I agree, very light and small individual FE's. Not like last time where we had a suitcase devoted to FE's :rolleyes1

I'm from Tennessee, so I don't think we have any candy that's strictly from here, but we do have lots of Elvis stuff and Jack Daniels! :lmao:

Little bottles of Jack would make a great FE!:thumbsup2

Okay...I went through several (not all) pages on the thread as well as the official Roll Call web page and made changes. So here's the updated list. ;) Some DISnames I found I added just so we can show they're part of the group. Of course it's not expected for everyone to give their real name if they don't want to. :)

Thanks for understanding me and being gracious about the updated list, Kathy!

The list looks great:thumbsup2 When we get closer to the sailing date I will gladly make a spreadsheet with everyone's name, room and other information for the FE exchanges. I made one for the five night double dip, not sure if everyone else thought it was useful or not:confused3 , but it made it easy for me to hit a deck at a time.

did I miss this list?

Buckeye Gal can you send it to me so I can update the website?

Sorry I missed it.

Good Saturday Morning !!:surfweb:

I hope you all have a great weekend. :woohoo:

I was thinking about the candy exchange or tasting and I think it is a great idea!!! Anything that has chocolate involved sounds good to me. I have been trying to think what kind of chocolate is associated with VA can't can't come up with anything. We are known for our peanuts. I know a lot of people have allergies to peanuts so I don't think that would be a good idea. I am originally from NY and we have Niagara candy, Gertrude Hawk(I think GH is originally from PA). I am still thinking of bringing the chocolate covered coconut squares that I found in Florida(seeing that I am down there so often I consider myself an honorary resident!!!!) Sorry to be rambling.

Karen

I wouldn't worry about peanut allergies, yet. Anyone who has a penut allergy can post it so we know who can't have it.

We were talking about taking my Grandpa to Shady Maple for his birthday today.
Hard pretzels,( Sturgis, Snyders, Unique) locally made potato chips,(Diefenbach, Utz), Wise Snacks, shoe fly pie, Tastykake, Chicken pot pie, Faschnachts, Bolonga, Yuengling, Heinz ketchup, rock candy, Just Born(Peeps, Mike and Ikes), water ice, pierogies, hard toy sugar candy are also some other local PA things.

No wonder I am overweight.;) :rolleyes1

Hmm... Shady Maple:rolleyes: Haven't been there in a long while. What a Smorgasbord:thumbsup2

Hi all
Love to be in on the candy swap, I'll bring the Cadbury's Curlywurlies.
How is everyone.

We had an earthquake here last night (worcester uk). Just a little one (3.6) shook my chair and the tv. We don't normally have many of these here.

The only other things I got going on with me is about 3 hrs of paperwork which needs to be done (preferably by tomorrow) which is why I'm on here successfully ignoring it.:thumbsup2

Just wanted to share what we found in our pool today! :scared1:

Our backyard is like Dr. Doolittle! We are always finding the craziest things back there!!!

We have had a few of his relatives around our pool in Florida. They were as big as the palm of your hand. We found them after we returned from a 7 day cruise. They had a nice egg sack there too with thousands of baby spiders in it:scared1:
I really didnt mind the spiders, it was the snakes all over our yard and front porch. I hated and those sneaky lizards that zip into your house the minute you open the door to go out.:lmao:

Kathy

Hey guys,

Someone on the main cruise board here said that they got a call from DCL letting them know that their total due would be less b/c the airfare price had gone down. This is someone who is cruising in 2010 too. Anyone else get a call from DCL?

I would LOVE to get that call today!

:scared1: Make sure you leave it at home!!!!!

Yeah, we don't want these in our FE!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

On our cruise I don't know if you would want a call regarding airfare. Several early morning bookers got amazing airfare and it was an error. DCL is sticking by the error pricing, but any change will results in an airfare change. eek!

WHERE WAS THE SPIDER WARNING????
Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!! That scared me so bad...I can't even repost the photo in my quote!!!
That would just about do me in, if I found that anywhere near me!! My kids would be on their own...because I'd be running ahead of them...lol

memo to self another reason not to ever move to FL.....only to visit WDW or DCL!! LOL

Yeah, we don't want these in our FE!! :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

not even funny!!!!!

Booking windows on most TA airlines have opened for September 2009, for the week we would be flying and the best deals all seem to head via Dublin from JFK, lol. Under USD $600 to BCN or under $525 to PAR (I am thinking about taking a train, instead of a hotel overnight in BCN.)

Hey everyone,

Thanks, Hadley, for jumping right on this. I am glad that everyone loved the lanyards on the Double Dip.....I did, indeed, volunteer to do them again for this cruise, too.

I will get the same lanyards only likely in a different color maybe...and I'll probalby shop around for some sturdier badge holders....the ones we got for the double dip were too thin and flimsy for my liking....and if we're going to be wearing them for a full 14 days (or in the case of us double dippers...24 days!!! ), we'll want them to stand up to wear and tear a little better.

So yes if you want to be a part of the lanyard team, then send a PM to Hadley (NHDisneylover). Being a part of the lanyard team means that once we get the list going and order the actual lanyards then all members of the "lanyard team" would split the cost evenly and then the lanyards will be our gift to our fellow cruisers. (On the Double Dip I think everyone ended up chipping in right around $25....however it depends on the number of lanyards we have to order and how many team members there are....but in the interest of space for the name badges I think we wanted last trip to keep it down to no more than 20 or 25 team members).

As for the lanyards themselves....I am going to set up a specific lanyards email account in the next week or so (once I get caught back up with real life), and then I will post the email addy. Everyone who wants to have lanyards made for them for the trip will be invited to send me an email at that account with their information (names, Dis names, room #, etc.) and I'll start getting that list going. We'll have to set a cutoff date at some point it won't need to be until much closer to the actual sail date.

Sound good?

You guys are fantastic! I'm in:thumbsup2 I sent a PM to Hadley.
It is a great ice breaker when you find someone with a lanyard and strike up a conversation.

:scared1: Wherabouts in Florida do you live? I would not want snakes just sliding through my house.
