Who has Cadbury Snack Biscuits? Jungle Jim's, an "international market" (really it's an attraction in and of itself!) used to carry them and now they don't.... I only had one but I LOVED it! They tell me Cadbury "Snack Shortcake" is what I'm remembering, but I KNOW there was a different one, with a different biscuit/cookie inside! :confused3

ETA: I googled, and it looks like I'm looking for "Cadbury Snack Sandwich" :teeth: , and it might be from Australia, instead of the UK? I thought I remembered purchasing in in the UK section, but I could definitely be wrong!

Do Vegas Chips work :confused3 You know chocolate thats covered to look like a poker chip :confused3 :lmao: :lmao: I think thats the only thing Vegas can offer as far as candy , but I am sure I could probably throw a rock out here and hit a girl named "Candy" or "Chocolate" or half a dozen other names that are associated with sweets ..:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Arizona has good prickly pear candy - you can get them at the Old Fashioned General Store on Pinnacle Peak and Pima. I don't know of anything else in Phoenix.

I brought 2 big boxes of candy on the 08 EB PC Repo and it took its tole as far as weight goes. One box had large bags of candy for kids club and cabin stewards, the other was Fish Extender gifts, which totaled 13 lbs in itself...LOL Could have something to do with having over 160 cabins involved in the gifting. Luckily we were local and could drive to the port to get on the ship, so it did not matter how much weight we took....only how much weight we brought home on the plane.
Depending on how many dis friends are involved, I would love to do it again.

I can't remember who commented recently from Florida, not knowing what candy they could bring from their state. On a previous trip to WDW, we did a candy exchange and one of the FL friends had the cutest crocodile candies, that us non Floridians thought were really fun!

Happy Friday to all!!
Of course its only 8:30am and I want a reeses PB cup!!

When will you be there in February? We will be there 2/1-2/8/09, after a Celebrity Solstice cruise and before a 4-day Wonder. We will be staying at Beach Club DVC.

Marilyn

Well, it figures. We're arriving on the 8th and staying at the AKV til the 13th. You have to let us know how you liked Celebrity. It's cool that you're kind of having a cruise sandwich with WDW in the middle.

We will be counting fudge as candy? We have an enitre island in Michigan devoted to fudge :)

Definately counts lol

I think I saw a special about Jungle Jim's on the Food Network a while back! It looks like a really neat place!!!

Just wanted to share a few photos from our visit today to the Happiest Place on Earth!

Stephanie, I love the photos from yesterday! It looks like the girls had the characters all to themselves. Those will be cherished photos for a lifetime!

Ditto!! How did you get so much personal time?

...I think the candy exchange sounds lovely--HOWEVER I am not putting my hat in the ring for anything else that means I will need to bring things across the Atlantic in an airplane until I know what my luggage allowances will be. Erik and I will likely be on hte edge with JUST the lanyards which I think we are going to try to split up among our groups. For the Double Dip he shipped them to Florida and the box was over 35 pounds. Being a dressy group I will also need room in my luggage for Tuxedos and formals so:eek: I may not have room for chocolate. Too bad there are some great things out there we can't get here. Who lives where you can buy Kindereggs? Marika and RIo love those. For me, our Australian exchange students used to bring a delicious Cadbury candy that was chocolate coated and had a sweet, crunchy, fluffy inside. I think they were called honeycombs. I adored them.

Copy me on this question. My brother was stationed in Naples for 3 years and used to send them to us whenever he could. I loved those!

The past 15 years or so (including as my boys have grown up), I've always traveled with my Mom. She always did so much for us that it just seems right that we should treat her when we can. Since she doesn't want to make this trip, I will more than likely be solo. I know that I'll have my oldest son and his fiance (who will be my DIL by that time) and all my DIS family, but I can say that having the cabin to myself might be interesting!

Gives you so much more room to spread out your stuff!! :thumbsup2

...I love the candy exchange, but I don't know what on earth I would bring from Florida. I know they have those orange slice candies, but I don't have anything really good like all of you. I am still partial to M&M's, but after all the other candy excitement, M&M's seem very boring. Anybody have ideas, I am up for it, but like Hadley, I need to check my luggage. I am determined to bring less clothes - although I think we will need sweatshirts and some heavy things. I am not one for formal night. My idea of a good time is a big pizza on Deck 9 looking out over the water with a bunch of friends so I can eliminate that for the candy - no problem!! I will take ideas or if anybody has been to Florida and likes something, let me know.

Then what are you going to wear your tiara with when we all dress up like princesses?? princess:

Its the chocolate. Over here the chocolate isn't the same at all! Ill have to try and bring some so we can compare and contrast lol ...

Mars Sticking To Same Chocolate Recipe

Manufacturing.Net - September 17, 2007

CHICAGO (AP) — The maker of M&M's and Milky Way bars says it would be a mistake to mess with its chocolate.

Mars Inc. said Monday it will continue using 100 percent cocoa butter in its U.S. chocolate products, bucking an industry campaign to allow cheaper vegetable oils to be substituted.

The announcement comes amid a push by a dozen food industry groups to change long-established federal standards to allow for replacing cocoa butter with another vegetable fat, up to a level of 5 percent. The groups say the change, which would save money for manufacturers, would allow more flexibility and innovation.

Manufacturers already can use vegetable fats instead of cocoa butter, but they are not allowed by the Food and Drug Administration to call it chocolate.

Mars, one of the largest chocolate manufacturers, disclosed the company's opposition to cocoa butter substitutes at the All Candy Expo in Chicago, North America's biggest candy trade show.

''Changing the definition of what chocolate is would be a mistake,'' said Todd Lachman, president of Hackettstown, N.J.-based Mars Snackfoods US. ''The bottom line is that we're not going to change our chocolate. Today, Mars US chocolate products are pure, authentic chocolate — and they're going to stay that way.''

The company could have saved millions of dollars by going along with the move, but allowing vegetable oil would have diluted the quality of its chocolate, he said.

Mars' products include M&Ms, Dove Chocolate, Snickers, Milky Way, 3 Musketeers and Twix.

U.S. chocolate manufacturers have been split on whether to back a change in chocolate standards. While the financial savings would be substantial, consumers and some within the industry have been outspoken in their support for genuine chocolate and not a cheaper substitute.

As recently as 2000, Mars said it would support allowing up to 5 percent vegetable fat to be used in chocolate.

The European Union has used a 5 percent ceiling since 2003.

Well there's our taste difference. I kept a close eye on this chocolate story when it came out because I wanted to know what was changing and what wasn't. Hershey's changed a few things - but thankfully not my Kisses!! :woohoo:

Well we have chocolate bars that many in the US can not get too. Like Coffee Crips. Yummy :) We have lots of cadbury products and we get kinder eggs too :)

So are we planning a candy exchange lol

I started to get excited when I saw "we" get kinder eggs too - then I noticed you're in Canada. Darn. :sad2:

I'm pretty sure that even as tiny as those girls are, that they would definately throw your suitcase over the weight limit. :lmao:

All this talk of candy is making me jones for some chocolate! For the life of me, though, I can't think of any sweet associated with Virginia. Suggestions?

Stephanie and Jennifer, your girls are just adorable! Love those Alice pics; it really looked like you all had the park to yourselves. Sweet!

Kathy, glad to hear Pixie has processed her problem. My Georgie girl decided to snack on a $20 bill that was on my nightstand the other day!?! WITW? At least it was small and didn't bother her insides (apparently it didn't taste that good; she left 2/3 of it). Who says we train our dogs? They train us, too. Mine has trained me not to leave anything where her very inquisitive nose and not too particular mouth can reach  . I think she eats these things because, at one time, maybe, it's possible it might have been near food once :rotfl: .

Hmmmm sounds like we should get a list of FE participants together on the website .... Would you like to be the one who gets that together ??? Or is someone else willing to Volunteer before we volunteer someone on our own ..:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

pirate:

I dont mind collate an FE list but Im away for the next few weeks so might get a bit behind im afraid. If anyone could collate it before then or if anyone else is willing to do it properly let me know

We will be bring a FE just not sure if Im making a new one yet.

And as I've offered before if anyone needs one made (and understands I can only do so many so first come first served) I can make some up for people. Just need some ideas about what material they would prefer or what colours/patterns. I made my sister one out of felt squares and it worked fantastically! We had mini mouse spots on the peices which was very cool.

OH just had a thought

UK candy will be available in Gibralter remember so if people want to try various things best then can get some stuff there

Annette, i have added your name to the list, its nice to meet another new friend:goodvibes

Sorry I wont be doing the candy exchange, I have a medical condition where I cant eat any candy and DH is diabetic, so he cant eat it either,

But count me in for a FE exchange. I have a cool pirate extender a friend made for me!!! I love doing extender gifts:woohoo:

Kathy

I will do the candy exchange - any ideas from AZ?

Well, I am sitting here reading the thread and my DS walks up as a post from Buckeye Gal comes up and he gets very excited - "HEY, she is on our cruise again - that's cool! - HEY wait (as he looks at the cruise banner with the flags) only one stop at Castaway Cay - what a rip!!"....

:lmao: Well I hope THIS TIME I get to meet you guys, too! I agree...one stop at CC does stink!

Arizona....how about prickly pear cactus candy?

....We don't have any Harry London chocolate around here... I totally didn't even know it was from Ohio!

It's sold nationwide, but I'm sure it is limited. In fact, it's sold on QVC. (You should all know...I'm a QVC Queen. I get so much stuff from them that ranges from vitamins to shampoo and from pillows to camcorders!)

I believe the original Harry London factory is located in Canton, Ohio. I've always wanted to take a factory tour there, but never have. I was SOOO bummed when they closed the retails stores down in the Columbus area. Caramel is my FAVORITE candy, and NO ON makes it better than HL! It's expensive, but well worth the taste!

...I can't think of any sweet associated with Virginia. Suggestions?...

Okay....this may be a stretch, but someway, somehow, I'll try to make a connection sound legit! When I think of Virginia, I think of Colonial times. We have here a historical place called the "Ohio Village". I think of those multi-flavored striped candy sticks or horehound drops that are in abundance there. Not extremely exciting and certainly a stretch, but I love both! I think licking a candy stick beside the Quiet Cove in the sunshine like you do with a candy cane sounds excellent.

Aren't peanuts a staple in Virginia? If so, peanut brittle would be yummy!

Kathy

I know you cant have candy but we have some great diabetic sweets over here. Do they do a nice range with you guys or does it tend to be a little bland? My Grandfather was diabetic and he loved the diabetic chocolates we got in a shop called Thorntons over here

I can bring either see's or jelly belly...both are california candies.....and yummy.

Add me to the klutz list for segway and scrapbooker too!

Stephaine, Angie and Dennis, took me to the See's outlet after the Repo and I still have my little box, just the scent of the candies is left, lol. I have been rationing my See's butterscotch candies, still have about half the box left, yummy.

I will pay for Jelly Belly flops, Mar on the Repo left that suitcase at home, I was so disappointed, lol.
