I belong to a Bunco group that has been playing for almost 20 years!!! We started when my youngest was in Little League and he'll be 28 this year! We've "altered" the rules a bit from what is shown on wikipedia but the most important aspect is that it's a night out once a month!!!!

At this point - no. I'm currently flying solo for now (except that Amy and Dave will be right next door to me!). She babysits her great grandson (his Mom is a teacher) and she doesn't want to take two+ weeks off and leave them stranded. Tried to talk my sister into going but she says her daughter would kill her if she went without the family and they can't take the kids out for two weeks (actually the oldest boy would be in his first year of college and the girl will be a junior in HS). I'm hoping to talk my youngest son into going along but since he has never cruised - he thinks he will be bored as he likes to be active. I've tried to talk him into it but at this point - it's too far away for him to consider. :confused3 I've decided I'm going no matter who goes or doesn't go! :thumbsup2 I still have plenty of DIS family on board! :grouphug:

I am traveling solo on this trip. My sister(reenieny) and her family usually go with me but that is the start of my nephews' senior year in high school and it would be difficult for him to catch up. I did not want to miss this TOAL #2!! 1St being EB Repo thru Panama Canal this past August. I am very comfortable traveling alone. I go to WDW alone several times a year. I am going solo in January to spend my birthday with Mickey!

For those of you who have done the segway tour, if "someone" lacks grace, balance, and coordination, do you think "this person" would be capable of handling a segway?

I mean, this person CAN hula hoop, jump on a pogo stick, and ride a bike, but "someone's" husband is still embarrassed by her abysmal performance on an ATV tour of St. Kitts when she managed to run herself amok into the sugar cane fields and had to abandon her ATV and ride on the back of her husband's ATV instead.

:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: Very funny!! I would like to know the answer to this as well as I am not the most coordinated person either!!

Krista

I want to know more about the Segway tours too. Ever since I saw GOB on Arrested Development ride one around, I have wanted to try it! :lmao:

I am not the most coordinated person either; in fact, I'm somewhat accident-prone, but I'm DYING to do it!

I asked how much it costs, but no one answered (this is a FAST moving thread)! Anyone know?

I think it's 60 euros pp.

I loved Gob and AD! I was so sorry that that was cancelled so soon. Still hoping that they'll make their movie though!

I did look at the Segway website's FAQs, and all it said was they are fairly easy to learn to manuever. "Fairly" being the relative term I'm concerned about! :rotfl:

YAY! Another AD fan! :woohoo:
I'm still waiting on that movie too!!

60 euros? Not too bad! can't wait!

:lmao: :lmao: I would like to know this also as I have a "friend" that has similar problems:lmao: :lmao: and she cannot even hula hoop or jump on a pogo stick. :rotfl2:

Well it seems we have something besides scrapbooking in common.

We are all clutzes:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Add me to that list too!! I know I would break my neck. Someone mentioned a small staircase, NO WAY!! This lady would tumble all the way down:rotfl2:

DH and I have done Segways too many times to count, all over the place.... we are so addicted! Believe me, if we ever move to a place where they are more practical, we will buy two immediately! :rotfl:

To be fair, I don't have balance or coordination issues to speak of - but I find them INCREDIBLY intuitive. The people I've ridden with all agree that they are much easier than people expect. In fact, I think people struggle more when the over-analyze or "try too hard", if that makes sense.

If you're interested in trying them but don't want to take any chances or be too unsure when we're in Barcelona, look for a local tour. They're bound to be much cheaper, usually MUCH more personal and therefore would go at whatever pace you want, and would give you a good feel ahead of time. Be warned though, they're totally addicting! :thumbsup2

ETA: You can search segway.com for a "dealer near you", and many times the dealer will have a personal website that will tell whether tours are offered. Personally, I would just suggest googling "Segway Tours Chicago/Toronto/etc" .... I bet you'd be surprised. We have 3 local tours now (pretty much out of nowhere) -- one in Cincinnati which I would expect, but also 2 in Northern Kentucky, which shocks me!

Do it, it will be fun! :yay: Then, we'll have lots of company in Barcelona! :teeth:

Another klutz here! I have torn my ACL 3 times...yes, I know I only have two legs, but I tore the ACL once, had it reconstructed and then tore it again. It's fixed, however I have a completely torn right ACL that I'm going to have fixed in January. I'll be on the Dis a lot during that time! LOL!!!! I'm hoping 3 times is a charm! :)

Segways sound like fun though. Overall, I do have good balance - I've been dancing for 26 years! That is how I tore my ACL all three times, but three serious injuries in 26 years isn't too bad!? :scared1: LOL!

I was finally able to put the banners in my signature and ticker countdown.

I am so happy I will not have to walk to plank! Whew!!!!pirate:

Hi all!!
I've been watching this thread since I posted early on that we had booked it, but have been in denial about posting more, because we booked this cruise "with hopes" of going and I didn't want to make a bunch of wonderful friends and then have the possibility of not being able to go! Well heck...its so much fun already...we will have to go no matter what happens! LOL

It totally reminds me of the TOAL EB PC cruise thread....which was nearly impossible to keep up with but so much fun! We had an amazing website for that one too, which made it so much easier to find info and links that got buried so quickly. It also made it really fun to plan activities. Stephanie...your site reminds me alot of it, so thank you so much for all your creativity!

Somewhere recently were postings about scrapbooking....which I love to do! I just started scrapping the 08 EB PC cruise and love reliving every moment of it! We had an amazing scrapbooking swap on one of our sea days, and I got some of the most amazing swap items that I have already began using in my album. If there are a bunch of us scrapbookers, this would be a blast to do again!

Bunco??? I love Bunco! Can't wait to read more about that

The Barcelona Glides, look amazing. I have done segways in WDW 3 times and DCA once and love them, so this will be a must do for us.

The Gibralter picture is amazing.
The monkeys scare the you know what out of me.....I would not enjoy that part at all!

Kathy can you add us on your list?
4fosterkids
Jill (me) and Steve DH
we are booked alone right now, but I waffle back and forth whether to bring the kids. I would really like to take this one without them, but not sure how we would pull off leaving them for such a length of time. My DS15 is disabled, and although doing well at this point in time, who knows how he will be in 2010, so it is a grand feat to get family & possilbe RN care for him. We do have family all around us, but it is still a concern that wears me out. We are limited to what we can do when they do come with us, so it would be nice to do what we want, when we want......like join our fellow pirates for adult activities this time! LOL

Its so fun to see so many previous cruisers, and great to meet so many new fun cruise friends!! We are booked on the 6/27/10 Wonder 5 day double dip with 20 other members of our family. I have been watching a few of the Tortola cruises next April & May for our 25th wedding anny, but haven't booked yet!

Howdy, neighbor!

Which one of us is packing the anti-venom for this trip?

I still have some Moro Bars, Perky Nana, and Chocolate Fish from our visit to NZ. Yum!

Woody

I should definitely have mentioned chocolate fish! Thanks for the reminder.

Not only are they edible, they are a commonly used in NZ culture as a reward. If someone does something noteworthy, you give a chocolate fish to acknowledge it or even just say "you deserve a chocolate fish".

I hope you feel better soon! Being sick is no fun!

The pineapple snack looks really good! I love pineapple whether it is fresh or dried. I miss the pineapple I had every morning for breakfast on the Magic!

I don't like them personally - I love real pineapple though. Pineapple lumps are a candy - like a firm marshmallow (pineapple flavoured) and covered in chocolate. I don't mind the taste but I don't like the texture.

Perhaps we should have a candy/chocolate swap on the cruise? Everyone could bring bags of "snack" size bars and we could meet and swap? I think Pinky bars are NZ specific too.

That would be really fun! I know Pearson's Salted Nut Rolls and Nut Goodies are two types of candy started in Minnesota.

Oooh...that sounds interesting!

Thank you! Wedding planning is going well...I think we may have a reception site, so I'm very excited about that! I can't wait to start looking for my dress!

Is your mom coming with you on this trip?

That is great news about the reception site!! Mom is on the reservation, but I think I will end up being solo as her and my dad are looking at a big trip that year and my dad is not into cruising. Most of my friends just can't get two weeks from their jobs back to back or look at me like I'm crazy because I have a vacation planned this far in advance (what do they know!). We loved the cruise mom got a bad skin infection (had to hit the medical center on the ship) in Cozumel so we laid low the last few days, but we just loved it!! When I modified my reservation the DCL rep said I should add a 2nd adult now because if I do it later it would be at the prevailing rate for the cruise. The DCL rep said I could modify the name for the 2nd adult at anytime and that if it is just me solo (which I think it will be) that I can take the 2nd adult off and my prevailing rate would be the single supplement from the date I booked.

Hi Gang,
I haven't posted - been busy and today I went to the doctor to find out I have severe bronchitis. Yuk!!

I hope you feel better soon have lots of popsicles! My mom got bronchitis after we arrived home from our trip and her doctor said she probably got it from the plane ride.
Oh me too! On the WBPC we pretty much depleted the pineapple supply.

Which reminds me....think they'll have enough Mickey Bars :mickeybar for us. As I recall they ran out on the WBTA last time! :scared1:

I only had one on the last cruise I totally forgot about them! I hope they have an ample supply this time!
ok, I figured there was something I wasn't getting.....but still, haven't had dessert at Taco Bell either....oh except for a Choco Taco, ice cream, wrapped in a waffle cone, all in a taco shape.

You have the Choco Taco in SF? We don't have that here in MN, but I attempted to order it a few years ago after having it at a Taco Bell out of state and I think they thought I was crazy at the drive thru window while my friend just laughed hysterically.

I'm flying solo currently too! Your mom was so wonderful to meet:goodvibes She was so good at the Fued as well! That is very sweet of her to take care of her great grandson! I agree there will be a fabulous group of Disers on board:thumbsup2
