When Len telephoned and said he wanted to rebook and cancel, they said that we MIGHT get an onboard credit, len said just cancel and rebook, she went away, then said they would just adjust the balance due and credit the fuel supplent.

Thankyou for posting this info

Ugh! I wish we could do that but if I was to cancel our ressie we would lose our OBC and 10% (we rebooked on board and then transfered the ressie to this cruise).

I did see this info on the Passporter boards about the fuel surcharge being cancelled:

Existing reservations....if your price is still the same you can "rebook" and not pay the supplement. If you are booked AND THE FARE HAS INCREASED - during the second week of the previous quarter (ie around Dec. 18 for Jan - March 2009) if oil is below $70 a barrel your supplement will be refunded via a shipboard credit.

So now it makes me wonder if we are going to have to wait until August 2010 to find out if we'll get any kind of a OBC.

not working for me, I am on the phone right now, this is crazy!

OK, I've been reading all this while working, so it hasn't gotten 100% of my attention...but, if they will possibly be giving us an OBC...why rebook? (especially if the fule charge may come back) Heaven knows, over two weeks there would be plenty of photos, adult beverages, smoothies and excursions to spend the money on.

Am I missing something?

I should have been more clear that the lanyards are a "labor of love"....
I think we know you weren't complaining; just clarifying that it is time-consuming.

FUEL SUPPLEMENT:
Are they really adjusting our rates 2 years out? What if oil prices fluctuate between now and then? Is the supplement going to come off and get put back on again?

We are definitely sounding like a family already, everyone with an opinion and willing to express it. At times, though, we might seem like those individuals on "Lost," who aren't quite sure who the leader is or should be.

It sounds like we all want the best trip possible, and by then we should have a pretty good idea of the personalities we are trapped - I mean traveling - with.

Where's Tink2020?

I checked out her Picassa album - the one-month pictures of her twins are precious, done in an Anne Geddes style.

Jennifer - I was impressed that you carried them to 36 weeks and they were 5 pounders; that is fantastic. And I am impressed with the Disney marathon - how many have you done?

Lynne

They have been pretty busy. They were away visiting relatives for the holidays and some of the relatives were sick and her clan is now sick. It started out with Kyle and then the girls got it.

Since she has a web blog that tells of where she did for T'day and that the twins were sick - it's not like you are divulging closely guarded secrets.

Thanks. Someone else who posts a lot is missing too. I think it is momx4... seems to me she (or another frequent poster) is or was just on a cruise.

Hi everyone!

I had a lovely weekend (I work Tuesday-Saturday so today was my Sunday) and I wish it wouldn't be over!!!! Well it was lovely except for the fact that I scheduled my ACL reconstruction for January 7th. It will be my third ACL reconstruction so it's nothing new for me. I want to be 100% healed by my wedding in October!

Hope all is well! :)

If you want to leave books for CM, make sure you leave a note that directs your Stewart to take the books. Without a direct note they can't keep them.

Pj
I've also done this with clothing I've left behind. I would leave a note, "I have not forgotten this suit, dress shirts and neckties. I am leaving them behind. Please give these to someone who who could use them."

No Jackie you are not missing anyhting!

I think the key word is possibly/maybe/probably (well maybe more than one)

If the on board credit was a definate I ould not have bothered.

Woody, that a good idea.
Thanks for the lirary info folks

Yes they def removed it on our reservation, I was going to cancel and rebook and they offered to remove it, I did wonder if they would be able to put it back on, they said no! but seems it depends who you get on the phone, I have always thought they were inconsistant with info, I know this from our last meet thread. Some folks got info re rotations some didnt, just stuff like that.

It's been awhile since I posted(we've been busy getting ready for the holidays'-my very favorite time of the year). But I am glad I logged on this morning. I wouldn't have thought that the price would go any lower. That is great to hear. So...all we have to do is call to get it removed? I will do that today.
Thanks for the info, Jane

The fuel has to stay nelow $70 a barrel for 2 WHOLE quarters. I asked if it went to $71 on one of those 2 qurters would be get it the OBC, she said no!

So basically I can get about $95 back right now by rebooking or I do nothing and hope to get the OBC. At this point I think the better gamble is to wait bc $490 (for our 2 rooms) is better then $95 now.

I am just disappointed that they are even doing this!

The colored cording is what always catches my eyes for spotting fellow DISers. I figure if I am so picky about the name tag part, I can make and bring my own with my design. Anyone else who has a preference can do the same and save Erik the time and effort, also. But I want that colored cord to still be a part of the group.

Just like a pirate, I play outside the rules of society.

I think that is a great idea. I think, largely for simplicity's sake and also so no one will feel left out, Erik will still make name badges for all the lanyards (not that I have asked Erik about this--I am assuming). But, knowing Erik, I cannot imagine that he would be in the least bit bothered if you, or anyone, replaces their badge with something of their own making:thumbsup2

I apologize for the way my post concerning the lanyards came across. I in no way intended to minimize the work involved because I know it is very time consuming or offend anyone with my thoughts. I commend anyone willing to take on this challenge. Erik, thank you for your well thought out response and am sorry if I offended you. I did not intend to start anything negative on this thread, I was just giving my thoughts and as I re-read my post, I did it poorly.

I will contribute to the cost of the lanyards and help in any other way possible.

Donna

Donna:hug: no worries. I am sorry if my post came across as overly upset. My feelings were hurt (yes totally odd because it had nothing to do with me--I certainly do not design the lanyards:lmao: no one wants that--trust me), but I really meant it when I said I was sure you did not intend to come across as abrasive. I know how very easy it is to have the wrong tone come across in a quick post. I am thrilled you still want to be a part of the lanyard team, but I do not think any of us would think any less of you if you decided to spend your money on some other project where you get to let your creative juices flow either. Anyway, I think it may be that many of us (you included based on how you took Erik's orginal lanyard description post) may be a bit oversensitive on this thread at the moment based on the actions of one or two and it is spilling over into how we react to others (or maybe that is just me:upsidedow )

I gave up on finding all the posts I want to reply to (can't do so at work and worked all day yesterday) but here are a couple of other things I wanted to say:

Stephanie (Brooklynn): I LOVE the website and truly appreciate all the hard work and money you have sunk into it. I am actually glad you posted about the cost because I am not so tech savvy and never thought about the cost before--though I reconized it must take tons of time from the get go:rotfl: so--a giant THANK YOU to you for that. I also want you to know that I love:love: the flag design you came up with and the special customized version of it you made me for the signature. I was truly stunned at Todd's outburst about that logo. which brings me to. . .

Todd (DisneyVegas): Thanks for starting this thread and getting the ball rolling. It was nice to have a place to call home as soon as I booked on that very first day the window opened. I am sorry you are annoyed by my signature logo and do not consider it to be the "true" logo. Ironically I only have it because I felt so very pressured from you to put a logo in my signature (something I have always been too lazy to bother with before). I guess I came into the thread thinking it was for and about us all and we could all do what suited ourselves best. This is how it has been on every other thread on the DIS I have been a part of. Anyway, I just want you to know I am not trying to irritate you, I am just trying to be ME (which is not really someone who is a part of your "crew" I guess--but I am a part of this cruise so I think I still have a right to be here, don't you?).

Fuel Surcharges: Thanks everyone for watching out for this. My head is spinning trying to keep up with the issue:headache: Having everyone post what is and is not working for htem and how the information they get as they get it is spo helpful and somethins I just I love about these threads.:thumbsup2

Lanyard transport and the cost of living in Europe:rolleyes1 Well, let's see if we can get soem paperwork on this possible job for Dave and then I may be able to give a first hand account of the cost of living differences and surely we can figure out how to get the lanyards across the pond if I have an address there;) All of your good thoughts and pixie dust have been MUCH appreciated and we are STILL waiting to see any kind of anything about details (you know, silly things like salary), BUT we are told that is very common in international moves and the company is flying all of us to GERMANY to look at apartments and schools next week:woohoo:  Keep the good thoguths comming our way if you can spare any:flower3: and I'll keep you all posted (by posting:rotfl2: ) if I get any further news.

Have a great day everyone:goodvibes

That sucks:confused3

I have just checked my reservation online and it has most definatly had the surcharge removed.

Now if I was not calling from scotland I would phone and see if they would take it from the east bound cruise(that we are not doing) just for the sake of it.
We booked the cruise at a slightly higher rate than you, so maybe the threat and hassle for them to cancel and rebook was taken more serious??

Ive said it before and I will say it again, I have always found them inconsistant on the phone.

VERY INCONSISTANT!!!! The manager I spoke to today though was really nice. Her hands are tied until the high ups make a better decision! SOOOOOO frustrating!

The crazy thing though is that you are now paying less then me and I booked before you! lol!!!

Right now I am hoping out faith that they will make this right.

fingers crossed you will get onboard credits!
Dont you just love how they say "have a magical day" at the end of the call!!!
Yeh, you too, i was just worried they would take it of the wrong cruise:rolleyes1 that would be typical.

Out of interest, when we cancel the other cruise, does anybody know if we can just mover the money on that cruise to this one? just that the dollar was a bit better.

I didnt know there was a library!!!!:confused3

My last cruise i lost my book after reading threequarters of it. I went to guest services and asked if they had it, they had hundreds of books(not mine;) ) obviously, the nice man, said that when people finish them they leave them around the place but they cant throw them out, he said did I want one? hee hee, I said thanks but better not! then I thought what a waste!

They keep the books in Cove Cafe and open up the library (bookcase lol) on sea days mainly then on the last day for people to return books. There collection isn't huge by any means but any left onboard end up in there

I got an email from our (WONDERFUL) travel agent last night about the changes in charges and increased tax. I replied to her immediately and asked her to tell me in plain English what it all meant for me and my bottom line! :lmao: Her response to me is below:

Basically this means that there will be an additional $7.57 taxes added per person for the TA cruise.

BUT…if the fuel supplement return holds (it all depends if the gas prices stay low like they are now) then you will be rebated back the cost of the fuel supplement as a shipboard credit for the cruise. If the price of oil rises above the $70 a barrel mark then the Disney will keep the fuel supplement in place that is already part of the price you were quoted for the TA cruise and you will not be given the cost back as a shipboard credit.

Bottom line is that you WILL have an additional $7.57 per person added to your TA cruise price. That’s a done deal. Plus you MAY have your fuel supplement rebated back to you as a shipboard credit. We will have to wait and see what happens and since this is so far out there is no need to worry one way or another right now.

Based on that information, Jason and I decided to just let it go and hope for the OBC. But at this point we've already worked out our budget to afford this trip (and the last Med before it because we're doing B2B) and so we've already planned on paying fuel charge...so we'll leave it there to be safe...and the added tax is a drop in the bucket compared to the total price of the trip(s). We're just going to hope for an onboard credit and then we can feel like Disney gave us a present!! ;)

Is it just me or dont you think it is a but cheekythey are not just reducing our cruise price????

I am just going to cancel and rebook:confused3

actually, I am going to rebook then cancel:rotfl:

lol I agree it is cheeky but $400 onboard credit sounds nice too and Im not sure I want to rebook as a GTY
