I will be calling DCL but that's because I have a reservation for 2009 that I will be changing to this cruise. The last 2 repos, I told my TA my preferences (category, room numbers, dinning, etc) and she was able to book exactly what I wanted so it worked out fine. The only problem with this was that she was so busy booking for everyone that I didn't know until later in the afternoon whether or not she was able to get me on the boat.
Based on your statements, I think you'd be best to try to book online, you'll get a little stateboard credit and will be able to take advantage of the 50% off deposit promotion. You could also call at the same time and see which gets through first. Booking for the PC cruises this summer was crazy, the website clogged, people on hold with DCL for 4-5 hours, but those cruises sold out that first day. I do not expect the 2010 cruises to sell out and I do not expect booking to be as crazy, although there will still be long waits.
Don't know about the differences in category costs. I always book a Cat 11 because that's all I can usually swing and I'm fine with it. It would be nice to have a porthole or balcony but it is not neccessary for me.
Oh, we started the thread back when other DISrs first found evidence that DCL was going to Europe. Many of us knew we were going to try for the TA back.
Thank you for your input! I feel so lost, and I hate that feeling considering I never am with WDW!

We sailed Cat 11 in the past as well and were totally fine with it, but I'm curious how much more then 10 or 9/8 would be, considering the cruise is so long and we'll be twice as many people.
I think I'll try online, and call as well... maybe just with a list of ideal rooms, etc (and a budget!
