The more I read on these boards, the luckier I feel knowing you all and traveling with you. Nobody is perfect in this world and we all have little quirks. Hey I am the weirdo that already has the departure stickers made out! I am sure I can be labeled something. YOU ARE ALL GREAT AND DON'T LET ANYBODY TELL YOU DIFFERENTLY - QUIRKS AND ALL! I enjoy reading the boards more then sitting around the table with some family members. I have had a rough day - after that wonderful closing on Friday and my dog needs surgery next Monday, my tax bill came and was $5,000 more then budget AND Abby stabbed herself with a pencil! I cannot take all of this! Thank you for making me smile!
Dont think we will get lucky with an upgrade this time , even though I think the ship will have less people on it ...We have connecting 9's so I doubt there will be a move up , but im good with it ..

That's why we are here - our family away from family. Only our DIS family can understand and accept our quirks and OCD tendancies. Glad you have someone to talk too!![]()
Hi Guys! Its Laura AKA eeyorelvr10
Let me pass on some of my experiences to help you all:
1. The more info you put in your entry to Pam or myself is better for your SM. Remember, if you don't give out info, you may get some gift where your left wondering. I hope I don't offend anyone but the most successful SM's are the ones that have been given a long list of things to work with. I would suggest that you include a favorite hobby, color, collections, etc. Anything you like - for instance, using me as an example - I love Wizard of Oz, I would put green, Oz, photography, souvenirs.
which brings up another point:
2. Don't forget the option of picking things up from any port of call. What I have done in the past is take one nice gift - usually the last one (for reveal or just before) and then pick up some others in port. It doesn't have to be anything big, just a small momento as sometimes we tend to forget to pick ourselves up something. I.E. - on the EB PC - I picked up local "candy carmel lollipops" for my SM. Just a small inexpensive momento from the terminal. Nothing superexpensive yet a reminder from the port. A magnet, a small writing pen, etc.
3. Also, if you are allergic to anything, i.e. - peanuts - best to please state that up front. I had a case where one of the persons on the SM was deathly allergic to peanut and by-products of peanuts and you'd be surprised at what some stuff had in it - products of peanuts, etc.
4. If you prefer to have your gifts from the ports, state that. I had a lady specifically ask for small trinkets from the ports. She liked the idea of being surprised.
5. We ask, OK - Pam asksteeth
that if for some reason you cannot deliver a gift by the 3rd-4th day that you please contact Pam for an explanation. I had a case where one child did not receive one gift until the 12th day of the cruise. It was a bit sad, but it worked out in the end. The SM made up for it at the end but the poor child went through the whole cruise thinking that their SM didn't want them. To avoid this, please attempt some kind of contact, whether it be a small note or a gift.
I had a fantastic SM - Thanks P!- she thoroughly surprised me and was so gracious - she wrote a note to me on each gift and intrigued me even more as to her identity. Gave me some wonderful ideas on how to handle my next SM. (Names have been blocked out to protect their identity in case they sign up again!) In fact, one time, I opened my door as she was about to deliver and I did not even guess the reason she was there. It was my
moment. But you got me!

6. If you draw a blank on info for yourself, don't be afraid to add on to it later. Just send a quick PM to Pam and it can be passed on down/added later. Remember, the more info you have, the more custom gifts you will get catered to what you want.
7. If for some reason, you want to join as a couple, please do so. You will be assigned as "one person" meaning our SM will have the option of buying either one of you a gift. Some ladies did this on the cruise I was on as they knew their spouse would not participate but they wanted them to be included. It worked out well, but keep in mind that your SM is not obligated to get both of you a gift - this gives them an option to get one or the other or switch off between the two. If this is the case, then you will also need to provide some likes and dislikes for them also.
Above all else, this is for fun, is lots of fun and makes for many wonderful and Magical memories. If you have any concerns, just ask Pam or myself. We are both full of ideas and can help guide anyone should they need it.
Please don't let the weight restrictions stop you from signing up. There are lots of places in Barcelona that you can buy trinkets from. Las Ramblas is just a short taxi ride away and they have numerous stores right by the waterfront and along the street for souvenir gifts. Gibralter is also the same way. Don't know about the other stop as they are new stops. But its amazing the creativity of some people - I'm constantly amazed at the goodheartedness of everyone and the thought they put into gifts. They put me to shame!![]()
So please, if your considering it - please do it - its tons of fun and a wonderful way to get to meet many new friends. In fact, this is one way that I came to know Tracy (my SM from 11-Night) and P (from EB PC) and a few others. You just never know when you find a special friend - huh Pam?![]()
Remember - send your detailed info to Pamand she'll handle it all!

Your a wealth of information for a newbies at SM giving. You've already got me to thinking of some ideas and I dont even know anything about the person I will have![]()
Kathy
Kathy - that is the fun of the SM - the anticapation at times will kill you. Also, it helps if others have done this before. The reveal is usually held on one of the last sea days and won't usually take more than 45-1 hr. Assuming everyone gets there on time. I blocked out about 1 hr of time and even got a room for us to use for the reveal. Other ideas - and this is not just for SM but for FE's is to check out the Dollar Tree stores for goodies. Sometimes you find amazing stuff there. Of course, once you have your SM, that's when the fun really begins.
On the last cruise, I had a SM who was crazy into scrapbooking. Being a supernovice and newbie to it - I picked up a really nice, heavy-duty, small scrapbook with refill pages and some stickers and embellishments and wrapped that up to give as her last gift. You'd be amazed at what you can pick up on sale or clearance that allows for more gifts. Then along the way, I picked up some magnets, a token gift from the ship, something to just drop off about every 2-3 days. Just enough to keep her on her toes. I even "decorated" her door with some of her favorites - so please don't feel like your only option is to get 5 gifts - its your choice - as time can get away from you - some people prefer to do it the minimum requirement of 5 and some prefer to give out every other day. It gives us something to continually check our FE for! BTW, I still use my Mickey Mouse coffee cup and my Mickey dish towel - although the kids do this: :rolleyes when they see it hanging from the dishwasher. They are embarrassed by their mom having this DIS Obsession.

ATTENTION ATTENTION
I know alot of you are already starting to wonder " How the heck am I going to get all this stuff across the pond with all these luggage restrictions:" IE fish extender gifts , Pirate costumes and so forth , well .. Let me tell you from experience , the lighter your bag , the more things you can pack ...Last TA we did we bought duffle bags , and these worked perfect .. they were tuff we were able to pack alot of stuff in there ...they lasted cause we used them also on the EBPC repo this year and they are somewhat cheap ... So if you are thinking about redoing your luggage you might wanna give these a shot ... They worked for us perfectly ... Here is a link
Wheeled Duffle Bag
Oh and by the way ... we were able to stuff 5 of these under one bed in a cat 6 on the EBPC the almost fold down flat.. try to do that with 5 suit cases LOL ...so easy storage too
