Chocolate bars etc really do weigh a lot .... especially when you add them all together. For this reason we have decided to buy ours in Morissons in Gibraltar, as no way could we fit it into our weight allowances. Can you not get some of it into your carry on bags to save on the weight issues. I know I will be trying to put my heaviest items in the carry-ons. Even my FE gifts which I thought were lightweight, are not so light weight when you add them all together

I finished packing my suitcase today and I think it weighs about 17kg so pretty good all things considered. I have a few last minute items to pop in but otherwise, I'm good to go

Have just heard about the quake this morning, so scary, pleased that you and your family are OK and managing to get through. Seems to have been a lot of damage by what the TV are showing,

Lots of damage and the cost they are estimating will be billions of dollars. Many homes are uninhabitable and will need to be demolished.

Oh God Paula! Thank God you're going on holiday soon with all this stress! Does your mum fly on Monday?

Glad to hear all of you are ok and few major injuries reported. Those of us in California sympathize and understand. It will get better but has left a permanent memory. My heart stops for a moment when a large truck goes by the house and the house shakes, that seems normal now. val

Its just over 2 hours since the last aftershock. About 4 hours ago we had a 5 on the richter scale so I think thats shaken something into place (wishful thinking?). We have had 30 quakes since just after midnight.

For those of you who read Laura's report on the Aerobus, are you considering changing your plans from a taxi to Praktik Rambla to the Aerobus instead? At 5.05 euro pp that's a heck of a lot less than a $50 euro taxi ride (for 2 of us). Marc's not too hot on it as we arrive at 9:30 on Wednesday evening, but.....(I'm getting real cheap in my old age).

As Laura, said the taxi cost is per cab rather than per person. I like the idea of the convenience of arriving to the door of my hotel rather than a central stop and then having to find the hotel - particularly after a 33 hour flight. Normally I'd take an aerobus but I'm making an exception this time.

Not a chance. There is no way in this world I'm going to schlep all my luggage and carry ons onto a bus. I wouldn't do it if it were free. As soon as I'm through customs I will be looking for a porter (skycap, man with cart, don't care what you call him, he will take my luggage) to the taxi. The taxi driver will load my stuff into the trunk and will place it in front of the hotel. I am bringing more than I can carry so I'll need help!!!

You are a woman after my own heart. I not only have bags for bags, I have wine diapers. No rolling cooler this time but plenty of bags that can be carried on board. I can just imagine the Barcelona porters rolling their eyes when they see me coming. I am thinking I can find a rolling bag for all my goodies at the El Corte Ingles or Caprabo or one of the other grocery stores..

Love the wine diapers.

I found when we sailed in the Walt in 2007 that the on board concierge was much more helpful and responsive that the land concierge who took many days to get back to me. The things that the land concierge said were not possible "magically" were taken care of once we were on board.

My DH keeps telling me, remember Noel, we are going on VACATION!!! I have schedule a mani/pedi for the two of us the morning of the 13th so I can decompress!!

We will be having our stressful weekend this weekend as we do the final packing. I don't care how wrinkled things get, I just want to get them into the suitcase and weighed!!

Ohgosh I've been so stressed about other life stuff (that you know about) and now I've got some of that still going on plus hurry and get ready for this vacation!

Everyone else- sorry I haven't been around much and I know I'm missing a ton! A few of you know why... I've basically not been home for 2wks- one in a town a few hours away helping her deal with chemo, and she'd moved there recently for nursing job and has no friends/family except me! I came home on Fri and then on Sunday midday I had to go back- my aunt (the sister of my father who passed last november, both outlived by parents who are in their 80's but it's all on grandmother... grandfather has alzheimers and doesn't know.) had an aneurism (sp?) she was kept alive on life support until mid-week so she could donate some of her organs- some of which saved a 21yr old in Dallas that same night. sigh.... that would have made her happy (she was 53) but I'm most concerned grandmother can take all this losing 2 children in their 50's within 9 months of one another ... and aunt's daughter she raised alone who is only 26 and just recently married (thankfully what will pull her thru I'm sure) -but she was THE sweetest happiest smiliest person you ever met- a real joy.... but she'll be changed after this. *sigh*

Anyway- now I'm home for I'm not sure how long. Friend had chemo again and didn't do well today. I may end up going again but I came home to a desroyed home, pool disgusting, bills not paid, clothes not washed- not a stitch of clothing or towel clean! arghhh LOL, and no dishes clean- etc. You know what I mean... and ofcourse packing/etc. for this trip. I need to get some things done before I can spend more time away right before vacation!

I sooooo need this vacation.
I've wanted it before.
I've thought I needed it before.
I was wrong, NOW I really NEED it. Get away... no worries... no cleaning no cooking... no caring for others except my babies (and even then minimally thanks to DCL lol) -- NEED IT! can't wait...................................

I hope I haven't missed much.... wanted to pop on and explain why and also see if anyone still needs a large shirt for our group... was able to get me another shirt in my size to purchase- so now we have an extra sz lrg. If anyone wants to buy it- i can ship on Tuesday priority to make sure you get it or you can pay paypal and I'll bring it to you on the ship or something. Shipped Tuesday priority should make it to almost anyone in the states though. That's when she's shipping my shirt to me. LMK anyone. (contact me thru email please. I don't check here on my iphone but do check emails)

Also was there not a smaller size than adult small? If you notice Rita wearing a dress--- it's really the size adult small shirt she ended up with, not really a dress just might look that way. but we'll be there.... regardless of what we're wearing.. God willing

oh yeah, I hope everyone is well and everyone is able to make the trip! I know sooo many (everyone?) could really use it... and it's gonna fab-u-lous.

Now with Laura's hurricane, Paula's earthquake and Michelle's flight crash we really don't need any more disasters before we go .... please They say things come in 3's so that should be it.

I don't think anyone could be offended by a naked toddler or even young child there is nothing more natural and if they were i would tend to be a bit owrried about that adult.

I'm PACKED !!!!!! Except for last minute items and my purse (rather LARGE purse). So the stressing has subsided. The only thing is the tshirts. I still have not been able to get the logos to resize. My DH will be back from his 'around the world' trip on Tues so he can take care of it then. Poor thing got food poisoning in Dehli. He's in Paris now so hopefully he can enjoy the food.

Oh and our documents still haven't arrived. i talked to DL who said they were shipped out. but have fedex'd us new ones as our originals have dissapeared.

How did sleeping in "the fort" of pillows go? Sounds as if you were woken repeatedly by aftershocks - if you can call a 5 on the Richter an "aftershock"!

I don't know if you mean the weight of the FE's you are packing or recieving, but...the heaviest part of my FE's is edible, so no need to take it home with you, the other things are more compact and not too heavy, I hope.

Yep, I have chocolate galore!!! I have 60 sweet bags made for Bella's birthday, I see there are now 65 kids in our group, I suspect that not all the kids will turn up though, So I may have left over sweet bags too!
And we come to the bikini, after all the chocolate, Arghhh

I woke up this morning all ready to go into work, excited about the day and all. Then I got sick. This is twice in one week that I've had a stomach bug...I'm not liking it at all. I can't afford all of this down time right now!!!!

Nope, we are Aussies, pretty liberal here! Takes a lot more than a naked toddler to offend us.

I received a PM from somebody that I cruised with last October. She is going to do the EBTA next year and has asked for a report about our cruise. She also mentioned that we have a wonderful group here. This has really brought home how privileged I have been to share the best part of two years with you and even luckier that soon I will be able to share two amazing weeks with all of you. I honestly feel closer to this group than I do to my own family.

We are leaving here on the 16th September.



It was Father's Day here today, So we went out for a big family lunch with my Dad and the whole family. It is alway so fun when we get together. Had a great day.

The toddler spash area was added during the 2008 Magic drydock (and 2007 Wonder drydock) and at that time they converted the one mickey pool ear that been a splash area back into a swimming area for the kids.

When we first cruised in 2008, one of the ears was a splash zone, but the ship went into dry dock straight after and they installed this very neat dedicated splash area.

She also mentioned that we have a wonderful group here. This has really brought home how privileged I have been to share the best part of two years with you and even luckier that soon I will be able to share two amazing weeks with all of you. I just realized when you look down at my ticker for this cruise that the nose of the Magic has gone off the edge of the background. We must be getting close!

I know the DIS has seemed to be down for some people...not sure why? Can't belive I only have 2 pages to read from yesterday!

You can get apple jouice at Topsiders. You can also order it from room service breakfast menu and keep in the chill box.

Topsiders has apple, orange at the end of the line up, near the coffee. You are great for most of the day.

I would just ask at Goofy's if Topsiders is closed. I was able to get green apples from Goofy's when it was closed by asking at Topsiders during the dinner service up there, so each is accessible from the other.
